It did really try for the female reader in the beginning. Went for those “Ms.” Magazine vibes in this cover.

Loved when they ditched all the celeb couple covers from the 70s and 80s and just featured the men on the cover.

If nothing else, I will be eternally grateful to Playgirl for the Jim Brown photos.

When I was a young teen my Aunt got a Playgirl as a gag in her Christmas stocking from one of her grown children. I saw it peeking out of the stocking when we went by Christmas morning. We returned that evening for a family gathering and I noticed the magazine wasn't in the stocking. I kept disappearing and sneaking upstairs going all through my Aunt and Uncle's bedroom until I found it. I was shaking with excitement. They asked what in the world I had been doing up in their room for so long. "Nothing", I mumbled and I was beet red. And rock hard probably.

I loved Steve Rally

Steve Rally was so hot.

He has a cameo in the short gay film “The Disco Years” (1991) as an aerobics instructor. He played him rather nelly.

I used to always try and sneak peeks at “Playgirl” at the local Waldenbooks.

The Christopher Atkins issue was certainly “well-used” by me.

LOVED it when my mom’s issue arrived in the mail each month.

When I was a teenager, the woman who lived next door to us subscribed to Playgirl, and one time, the mailman accidentally delivered her copy to our house.

I just happened to be the one to get the mail out of the box that day. I figured some adult magazine might be inside the black plastic slipcover, so I made a small cut near the top to see what it was.

Let's just say, she never got that issue, and I broke some kind of federal law.

And seriously, I thought I'd hit the jackpot because it was the issue with Steve Rally as Man of the Year.

This magazine was such a part in my realization that I was gay.

Yes, he certainly is very stimulating.

R17 Yes and no. The original Playgirl pic was cropped at the pubes line. The full-frontals came out years later when Atkins started selling his nudes online. Hie compensated for that though by featuring some truly spectacular ass shots. What can I say? I’m an ass man!

I was 16yo when my older brother found my stash of Playgirls. He confonted me "Why do ya have this shit?" I replied "It turns Julie- "girlfriend" on so she lets me fuck her" He actually believed it!

R9 It was a Christmas or Holiday edition. Probably some hairy man with a mustache in a mountain cabin wearing a red onsie that his cocknballs has fallen out of. The year was probably 1980-81.

R22 he runs a fitness center in LA i believe now. I’m a huge fan of the campus hunks 2000 edition, which White was a part of. Those five dudes had amazing chemistry posing together. And individually their pics were stunning. Brian Huseby in r19 post had been extremely sick for awhile (pneumonia?) and had a go fund me set up because he lost all his money due to his illness, but this was a few years ago. I’m friends with Jonathan Howard on Facebook, and he’s also runs his own fitness center and is a personal trainer. One of the other guys Matt Lerro is in prison unfortunately.
