Jeopardy! #42
by Anonymous | reply 601 | June 29, 2024 9:05 AM |
Just to jump in, I'll say that Ken Jennings, who once seemed a terrible choice as host, has grown on me; he's lively and engaging. His and the contestants' asides and ad libs would probably have made Alex recoil, but I rather like them for the most part. (And he's so prefereable to Mayim.)
But I wonder: Alex used to walk to the winner to shake their hand. Why doesn't Ken? Hygiene?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | April 18, 2024 3:19 PM |
[quote]But I wonder: Alex used to walk to the winner to shake their hand. Why doesn't Ken? Hygiene?
That all ended with COVID.
Alex used to stand in front of the contestants podium to interview them, but once COVID hit, that stopped. Host now stands at least 10 feet away at all times. Same thing at the end.
Although the host does still pose for photos with the contestants after the show. But that happens after the camera is turned off.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | April 18, 2024 6:56 PM |
Marko's Vanna White story was awkward, don't think I really understood it. But, he's cute and pinged, so ... yay!
Connecticut seemed obvious to me.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | April 19, 2024 1:05 AM |
Yay, Marco!! Way to go. He seems like a nice guy. I had a feeling that Allison wasn’t going to win it one more time because the DDs were not her friends tonight. She got the first one wrong and the two in Double Jeopardy went to each of her challengers. Plus, instead of remaining quiet and not venturing answers, as she had done previously, she seemed to get a few answers wrong.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | April 19, 2024 1:06 AM |
Allison was "exposed" as a less than a great champion. She missed several easy answers (like thinking Arkansas was a state before Alabama). I thought FJ was really easy... CT pretty obvious.
Marco is cute as a button.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | April 19, 2024 3:30 AM |
Alison was quite sporting to her fellow contestants, I liked her for that.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 19, 2024 3:54 AM |
I, too, guessed Arkansas, even though I knew it was too far south to be correct.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 19, 2024 3:03 PM |
Connecticut seemed easy in retrospect. But only then,
by Anonymous | reply 9 | April 19, 2024 3:36 PM |
Finally a fun game with some decent competition. Go Marko!!
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 19, 2024 3:36 PM |
Farewell, Foghorn Leghorn. We hardly knew ye.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 19, 2024 4:20 PM |
Good game. I like Marko, the new champ. He does have a math professor quality about him.
I said Delaware for Final.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 19, 2024 6:30 PM |
So did I, R12! Didn’t even remember CT.
The new champ is a cutie.
Plus today’s FJ was ridiculously easy.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 20, 2024 4:28 AM |
I’d be more embarrassed to have guessed Delaware than Arkansas. That FJ was ridiculously easy.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 20, 2024 4:37 AM |
That was like Final Jeopardy for Juniors.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 20, 2024 7:25 AM |
So glad to see Super Villain Molly go down in flames.
Her cockiness was annoying.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 20, 2024 7:48 AM |
I'd love to make the new champ smile.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 20, 2024 5:19 PM |
With your tongue, R18?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 20, 2024 6:08 PM |
Sylvia Plath???
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 23, 2024 12:58 AM |
When a champ wears a tie after not doing so for several nights, he is going to lose. Seen this before.
I got Final, but it wasn't obvious.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 23, 2024 1:02 AM |
I guessed Lorraine Hansberry, too.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 23, 2024 1:04 AM |
I thought Hurston was pretty obvious, really the only answer considering a Black woman writer in the time period mentioned.
But, yeah....Sylvia Plath???? There is nothing remotely right about that response.
Nam looks to be around for awhile, I think.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | April 23, 2024 2:26 AM |
I got Zora Neale Hurston at the last second.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 23, 2024 3:00 AM |
R20 I though Marco was cute and I was sad when he looked like he was going to lose.... but then.... Plath. One of the craziest responses ever. (Although the image of her collaborating with Moms Mabley is pretty fun.) And with "Plath" all my interest in the lad went away. Funny how something stupid can extinguish affection.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | April 23, 2024 3:32 AM |
R12 I guessed Delaware, too.
I knew it wasn't an "A" state, I just forget about fucking Connecticut when I was going through the alphabetical list of states. (Though to be fair to me, it's a very easy state to forget about.)
by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 23, 2024 4:09 AM |
Go Nam! Bravo! I liked him instantly and also think he’ll be around for a while.
I guessed Hurston for Final. Couldn’t think of any other black female novelists and playwrights of that era, but figured it was wrong. Was surprised but delighted to learn it was right.
Plath was obviously a hail mary guess as time was running out. Marko knew it was wrong but Plath was better than leaving it blank.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 23, 2024 9:07 AM |
R27, Leaving it blank would have been less embarrassing than offering a ridiculous response.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 23, 2024 11:01 AM |
Cue all the Ben Franklin, Mark Twain and Dorothy Parker quotes.......
by Anonymous | reply 29 | April 23, 2024 2:25 PM |
R27 There's Hail Mary (e.g. Tony Morrison) and then there's lunacy/shit-the-bed (a white privileged suicidal poet who wasn't born in 1932).
I agree Nam looks like he'll be around a while.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | April 23, 2024 3:23 PM |
That was short-lived.
No surprise that he still lives at home with his parents.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | April 24, 2024 1:43 AM |
Is “Nam” short for Vietnam?
by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 24, 2024 2:41 AM |
No hug for the piano teacher?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 24, 2024 2:42 AM |
I loved the piano teacher and was thrilled whenever she responded correctly (and slowly).
But at FJ I actually snorted, "yeah, right............" Wasn't I surprised?!
by Anonymous | reply 34 | April 24, 2024 2:54 AM |
Respectfully, i don’t think there was a single moment tonight or last night when Nam looked like he’d “be around for a while”.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | April 24, 2024 3:41 AM |
R35 At the start of the show Ken shared that Nam's 75% buzzing in/correct answer record the previous night was unprecedented. I guess you need to tell Ken and producers they were wrong and you knew it. Do it with respect though, eh?
by Anonymous | reply 36 | April 24, 2024 3:50 AM |
r2, If they're worried about Covid, why are the contestants allowed to hug?
by Anonymous | reply 37 | April 24, 2024 3:56 AM |
I was shocked that he recognized Buchanan immediately like that being Canadian.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | April 24, 2024 1:21 PM |
The rumors about Buchanan have made him a gay pin-up boy.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | April 24, 2024 1:38 PM |
Yea! Correct with FJ
The old winner seemed very low key.
I like the new lady winner.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | April 25, 2024 1:28 AM |
I thought ginger was hot.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | April 25, 2024 2:12 AM |
Good close game! Seemed through most of it like any one of them could have come out on top. I like the new champ.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | April 25, 2024 2:36 AM |
All three got FJ right, it's been awhile since that has happened.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | April 25, 2024 2:48 AM |
I foolishly guessed the Orient Express. The Hindenberg seemed quite obvious once revealed.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | April 25, 2024 3:34 AM |
Look up “nonbinary” in the dictionary and it would just be an artist’s rendering of defending champ’s hairdo.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | April 25, 2024 5:42 AM |
Orient Express, famous for its pressurization and need for air locks between cars.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | April 25, 2024 5:43 AM |
One needs to know who the Montgolfiers are.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | April 25, 2024 6:56 AM |
I want to be the meat in a Tyler/Justin sandwich.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | April 26, 2024 12:32 AM |
JFC!
Tyler and Justin might as well have gone for coffee and let Amy play alone.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | April 26, 2024 12:55 AM |
Even with Amy's skills, there were so many unanswered responses. Tyler seemed promising, but he just collapsed in DJ.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | April 26, 2024 1:11 AM |
Not exactly a nail-biter tonight.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | April 26, 2024 1:20 AM |
How could not one of them know “The Caine Mutiny”?
How could not one of them know Charles de Gaulle was President of France in 1967?
by Anonymous | reply 52 | April 26, 2024 1:21 AM |
And Maybelline!!!!
The 3 of them just seemed too young for some of the categories tonight. And I can't remember an episode with so many unanswered questions at the end.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | April 26, 2024 1:26 AM |
I knew obscure Woodrow Wilson question - yay, me! Although, folks here are by definition seriously above average intelligence as a group.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | April 26, 2024 1:33 AM |
But that was a very hard FJ. I guess no surprise that that huge tacky statue is in Tennessee.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | April 26, 2024 1:36 AM |
I guessed Georgia.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | April 26, 2024 4:00 AM |
I got FJ because I immediately thought of the Parthenon copy in Nashville. I’ve always wondered what the fuck that is doing in Tennessee.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | April 26, 2024 4:04 AM |
So many unanswered clues! I wonder if this was a record.
I figured out Final after thinking of the Parthenon replica.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | April 26, 2024 10:47 AM |
I think I detected a bit of frustration on Ken's part with the contestants' ignorance.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | April 26, 2024 1:11 PM |
I’m done with Amy and her blasé attitude. She’s boring and she’s slow. She’s becoming unwatchable.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | April 26, 2024 11:23 PM |
No Jeopardy at the regular time tonight because of the NFL Draft. Instead, it’s been moved to 3:00 am. Ugh.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | April 26, 2024 11:30 PM |
Where do you live, R61?
by Anonymous | reply 62 | April 26, 2024 11:46 PM |
R60, Amy has the torso of a football player with those broad shoulders.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | April 26, 2024 11:47 PM |
Amy = Born to be broad.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | April 27, 2024 12:03 AM |
DC, R62.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | April 27, 2024 12:57 AM |
Did anyone else notice the huge man boobs on Matt the bald guy tonight?
by Anonymous | reply 66 | April 27, 2024 1:34 AM |
Why does Amy seem sedated?
by Anonymous | reply 67 | April 27, 2024 1:35 AM |
She's a doctor. You know those doctors and drugs.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | April 27, 2024 5:12 AM |
She lucks out once again.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | April 30, 2024 1:46 AM |
FJ was one of the easier ones.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | April 30, 2024 2:01 AM |
Lucked out? She had the right response. The guy with more money didn't. Even the gal with $800 had the right response.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | April 30, 2024 2:07 AM |
Easy FJ, she lucked out that he didn't know it when most challengers would have.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | April 30, 2024 2:33 AM |
The stupidity lately is maddening. As is the lisping.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | April 30, 2024 4:02 AM |
Yes, she lucked out because if Ferdinand had gotten the correct answer she would have lost. His bet would have given him a greater total than Amy was able to garner. But, he didn’t know and she bested him — which was quite fortunate on her part.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | April 30, 2024 4:25 AM |
That other woman couldn’t get it going. Poor thing.
I got FJ after a little bit of thinking. It was either going to come to you or it wasn’t.
Amy got very lucky.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | April 30, 2024 5:50 AM |
Amy definitely is lucky. She's low-energy, seemingly sedated contestant who somehow manages to keep winning.
I thought Ferdinand was finally going to knock her out. Too bad he couldn't figure out an easy Final.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | April 30, 2024 6:35 AM |
Jeopardy! Masters 2024 starts on Wednesday, May 1 in primetime on ABC (not in syndication). Nine games airing over the next three weeks. The final game airs on May 22.
Since not everyone will be watching both the daily syndicated game and the primetime Masters games, it's best to have two separate threads for discussion.

Seeing him blow Lake Geneva like that was incredibly painful.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | May 1, 2024 1:21 AM |
I want to see a battle of the Amys. "There can be only one!"
by Anonymous | reply 80 | May 1, 2024 1:38 AM |
Cue the Amy is just lucky trolls!
by Anonymous | reply 81 | May 1, 2024 1:43 AM |
There was no need for Bryan to bet it all on that DD.
A stupid mistake that he’ll regret forever.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | May 1, 2024 1:45 AM |
I was really rooting for the older lady. Loved her spunk!
But she, like me, was far too old to make that Ninja Turtles connection. And because the category was Fictional Groups I assumed they were referring to characters from.....fiction. You know, like novels.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | May 1, 2024 1:46 AM |
She is, dear R81. Lucky, slow and not terribly bright. If the kid gets easy easy easy Lake Geneva she doesn’t have a chance. Finishing in the lead with $7,600 is pathetic,
by Anonymous | reply 84 | May 1, 2024 1:54 AM |
Except the kid didn't get easy easy easy Lake Geneva.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | May 1, 2024 1:57 AM |
Comfortably numb Amy is one of the dullest champs ever.
There are zombies that are livelier than she is.
Yeah, that old lady certainly was spunky.
Bryan never recovered after that DD fiasco. Oh, and he had nice lips.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | May 1, 2024 2:32 AM |
OK, Amy has secured a spot in the next Tournament of Champions. Congratulations to here.
Now its time for her to exit and let someone more interesting and exciting be champion for a while.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | May 1, 2024 6:57 PM |
She is so slow to react when she is picking the next clue. She's an emergency room doctor. I want my doctors to think on their feet.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | May 1, 2024 9:16 PM |
Stupid, lucky (yes, lucky R85) Amy from Milwaukee doesn’t know the largest park in Chicago is Lincoln Park. I am so done with this lifeless ass.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | May 1, 2024 9:54 PM |
Is Amy short for Ambien?
by Anonymous | reply 90 | May 1, 2024 10:32 PM |
Reminder: Here's the thread to discuss the Jeopardy Masters Tournament that starts tonight.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | May 1, 2024 11:25 PM |
Know your opera, contestants! MADAME BUTTERFLY would have saved her!
And what kind of stupid ass name is "Wickea??" And she annoyingly kept repeating, "I'll take..." whenever she chose a clue. Someone should really coach these contestants before they appear!!!
by Anonymous | reply 92 | May 2, 2024 12:04 AM |
Tonight’s FJ was super easy.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | May 2, 2024 12:18 AM |
Cinchy FJ.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | May 2, 2024 12:27 AM |
How did they all miss FJ?? It was incredibly easy. The CIA? NORAD?
Bye, bye, Amy.
by Anonymous | reply 95 | May 2, 2024 1:00 AM |
I'm sure you're all going to love Wikkeakai.
Miss me yet, bitches?
by Anonymous | reply 96 | May 2, 2024 1:28 AM |
Wikipedia is already super irritating.
by Anonymous | reply 97 | May 2, 2024 1:30 AM |
What about poor Nils? He was kinda hot and ahead there for a quick minute.
by Anonymous | reply 98 | May 2, 2024 1:42 AM |
R98, He reminded me of Howard Dean.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | May 2, 2024 2:22 AM |
How could Ken not ask Waikiki about her name during the interview segment?
by Anonymous | reply 100 | May 2, 2024 2:23 AM |
No one spotted Robert Mitchum?
by Anonymous | reply 101 | May 2, 2024 2:41 AM |
FJ was very easy, but apparently everyone was thrown off by the date.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | May 2, 2024 3:30 AM |
Was not rooting for Wikkeaka. I hope it’s short lived.
by Anonymous | reply 103 | May 2, 2024 3:43 AM |
I was rooting for Nils, the pot luck dinner (and I presumed gay) guy.
Instead we got stuck with Caltiki - or whatever the hell her name is.
Well, at least Dr. Sleep is gone.
by Anonymous | reply 104 | May 2, 2024 4:01 AM |
Easiest FJ in a long time. NORAD? I think NORAD already worked overtime, jeez.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | May 2, 2024 8:23 PM |
Who won last night? I missed the show.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | May 3, 2024 12:38 PM |
Wiki, R106.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | May 3, 2024 12:48 PM |
I didn't know France had a space program in the 60s. But there weren't many countries to choose from -- France, Britain and China were the only real possibilities beside USA and USSR. And the name made it obviously French.
Miss Wikipedia is already getting old. And she's only two games in!
by Anonymous | reply 108 | May 3, 2024 6:18 PM |
"France" would have been even more obvious, if they'd spelled the clue correctly using l'accent aigu in the satellite's actual name: Astérix.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | May 3, 2024 7:19 PM |
Today is NOT a murderer’s row of knowledge. Dumb, dumber and dumbest.
by Anonymous | reply 110 | May 3, 2024 10:43 PM |
And Henry is cringy gross.
by Anonymous | reply 111 | May 3, 2024 10:44 PM |
R111, Haven’t watched tonight’s show yet, but judging from the site’s photo, is Henry trans?
by Anonymous | reply 112 | May 3, 2024 10:51 PM |
Fj was super easy!!!
OMG, can’t believe Waikiki pulled it off!!
by Anonymous | reply 113 | May 4, 2024 1:30 AM |
I couldn’t decide whether Henry was gay, trans, both, or a Paul Lynde impersonator.
by Anonymous | reply 114 | May 4, 2024 1:34 AM |
R113, Not for me, I blanked and all I could think of was Lola from “Copacabana”, which I knew was wrong.
by Anonymous | reply 115 | May 4, 2024 1:41 AM |
Yeah, good grief. Wackycaca is dull as dish water. I can’t imagine they’ll allow her to notch five wins. She’d be dead weight in ToC. She doesn’t have star quality like Rowan had.
by Anonymous | reply 116 | May 4, 2024 1:48 AM |
I didn't catch the first round of watching the beginning of the second round I was certain that Henry was going to be constantly battling the wiki chick for the lead. But it seems like they were both so desperate to answer every clue they kept attempting and getting wrong answers. And then suddenly the lady in the middle Sparks to life and pretty much pounces both of them that was pretty cool.
by Anonymous | reply 117 | May 4, 2024 1:54 AM |
I'm sad that the middle Asian. Lady didn't win. And while I'm not a fan at all of wacky head I'm really glad that Henry didn't win because I couldn't have stood watching another episode with that thing.
by Anonymous | reply 118 | May 4, 2024 2:06 AM |
The lady from Hawaii seemed sweet and she was very delightful to watch. I was rooting for her. I thought when I saw her smiling before her FJ reveal that she’d clinch it, but alas. We’re stuck with Waka Flocka going into next week.
by Anonymous | reply 119 | May 4, 2024 3:43 AM |
OMG I was so disappointed. I was so hoping Wikipedia would lose. The only champion I hate more than her is the guy who dresses up like a lady. The hula lady would have been a return to normalcy.
by Anonymous | reply 120 | May 4, 2024 7:15 AM |
Wikikakai is even luckier than Amy.
by Anonymous | reply 121 | May 4, 2024 2:40 PM |
Wackycaca, Wikipedia, Wikikakai, Waikiki, Wiki, Caltiki, Wikkeaka, Wickea . . .
No matter how you spell it, she's the very definition of lifeless.
Stick a mirror under her nose to see if she's still breathing.
Between her and previous champ Dr. Ambien, this has been Night of the Living Dead Week on Jeopardy.
by Anonymous | reply 122 | May 4, 2024 4:17 PM |
I picture WickyWackyBowl with 3 therapy dogs, 11 cats, 6 goats, 2 ferrets and a pot-bellied pig named Pork Chop, and they all sleep in the same bed.
I can smell her through my tv.
by Anonymous | reply 123 | May 4, 2024 9:24 PM |
"Weckiai" is a Comanche name. You can find her listed in obituaries for her Comanche relatives. "Rannila" is her husband's surname. On their wedding registry, she listed her surname as "Grandbergs-Duncan." She has a relative (possibly a sister) named "Weyodi" with that same surname, but as a Comanche author, poet, and painter, this woman goes by the name "Weyodi Old Bear."
Yes, I'm bored today.
by Anonymous | reply 124 | May 4, 2024 10:12 PM |
She should should have just abbreviated it to Dead Inside. Fucking dungeons and dragons.
by Anonymous | reply 125 | May 4, 2024 11:56 PM |
I needed Wiki’s creepy energy to leave my TV.
by Anonymous | reply 126 | May 5, 2024 12:17 AM |
What is the fucking thing she does with her hands to her mouth when she wins? God she's weirder than the chowchow guy.
by Anonymous | reply 127 | May 5, 2024 12:19 AM |
Wiki is having a very negative effect on me. It’s irrational, but I can’t help but be repelled by her.
by Anonymous | reply 128 | May 5, 2024 12:20 AM |
We need star power goddamn it!
STAR. POWER.
Lucky Amy and Walla Walla just aren't it.
by Anonymous | reply 129 | May 5, 2024 12:21 AM |
You know Wickerwork has at least one lampshade made from the skin of one of her dead cats.
by Anonymous | reply 130 | May 5, 2024 12:22 AM |
Have I missed it or has Ken not asked her about the origin of her name? It seems so odd that it hasn't been addressed.
by Anonymous | reply 131 | May 5, 2024 12:24 AM |
Ken knows she already made a voodoo doll of him. He's treading lightly.
by Anonymous | reply 132 | May 5, 2024 12:26 AM |
Wow, two incredibly lucky and incredibly boring female contestants back to back. What are the odds of that.
by Anonymous | reply 133 | May 5, 2024 2:43 AM |
How do you say “good riddance” in Comanche?
by Anonymous | reply 134 | May 7, 2024 12:59 AM |
Wiki looked steaming mad.
by Anonymous | reply 135 | May 7, 2024 1:00 AM |
Ken finally asked what her name meant.
Cool stuff.
by Anonymous | reply 136 | May 7, 2024 1:17 AM |
And the fat queen woke up with five clues left. Bye bye WickyWackyBowl.
by Anonymous | reply 137 | May 7, 2024 2:31 AM |
Yes, she flopped after saying she set her sites on TOC. Too bad.
by Anonymous | reply 138 | May 7, 2024 4:20 AM |
☝️I knew instantly that she sealed her fate with that comment.
by Anonymous | reply 139 | May 7, 2024 4:26 AM |
Bye, Wikipedia!
by Anonymous | reply 140 | May 7, 2024 5:21 AM |
I thought "L'Etoile du Nord" for MN was obvious, along with Madame Secretary and Temple university.
Comanche champ outraged her welcome .
by Anonymous | reply 141 | May 7, 2024 12:19 PM |
I never understand why contestants who are behind during DJ don't seem to search for the DDs. This was true of the lovely lady yesterday.
by Anonymous | reply 142 | May 7, 2024 1:12 PM |
[quote]Wiki looked steaming mad.
How was that different from how she normally looked?
Anyway, The Wicker Woman was defeated by the chubby guy and that's all that matters.
by Anonymous | reply 143 | May 7, 2024 3:24 PM |
The chubby guys speaks very quickly and adds lots of “Ken.”
by Anonymous | reply 144 | May 7, 2024 5:35 PM |
Thought FJ was super easy, but only one of then got it. Everyone in fact was lousy throughout.
by Anonymous | reply 145 | May 8, 2024 2:35 AM |
I was as shocked as the contestant who guessed right on FJ.

How cute is Ben?
by Anonymous | reply 149 | May 9, 2024 12:43 AM |
So many unanswered clues!
The 2 time champ - now, she's indeed lucky.
by Anonymous | reply 150 | May 9, 2024 1:06 AM |
Cuteness doesn't win you Jeopardy!
by Anonymous | reply 151 | May 9, 2024 1:06 AM |
Ben was adorable. But, he didn’t really stand a chance having missed two DDs and not answering a lot of questions.
by Anonymous | reply 152 | May 9, 2024 1:21 AM |
Too much Julia, too little studying.
by Anonymous | reply 153 | May 9, 2024 2:03 AM |
How in the hell did Jennifer even qualify for the show? She knew so little and most of the questions that she answered she just guessed wrong — a few times horrendously wrong.
by Anonymous | reply 154 | May 10, 2024 12:59 AM |
Got final right, these as well they didn't:
Beer barrel polka (they were probably just too young), Canadian shield, Leyden jar, and Basque (failing that huge giveaway clue was pathetic).
Champ's dress made her look fat, just sayin' ...
by Anonymous | reply 155 | May 10, 2024 1:02 AM |
Isabella so greedy!
by Anonymous | reply 156 | May 10, 2024 1:05 AM |
Some of Jennifer's responses were so goofy and idiotic, I felt embarrassed for her.
Can you imagine the intelligence level of the people who don't make it on the show?
And poor Isabella: I thought Basque was a giveaway as well, and she lost her step after that fiasco.
by Anonymous | reply 157 | May 10, 2024 1:18 AM |
Oh well. Three fraus and the frauest of them all won.
by Anonymous | reply 158 | May 10, 2024 1:32 AM |
Isabella was an idiot to bet it all on that DD.
FJ was an easy one for me.
by Anonymous | reply 159 | May 10, 2024 1:57 AM |
Has Susan Dey commented about nobody getting the LA law clue?
by Anonymous | reply 160 | May 10, 2024 2:35 AM |
The 3 of them were far too young for LA Law.
I guessed Beanie Babies for FJ.
I've now come to respect the current champ. She has an admirable steadiness. And sturdiness, too, lol.
by Anonymous | reply 161 | May 10, 2024 2:44 AM |
Bet she has some nice cankles.
by Anonymous | reply 162 | May 10, 2024 3:53 AM |
Yes, FJ was super, super easy. Too bad they were all to young to know the answer. 😛😛
by Anonymous | reply 163 | May 10, 2024 5:35 AM |
R163, Allison responded correctly.
by Anonymous | reply 164 | May 10, 2024 8:31 AM |
R161, Being too young no longer applies. The complete “L. A. Law” series is available on Amazon Prime as well as other streaming services.
Plus, boning up on movies and television series from the past should be part of a contestant’s preparation.
by Anonymous | reply 165 | May 10, 2024 8:48 AM |
Shocking no one knew LA Law!
Final did seem easy but I guess you had to have lived through it.
Isabelle should have listened to her instincts. She was foolish to bet it all on the DD. She might have won if she’d bet more wisely
by Anonymous | reply 166 | May 10, 2024 10:16 AM |
Andorra wasn't the worst guess. But it's not like she said San Marino.
But she should have known Basque.
by Anonymous | reply 167 | May 10, 2024 10:19 AM |
I came to realize that even had Isabella not bet anything on that first DD she still would have lost. She really never rallied in DJ. Great with all the music categories but not so strong anywhere else. Allison is far more well-rounded (no jokes, please, bitches!).
by Anonymous | reply 168 | May 10, 2024 2:15 PM |
At least they seem to be easing up on the freak parade. A little.

The infamous “calzone” response has to be in the Top 10.
by Anonymous | reply 177 | May 11, 2024 12:45 AM |
r170, do you mean when the chubby one didn't go for what was obviously the DJ DD on the board, leaving it for Allison?
Well, he won anyway.
by Anonymous | reply 178 | May 11, 2024 1:09 AM |
I really loved the guy in the middle and thought he'd win. I hope they eventually bring him back as a Fan Favorite or 2nd Chancer or whatever they call it.
FJ seemed very obvious to me. Really surprised Allison didn't get it but she'd have lost anyway.
by Anonymous | reply 179 | May 11, 2024 1:11 AM |
Will we ever see Chris Pannullo again? We had to wait so long for his reappearance and then - poof! He was gone with no fanfare.

bronco… corvette…. Jesus Christ.
by Anonymous | reply 181 | May 11, 2024 3:07 AM |
I guessed Elantra.
by Anonymous | reply 182 | May 11, 2024 4:17 AM |
Yes R178. He got very lucky fat champ lady is also not terribly bright and couldn’t think of any French tires. Been watching Jeopardy since it premiered with Alex. Not once have I seen a DD on the top row. Never. Turns out fat champ lady also knows nothing about Capote books, so it didn’t matter. Still, it’s one of the most idiotic moves I’ve ever seen on the show.
by Anonymous | reply 183 | May 11, 2024 4:20 AM |
Anyone remember a former Jeopardy champ named Dennis. Older, tall, bald, long beard, great baritone voice. I think he may have been in the play-in tourneys earlier this season? I was watching a show called Switched on GSN and was surprised to see him as a contestant. It’s a show that starts with five consistently stupid people, with one contestant getting the boot after the first and second rounds. Dennis got the boot after the first round. How humbling.
by Anonymous | reply 184 | May 11, 2024 4:30 AM |
R184 Sounds like Dennis Chase. He was on in 2021 (guest host Aaron Rodgers), and was back again in November 2023 for the Wildcard tournament.
by Anonymous | reply 185 | May 11, 2024 6:54 AM |
I also have never seen the DD in the top row.
Allison bet way too much for a DD so late in the game. But she would have lost anyway since she didn’t know Final.
Final was so easy!
I liked both Will and Jonah. Congrats to Will for winning!
Bronco? Corvette? I’m not a car person, but even I knew Thunderbird.
Also knew Mary Kay and her pink Cadillac.
And of course I knew Desperately Seeking Susan. Was yelling the answer at the screen, but none of them heard me!
by Anonymous | reply 186 | May 11, 2024 10:30 AM |
Is Will family? My gaydar went off as soon as I saw him.
by Anonymous | reply 187 | May 11, 2024 10:31 AM |
Cris will likely be back for some future tournament since the show seems to like tournaments so much now.
Likely we’ll see Juveria and Yungshen invited back for a tournament too. Both were far too good to let them fade away forever.
by Anonymous | reply 188 | May 11, 2024 10:35 AM |
That DJ was NOT in the top row, It was an $800 in the second row.
by Anonymous | reply 189 | May 11, 2024 1:58 PM |
[quote] That DJ was NOT in the top row,
No one said it was. R183’s point in saying “Not once have I seen a DD on the top row” was that the chubby contestant bypassed the sole remaining $800 clue, which had to (and, in fact, did) contain the sole, remaining DD, and instead picked one of the $400 clues. His dunderheaded move was missing where the obvious DD was.
by Anonymous | reply 190 | May 11, 2024 2:33 PM |
It's been years but the hottest contestant, since I don't remember his name, I call him Sweaters. He was from Vancouver, liked to Kayak, and wore these ugly/sexy sweaters on each appearance.
by Anonymous | reply 191 | May 11, 2024 4:17 PM |
That’s him R185. How embarrassing to be a Jeopardy champ and then lose a very remedial trivia game show to complete morons.
by Anonymous | reply 192 | May 11, 2024 4:35 PM |

Very rare, but it's happened. Example from a game in 2019 at link:

Was that Bartender Tom, R191? I remember the hot guy with those sweaters.
by Anonymous | reply 194 | May 12, 2024 12:21 PM |
No. It was a bit before the bartender. The guy was an outdoorsy type.

by Anonymous | reply 198 | May 14, 2024 1:03 AM |
Who else laughed out loud when the chubby champ responded “Little Shop of Horrors” instead of “The Pawnbroker”?
by Anonymous | reply 199 | May 14, 2024 3:46 AM |
I did, and I suspect Ken wanted to.
by Anonymous | reply 200 | May 14, 2024 3:54 AM |
R197, I’d be so embarrassed, I wouldn’t want to come back out after FJ.

R197 is correct. I try to be kind, but the guy pretty much disgraced himself.

And what about the contestant who was STILL in the hole and when told by Ken there were just 2 minutes remaining needed $800 to get out of the hole but kept going after the $400s when there were still $800s?

That was the now DL-infamous "Michael in the Middle"...
by Anonymous | reply 206 | May 14, 2024 3:08 PM |
That Little Shop of Horrors response was SO bad, the audience broke into laughter.
What the audience should've done was thrown things at the guy - or at the very least, maybe Ken should have gone over and just slapped him.
by Anonymous | reply 207 | May 14, 2024 8:22 PM |
I liked both Will and Omar, either would've been OK as a winner with me. Final question was really clever, had no idea.
by Anonymous | reply 208 | May 15, 2024 1:01 AM |
Augustus Gloop won again.
by Anonymous | reply 209 | May 15, 2024 1:04 AM |
I thought it was some brand of Root Beer.
Omar was handsome, I wish he'd won, though he wasn't the greatest contestant.
by Anonymous | reply 210 | May 15, 2024 1:05 AM |
I didn't think of FJ until time was called.
I also Omar was attractive, but he didn't have it in him to win.
The way Ashley talked early in the game made me laugh because it was like she was barely moving her lips.
I was thinking: is she practicing to be a ventriloquist?
R209 - the Augustus Gloop reference is better than the one I was thinking of: Newman, the cover boy from Mad Magazine.

I'm glad Grant won, I was tired of the other guy. I feel bad for these older woman who play as I'm sure they're intelligent to make it on the show but aging slows down your reflexes.
by Anonymous | reply 214 | May 16, 2024 1:01 AM |
God I can't stand the guy that one tonight I hope he loses tomorrow.
by Anonymous | reply 215 | May 16, 2024 2:42 AM |
Grant didn't strike me as the strongest player so I'll be surprised if he hangs around for long.
Frankly, I was very surprised that Ken (or the judges) ruled that "Lucy....Arnaz" was enough. But then, the former champ bet so little money I'm not sure he would have won in any case.
And HAS THERE EVER BEEN AN EASIER FJ???
by Anonymous | reply 216 | May 16, 2024 3:02 AM |
As a LONGTIME Jeopardy fan (meaning I watched during the Art Fleming days when the clues were covered with cardboard!!) the problem I have with the show is the way the clues are being written!! They're all so wordy, with cutesy/jokesy references sprinkled in, and way too much "clever" wordplay. Ken reads them fast enough, but it sometimes takes a second or two to get the reference they're talking about! They have about fifteen writers listed in the credits, so they should be able to come up with COHERENT and FACTUAL clues.
I cannot account for the parade of weirdo nerds and dumbos who are passing for contestants lately.
by Anonymous | reply 217 | May 16, 2024 4:22 AM |
I enjoyed Grant’s enthusiasm.
He didn’t come to play, he came to win.
by Anonymous | reply 218 | May 16, 2024 12:29 PM |
I can't stand Grant either. Hairstyle indicates to me he's channeling his inner Fran Lebowitz.

Grant is obviously a serial killer. He hunts down prostitutes in his office chair with lumbar support.
by Anonymous | reply 223 | May 16, 2024 11:06 PM |
This is the first time I’ve noticed a contestant in a chair.
by Anonymous | reply 224 | May 17, 2024 3:31 AM |
Grant leans forward in his chair a lot so it's more obvious he's in a chair than other contestants who sit.
by Anonymous | reply 225 | May 17, 2024 4:11 AM |
The Sun reports that Grant was on Reddit and answered the question about the chair, saying he has some kind of back arthritis that makes standing for long periods of time difficult.
(And no, he's not the first contestant to be in some kind of chair.)
by Anonymous | reply 226 | May 17, 2024 4:39 AM |
God I can't stand him. It's too bad the other two are so awful but he couldn't help but win.

R236 yes absolutely. And does somebody else said above it's totally the hair I kept thinking he probably would be cute if he just f****** get rid of that hair. Can somebody summarize what can was explaining when they came back right before he read the final Jeopardy clue. I completely missed it because I was busy trying to find out if Ben folds five is a band known for having profane performances. The reason I was looking at this is because an amphitheater near me is having them in concert this year and somebody asked on their Facebook if this show would be PGm.
by Anonymous | reply 237 | May 18, 2024 2:02 AM |
I knew FJ immediately only because I was born and raised in Massachusetts.
I have no problem with Grant, which places me in a minority.
by Anonymous | reply 238 | May 18, 2024 2:15 AM |
R237,
In one of the clues, Tiny Tim responded with “Elixir of Life”, to which Ken said “yes”
After the break, and before FJ, Ken announced a scoring change because the correct response was “Elixir” as the judges determined “Elixir of Life” was different.
BTW, FJ was beyond easy for me as I grew up in Medford, one of the cities mentioned in the clue.
by Anonymous | reply 239 | May 18, 2024 2:15 AM |
I like his Melissa Manchester hair, I think it’s the twisting about in the high chair in contrast to everyone else that, to me, casts him in the light of an enfant terrible.
by Anonymous | reply 240 | May 18, 2024 2:22 AM |
R239 thanks I remember when he answered elixir of life that I felt pretty sure they'd overturn it but then I forgot about it.
The final Jeopardy was easy for me too because I saw the movie and I think about it a lot I don't know why exactly. But also dar Williams did a song that leads to mystic River or at least in my mind it does.

by Anonymous | reply 243 | May 18, 2024 3:10 AM |
All of the clerks in my grocery (NYC) could do their work sitting on a chair.
by Anonymous | reply 244 | May 18, 2024 3:20 AM |
Similarly, I think cashiers at Aldi are in chairs.
by Anonymous | reply 245 | May 18, 2024 3:21 AM |
There was a walmart by my Dad's apartment that I would do his shopping at and one of the cashiers there was always sitting. However one evening she was in the line that sold cigarettes and I remember there were two people ahead of me and the guy she was checking out asked for a pack so she got up and grab them and then sat back down and finished checking him out. The next guy also ask for a cigarettes and that just set it off and before she got up to grab his she bellowed down the line asking if anybody else was planning to ask for cigarettes so she wouldn't have to get up more than once. Of course no one responded and I'm certain that the people after me we're planning to buy cigarettes but opted not to.

Finally getting caught up on this week's games. Between work being busy and watching Masters, I've gotten behind on the daily game.
I also like Grant. Seems quite smart. Am enjoying him and his hair.
Will will likely be back in the ToC. With just four months of regular play this season, lots of 3-game winners will make it into the ToC. Will with his $70,000+ winnings most likely will be one of them.
Yes, there have been contestants sitting in chairs on stage before. And we've discussed them frequently. The most recent was Troy who lost to Yogesh in the ToC back in March.
As someone said upthread, Grant just makes it more obvious he's sitting on a chair because he leans forward a lot. Also tends to swivel around a lot.
Hats off to Grant for knowing the name of Frans Ferdinand's assassin in Final on Thursday. I knew what the clue was looking for, but don't think I had ever heard the name of his assassin before.
I had no idea about the Mystic River Final on Friday. Not a book I wold read or a movie I would watch.
FYI: The Jeopardy final credits list ten writers including executive producer Michael Davies.

Gregg bet too much on that failed DD, but then he didn’t get FJ, so he wouldn’t have won anyway.
Grant’s reaction at winning tonight was a bit off putting.
by Anonymous | reply 253 | May 21, 2024 1:17 AM |
I think Greg is kind of sweet, and don't begrudge him one bit for being so enthusiastic at his win. Not many grocery clerks can claim to be FJ champs. (I also noticed he seems to have taken on Matt Amodio's style: Hesitate, pause, and say "what's . . .?")
by Anonymous | reply 254 | May 21, 2024 2:33 AM |
I would have bombed with FJ. I thought the production of 12 Angry Men was a revival, not a debut.
by Anonymous | reply 255 | May 21, 2024 2:35 AM |
His name is Grant, R254
by Anonymous | reply 256 | May 21, 2024 2:37 AM |
I guessed FJ correctly even though I’ve never seen the film.
by Anonymous | reply 257 | May 21, 2024 2:37 AM |
I guessed 1776 for FJ.
by Anonymous | reply 258 | May 21, 2024 2:38 AM |
The FJ clue was confusing because it seemed to be suggesting a new play. I thought, could it be Take Me Out, but that seemed very obscure and I don't think the cast was as big as 14. And I think it debuted on Broadway in 2002 or 2003.
But 12 Angry Men was originally produced not as a stage play but on live TV and then as a small independent film, all that in the early1950s. It didn't debut on Broadway until 2004 though I think there were reginal productions of the play version before it hit Broadway (and then only at the Roundabout so not really Broadway Broadway).
I also crushed on Gregg and was really disappointed he didn't come through in the end after a very strong start.
by Anonymous | reply 259 | May 21, 2024 3:29 AM |
Roundabout productions are usually Broadway productions.
by Anonymous | reply 260 | May 21, 2024 3:50 AM |
I really thought Greg was going to pull off a win until he made that foolish DD bet.
Greg would have bet different in Final if he had been in the lead, but no idea if his missing Final would have caused him to loose.
But Grant pulled off another win. Bravo to him.
Only thing I could think of was Spamalot for Final since Monty Python has a history of having men play female parts. But I just looked it up and Spamalot opened in 2005.
by Anonymous | reply 261 | May 21, 2024 6:54 PM |
I hope the champ stays on a long time and wins a bundle of money. Gets to do something besides checkout groceries.

by Anonymous | reply 263 | May 21, 2024 7:06 PM |
I got “12 Angry Men” right away. Fairly easy FJ.

Anyway, I tried to like the guy, but for some reason the hair made it difficult for me - and the "Bout time" didn't help.
R269 - I was thinking the same thing re Debbie Downer.

[quote]I thought that was odd Ken telling Grant he'd be back because I thought one had to win five games for that to happen.
You're guaranteed a spot in the ToC if you win 5 games. However, they've only got four months worth of regular games this year to find ToC players. And the Tournament has gotten so large in recent years -- 27 people in the most recent one -- that they will almost certainly pull some 4 game and 3 game winners in.
Grant won 4 games and over $80,000. I'd say there's a 99% chance he'll be in the ToC. That's what Ken was referring to.
It was a good game. Nice to Grant get some serious competition. But the new guy does seem boring.
Final was super easy. I've never seen the Shining, but the haunted twins are such a part of our culture here 44 years later, it seemed ridiculously easy. And it was since everyone got it.
by Anonymous | reply 273 | May 22, 2024 7:04 PM |
R273, Even Debbie Downer got FJ.
by Anonymous | reply 274 | May 22, 2024 7:06 PM |
How can you never have seen The Shining, R273?

I rarely watch horror films r275. There is nothing about that film that has every interested me.

Granny . . . Oy!

I guessed Guinea Bissau for final.
Dome of the Rock seemed obvious to me, along with 49th Parallel. Amer is second South Asian on the show from Parsippany, NJ almost back-to-back.
Secretly wanted Lady Ham to win.
by Anonymous | reply 278 | May 23, 2024 1:01 AM |
I thought Ivory Coast.

I’m sad Grant lost. I liked having a slacker grocery clerk as a Jeopardy champion instead of the pediatricians, rocket scientists, business analysts, software engineers and professional sports gamblers who litter the Jeopardy playing field.
I wonder if he works at Trader Joe’s.

by Anonymous | reply 282 | May 23, 2024 10:20 PM |
They seemed like such a bright trio of contestants at the beginning of the show but that sure changed.
by Anonymous | reply 284 | May 24, 2024 1:30 AM |
Ken seemed to lose patience with all of them, and with good reason.
by Anonymous | reply 285 | May 24, 2024 1:32 AM |
There was a period during the middle of the game when I was wondering if everyone was going to end up being unable to play FJ because they'd wind up with either a negative score or $0.
[quote]Any contestant has the option to sit.
I noticed Amy was sitting in her final appearance, but I don't know if she sat during any of the other games because I never noticed her doing so before.

I was also hoping tonight that all 3 contestants would be ineligible for FJ to see what the producers would do and curious if it had ever happened before.
by Anonymous | reply 287 | May 24, 2024 3:31 AM |
Lots of Yogesh BS going on. He went on another insane tirade after his second place finish in Masters. See the Masters thread if interested. But I'm not going to post it again here 'cause enough of that. Back to the normal Jeopardy! discussion.
by Anonymous | reply 288 | May 24, 2024 6:59 PM |
For those who have found recent contestants disappointing, tonight’s game is more of the same.

Happy to see the "bro" challengers lose.

Sam Kinison was the best all time bad answer in Jeopardy! history.
by Anonymous | reply 293 | May 28, 2024 1:04 AM |

I got Brenda Lee. That was so easy, it was all over the news last Christmas
by Anonymous | reply 295 | May 28, 2024 1:18 AM |
Like I imagine most here, I knew Brenda Lee and Victrola.
I really thought the middle guy was gonna trample Amar 10 minutes in but once he started flopping, he just kept flopping . Waiting room???? With a middle Y?? WTF?
by Anonymous | reply 296 | May 28, 2024 1:26 AM |
I was hoping someone would guess Madonna for FJ.
by Anonymous | reply 297 | May 28, 2024 3:42 AM |
Cher's stuffing her face with mini eclairs and crying after that final answer.

by Anonymous | reply 300 | May 28, 2024 3:47 AM |
Yes , I was screaming Victrola at the screen but none of them seemed to hear me.
Brenda Lee was simple if you follow the news.
I also thought Tim was going to beat Amar early in the match, but he sure lost his mojo.
I’m rather tired of Amar. Ready for a new champ.

Given how badly a number of post-tournament players have been doing, it seems that most of the categories have been a bad idea.
Like R302, I was hoping all three contestants were going to guess Diana Ross for FJ.
by Anonymous | reply 305 | May 28, 2024 9:53 PM |
I’m over the contestants writing messages to their friends and family in FJ. Ken didn’t even comment on the one guy’s “I ❤️ my pregnant wife!” under his wrong guess of Parton.
Stephanie Groce seemed to drop the “Hi, Nora!” towards the end of Jeopardy Masters.
by Anonymous | reply 306 | May 28, 2024 11:15 PM |
R306, Notice how the hugging has ceased.
by Anonymous | reply 307 | May 29, 2024 12:14 AM |
The freak parades seem to be winding down too. The questions seem to be harder too. I remember when a 10K win was considered a very good win. Then everyone was finishing near 20K. Now it seems to be coming back down. Plus the double Jeopardy! questions seem to be getting harder.
by Anonymous | reply 308 | May 29, 2024 1:00 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 311 | May 29, 2024 2:51 AM |
For FJ I was thinking John Merrick (The Elephant Man) but, of course, he wasn't a scientist. That was really hard! Wonder if any of the big champs like Amy or Matt would have gotten it.
by Anonymous | reply 312 | May 29, 2024 2:53 AM |
Congrats to Abby! From third place to winner.
It was a very good game. I really thought Steve was going to pull it off. He started off poorly, going into the red and staying there for a while. But once he got his sea legs, so to speak, he did great. All came down to that final bet.
I knew what Final was getting at -- someone who pioneered early genetics research -- but I blanked on that person's name.
by Anonymous | reply 313 | May 29, 2024 6:49 PM |
Good for Abby for wagering correctly in her situation. The other two were close and had to wager nearly everything. Her only way to win was bet minimal or nothing and hope the other two get FJ wrong. It’s frustrating how often someone in Abby’s position bets it all.
by Anonymous | reply 314 | May 29, 2024 7:20 PM |
Abby Mann was also the name of a well known writer.

Wow. Brian sure flamed out after starting off strong. Kept buzzing in without properly thinking out his answers or noting what the clue was asking for. Not as gifted as he thought he was.
Congrats to Andriana. Loved that pattern on her dress. It showed up well on camera.
Abby didn't think out her final wager well. She was depending on Adriana missing the question AND betting big.
I drew a blank on Final. Didn't realize they were building tourist traps back in the 1200s but now that I know the correct answer, it makes sense.

by Anonymous | reply 323 | June 1, 2024 4:35 AM |

R334 Probably not gonna happen, because it's not an ABC network show. It's syndicated to local stations by Sony Pictures. In some TV markets, it's not shown on ABC and airs on an NBC or CBS affiliate. There's even a Fox affiliate station here and there that has the broadcast rights.

When they asked the Peyton Place question it reminded me of how common it was in those days to refer to a workplace or neighborhood situation as “it’s a real Peyton Place there.”
“What’s it like working at the hospital?”
“Oh it’s Peyton Place, believe me. All the affairs, the rivalries, the doctors and nurses arguing, the supervisors looking the other way when it comes to their favorites…”

YouTube cracked down a several months ago, but a some folks seem to have been able to slip in episodes lately. I watched most of this week’s episodes on YouTube. But, they don’t last long — a few hours at most.

I lost faith in the pastor when he failed on the Michigan category; it was obvious she beat him out on buzzer skills rather than knowledge alone.
by Anonymous | reply 364 | June 8, 2024 12:32 PM |
R364, The pastor got several from the Michigan category.
His voice was most soothing.
by Anonymous | reply 365 | June 8, 2024 12:43 PM |
What constitutes "several" out of 5?
by Anonymous | reply 366 | June 8, 2024 3:28 PM |
Pastor Soothe Voice successfully buzzed in for only 2 of the 5 clues. And when you consider he picked the first one by prefacing it by saying he's from Michigan, that's not a lot.
It's interesting that even though Andrianna is on a roll and may be around for a while longer, she doesn't seem to be irritating any of us the way some past champs have.
In that regard, she somewhat reminds me of Julia Collins, the 20-time winner from several years ago - although I liked Julia much more and thought she seemed like a really sweet person.
by Anonymous | reply 367 | June 8, 2024 9:33 PM |
If anything, I'm slightly frustrated that she's gotten so far as much due to weaker challengers than for having an awesome knowledge base. I'm ready for someone new.
by Anonymous | reply 368 | June 8, 2024 9:49 PM |
R367, It bears noting that the pastor responded correctly to the two most difficult/valuable clues in the Michigan category.
BTW, he excelled in the religious category, naturally.
by Anonymous | reply 369 | June 8, 2024 11:05 PM |
I'd say Adriana does have an awesome knowledge base. She surprises me constantly with correct responses to categories like rap music/musicians.

by Anonymous | reply 381 | June 11, 2024 1:58 AM |
I knew it wasn't Peyton Place because the book was never taken seriously as literature years after its publication. And compared to lots of the books of the 50s, it wasn't even really that salacious.

R382, For 1956 it was. Have you read it?
by Anonymous | reply 384 | June 11, 2024 3:09 AM |
I have, and compared to European literature of the decade Peyton Place was just a silly small town soap opera.
As well as some American novels. Coincidentally, I happen to be reading 1956's Compulsion, Meyer Levin's fictionalized best-selling account of the 1924 Leopold/Loeb murder trial right now and it's shockingly frank about homosexuality, masturbation and a whole range of sexual situations that would shock Grace Metalious off her town square.
by Anonymous | reply 385 | June 11, 2024 3:35 AM |

My mother would not allow “that filth in my living room.” We were not allowed to watch Peyton Place. I didn’t care, but it was rough in my older sister because Peyton Place was *the* show for adolescent and teen girls. They all swooned over Rodney and they all wanted to be Allison.
just realized it’s my mother’s birthday. She was a devout Catholic so wherever she is now, she’s not watching reruns of Peyton Place.

For a hot minute there, I thought Enzo would take the win.
He seemed oddly compelling.
Had no idea about FJ.
by Anonymous | reply 404 | June 13, 2024 1:37 AM |
[quote] Adriana's now within striking distance to make the Top 20 list in Winnings during regular play.
With today's win, she not only made the Top 20, but zoomed into 16th place.
by Anonymous | reply 405 | June 13, 2024 1:44 AM |
Enzo has an unfortunate last name.
by Anonymous | reply 406 | June 13, 2024 1:51 AM |
No reaction to Connor's cuteness? And he knew his food!
by Anonymous | reply 407 | June 13, 2024 1:54 AM |
Connor would have swept the category "Treasured Trails."
by Anonymous | reply 408 | June 13, 2024 2:15 AM |
Great game! Adriana continues her impressive run.
I liked Enzo but he kept looking away from Ken and the board and looking directly at the camera. What was that all about?
I had no idea on Final.
by Anonymous | reply 409 | June 13, 2024 2:33 AM |
I guess Ferris because of the "spoke" in the clue.
Also thought Caller and Cellar was pretty easy and surprised no one got it.
by Anonymous | reply 410 | June 13, 2024 3:03 AM |
And yes, Connor was very cute and sweet, too. I noted his wedding band but wondered to who.
by Anonymous | reply 411 | June 13, 2024 3:04 AM |
Enzo’s responding “Bottom” during the Shakespeare category was fitting.
by Anonymous | reply 412 | June 13, 2024 9:04 AM |
R407, And his rappers.
by Anonymous | reply 413 | June 13, 2024 9:05 AM |
I figured he'd inspire "Mama's mussy" among many here - ha ha!
by Anonymous | reply 414 | June 13, 2024 2:22 PM |
I agree with Connor being cute.
R412 - I think the only time Enzo smiled was when he responded "Bottom."
by Anonymous | reply 415 | June 13, 2024 4:07 PM |
I just can’t picture Connor as a lawyer.
by Anonymous | reply 416 | June 13, 2024 4:17 PM |
Not even a lawyer in a small Michigan town?
by Anonymous | reply 417 | June 13, 2024 7:46 PM |
His Linked indicates corporate law located in Detroit.
Not all lawyers are Perry Mason. ;)
by Anonymous | reply 418 | June 13, 2024 9:07 PM |
Another kindergarten FJ today.
by Anonymous | reply 419 | June 13, 2024 10:19 PM |
But is Connor married to a woman or a man?
by Anonymous | reply 420 | June 13, 2024 11:47 PM |
I knew the answer as soon as I saw the final Jeopardy category “1960s British Novels/Literature”
by Anonymous | reply 421 | June 14, 2024 12:28 AM |
The IBS anecdote, oy! I mean, I wish her all the best with it, but still.
by Anonymous | reply 422 | June 14, 2024 12:39 AM |
I saw a Jeopardy repeat on a Saturday evening and Mayim What’s her face was hosting. She was terrible. Ken is a million times better. (I only started watching Jeopardy again a couple of months ago after years of not seeing it)
by Anonymous | reply 423 | June 14, 2024 1:36 AM |
It was preempted tonight in South Florida (Miami/Fort Lauderdale) because of a Stanley Cup pre-show.

No one could identify Leon Panetta?
by Anonymous | reply 425 | June 14, 2024 3:22 AM |
R422, You have to wonder what were her other anecdotal options rather than announcing on national television that she has loose bowels.
by Anonymous | reply 426 | June 14, 2024 3:24 AM |
Clockwork Orange is another topic that writers return to often.
by Anonymous | reply 427 | June 14, 2024 3:45 AM |
And no one recognized Sontag?
by Anonymous | reply 428 | June 14, 2024 3:46 AM |
R425 As you age, names become more difficult to remember but I shouted out "Begins with P!" I was closer than they were.
by Anonymous | reply 429 | June 14, 2024 3:47 AM |
R429, I did the same thing! I was saying, “Something with a P!”
by Anonymous | reply 430 | June 14, 2024 4:05 AM |
Adriana is just a steamroller. Continues to be impressive.
I knew Final before Ken finished reading the clue.
by Anonymous | reply 431 | June 14, 2024 6:01 AM |
I like how cool, calm, and collected Adriana is. She reminds me of one of my academic rivals from college who always pushed me to be better by simply being brilliant and unflappable.
Although I’m surprised how many questions that *I* think of as almost throwaways she tends to miss (Joseph Heller?) I think she has long-term potential as a super champ but there might be areas that are weaknesses.
She is excellent at any category that has a “game” to it and tends to go to those first. I also appreciate starting with a $200 clue to warm us up and see what the category is about. I hate the players who try to scrap up all the $1,000 clues at the beginning of the game.
by Anonymous | reply 432 | June 14, 2024 4:02 PM |
I don't know why I hate the champ. She seems nice. Not too weird. There's just something about her that rubs me the wrong way. I really could have done without the shit story. BUT I was crossing my fingers that she would dump one right there on the ALEX TREBEK STAGE. I had no idea about the final.
by Anonymous | reply 433 | June 14, 2024 4:03 PM |
R433, How do we know she didn’t? They could have stopped taping while she was ushered to the nearest toilet.
by Anonymous | reply 434 | June 14, 2024 4:25 PM |
Agree, r433. Has it already been suggested she's an AI creation?
by Anonymous | reply 435 | June 14, 2024 6:16 PM |
Adriana's obviously looking to be the commercial spokesperson for one of the IBS meds advertised on Jeopardy! by one of the show's Big Pharma sponsors. Now, all that's needed is a catchy tune like the one used in the Jardiance ads, and she can dance around happy that she's not crapping her pants.
by Anonymous | reply 436 | June 14, 2024 7:51 PM |
R436, Wrong colon. Hakme was Miss IBS.
by Anonymous | reply 437 | June 14, 2024 8:07 PM |
It was classy of Ken not to raise a stink about Hakme's tasteless "take me to your toilet" romantic fan fic. I hope they add her to their commercial about how it takes all kinds to make a Jeopardy contestant and label her "scat freak".
by Anonymous | reply 438 | June 14, 2024 8:19 PM |
Wonder what Halme's other anecdotes were, the ones they rejected in favor of this one.
by Anonymous | reply 439 | June 14, 2024 11:29 PM |
I have to say the look on Ken's face and his OK was worth it. I mean seriously? They wouldn't let her talk about her herpes?
by Anonymous | reply 440 | June 14, 2024 11:31 PM |
R439, Can you not see R426?
by Anonymous | reply 441 | June 14, 2024 11:57 PM |
Excellent competitive game tonight.
I was Team Kaitlin until she gave that idiotic “Truman” response instead of “Houdini”.
She really thought Truman died in 1926???
by Anonymous | reply 442 | June 15, 2024 3:53 AM |
Great game! All three went into final with 5-figures!
I was rooting for Kaitlin, but was just rolling my eyes at the Truman response.
I had no idea on Final. Had no idea affirmative action dated back to 1961. Always assumed it originated in the 70s.
by Anonymous | reply 443 | June 15, 2024 6:03 AM |
Yeah that was a tough FJ after a few easy ones.
Does anyone know where our lovably AI Bot stands in the all time money list? Upthread someone says she was already number 16.
by Anonymous | reply 444 | June 15, 2024 6:25 AM |
FJ came to me at the last second, I never would have had enough time to write it down.
by Anonymous | reply 445 | June 15, 2024 7:17 AM |
This guy was on Season 30, ten seasons ago.
Jeopardy! champ? He was only on for two games.
by Anonymous | reply 446 | June 15, 2024 4:31 PM |
With the three that were on last night....well I'm glad AI won.
by Anonymous | reply 447 | June 15, 2024 5:13 PM |
FJ for Friday, June 14:
"Affirmative action" was the answer for an "alliterative phrase."
"Alliterative" refers to "alliteration," which is the repetition on stressed syllables of a consonant sound.
A similar repetition of a vowel sound is called "assonance."
So the clue led me astray and ticked me off!
by Anonymous | reply 448 | June 16, 2024 4:29 AM |
Don’t overthink it, R448.
by Anonymous | reply 449 | June 16, 2024 7:03 AM |
R448. Me, too!! My prosody class from 1977 kicked in.
by Anonymous | reply 450 | June 16, 2024 1:30 PM |
Stupid Shit.
by Anonymous | reply 451 | June 16, 2024 9:32 PM |
I’ve reached the “enough already” stage with Adriana.
by Anonymous | reply 452 | June 18, 2024 3:04 AM |
Yeah. AI needs to go. I'm laughing at how many people I know hate her for no real reason.
by Anonymous | reply 453 | June 18, 2024 3:05 AM |
No, r451. But neither is your signature. 😛
by Anonymous | reply 454 | June 18, 2024 3:26 AM |
Much as I admire Adriana I was rooting for handsome Troy but just knew, in spite of his relatively strong showing, would be beaten.
I found FJ very hard. Thought maybe.....Silkwood? And....and....... but couldn't even remember if that was the 90s or 80s.
by Anonymous | reply 455 | June 18, 2024 3:35 AM |
Ugh! My DVR cut off FJ!
I assume our Favorite AI Bot won?
by Anonymous | reply 456 | June 18, 2024 6:19 AM |
Here in LA, my DVR also cut off the final minutes, so I missed Final Jeopardy! But I went to YouTube and watched Final.
Even though full episodes of each day's Jeopardy! are quickly taken down from YouTube, the clip of the day's Final always remains posted. The one I watched was posted by Sony as it had a clip at the end of Mayim and Ken saying to subscribe to get the latest updates.
It was a good game, Troy made an impressive comeback.
As for Final, I'm a movie buff but I was drawing a blank of the Best Picture winners of the 1990s.
What a bizarre category name -- Two Last Names, Same First Letter. That sounds more like a Wheel of Fortune category than a Jeopardy! category.
by Anonymous | reply 457 | June 18, 2024 8:01 AM |
I got FJ!
I remembered Shakespeare in Love and then tried to recall another S Oscar winner: Schindler's List.
by Anonymous | reply 458 | June 18, 2024 8:07 AM |
By the time I could unravel the answer, it was too late.
by Anonymous | reply 459 | June 18, 2024 12:39 PM |
FJ was easy for any true Oscar queen/completist. Just zip led through the winners in my head until I got to Shakespeare in Love.
by Anonymous | reply 460 | June 18, 2024 1:23 PM |
Seems a lot of easy questions for an archivist over the last couple of weeks.
by Anonymous | reply 461 | June 18, 2024 1:41 PM |
When Ken announced what the FJ category would be I assumed the correct response would be something like John Singer Sargent.
by Anonymous | reply 462 | June 18, 2024 2:39 PM |
She’s a very bright, but very boring champion. I’m ready for someone new—she’s earned her spot in the TOC .
by Anonymous | reply 463 | June 18, 2024 4:40 PM |
I had absolutely no idea about FJ
I didn’t even know what the hell they were looking for. I didn’t understand the clue. ☺️
by Anonymous | reply 464 | June 18, 2024 6:08 PM |
Adriana has no personality. She’s good but she’s a snooze to watch.
by Anonymous | reply 465 | June 19, 2024 1:46 AM |
I got FJ, but again put the show on pause till I figured it out. If I were a contestant I'd have been too late.
by Anonymous | reply 466 | June 19, 2024 2:00 AM |
Adriana had some competition from the other female contestent. She actually looked unnerved for a bit.
by Anonymous | reply 467 | June 19, 2024 2:07 AM |
Close game... Adriana is really good. She wrote the FJ answer at the absolutely last second. I got FJ.
by Anonymous | reply 468 | June 19, 2024 3:30 AM |
Another Wheel of Fortune-like category name? Geographic Name’s Almost the Same. Have WofF writers joined the Jeopardy! staff?
Good game. I liked both challengers, especially Mark.
I figured out Final almost immediately.
by Anonymous | reply 469 | June 19, 2024 7:54 AM |
The 90s Oscar FJ was unnecessarily complicated.
"Category: Academy Award Winners."
"The titles of these two 1990s 'Best Picture' winners begin with the surnames of real people."
by Anonymous | reply 470 | June 19, 2024 7:58 AM |
I also thought Silkwood. But wrong decade.
by Anonymous | reply 471 | June 19, 2024 6:01 PM |
R471, And not an Academy Award winner.
by Anonymous | reply 472 | June 19, 2024 6:34 PM |
And it didn’t win Picture (wasn’t even nominated).

Yay!!!!!! Thank you, Drew!! Goodbye Adrianna.
Team Drew all the way.
by Anonymous | reply 476 | June 20, 2024 12:57 AM |
New champion mostly due to him betting big on a daily double and getting it right.
by Anonymous | reply 477 | June 20, 2024 1:00 AM |
I didn't get to see it tonight! I missed AI losing. FUCK. I rejoice anyway.

FJ - I guess Adriana and Drew aren't familiar with Ralph Lauren.
by Anonymous | reply 479 | June 20, 2024 1:05 AM |
Awkward handshakes after Drew dethroned Adriana.
by Anonymous | reply 480 | June 20, 2024 1:08 AM |
Oh god.. She let someone touch her. You know she took a Silkwood shower when she got home. Either that or she had to reboot. Update her firmware.

Fucking Howdy Doody asshole.
😡
by Anonymous | reply 484 | June 20, 2024 1:30 AM |
He kept pointing at the screen for each answer. Then he stopped. Wonder if the show asked him to stop.
by Anonymous | reply 485 | June 20, 2024 1:38 AM |
Can anyone post revealing pictures from his "Survivor" jaunt?
by Anonymous | reply 486 | June 20, 2024 1:41 AM |
I like AI and found this winner annoying. I hope this is short-lived.
by Anonymous | reply 487 | June 20, 2024 1:58 AM |
Tonight’s entire set of clues was unusually easy, including FJ. Also not a fan of Drew. Seems like a total douchebag. I agree that producers told him to knock it off with the pointing at the board.
by Anonymous | reply 488 | June 20, 2024 2:55 AM |
6/19: Another poorly-worded FJ. Who's writing these now---AI? An intern? Jeez Louise.
"...what's being played...." A song? A game? The TV? A sucker watching 3-Card Monte?
by Anonymous | reply 489 | June 20, 2024 3:18 AM |
Wow. Adriana just quit trying once Drew got that Daily Double. Apparently she just lost her mojo because almost everything she answered after that DD was wrong.
Those were very awkward handshakes at the end. She was clearly unhappy.
Drew doesn't annoy me too much, but I suspect I will tire of him after 2 or 3 games, if he goes that far.
I agree, Final was poorly worded. I was unsure what it was referring to being played. Consequently, I had no idea for Final, but then I'm not a cologne person.
by Anonymous | reply 490 | June 20, 2024 5:09 AM |
I kinda wanter her to get top ten all time.
Oh well.
She'll be fine with her winnings and TOC in a bit.
by Anonymous | reply 491 | June 20, 2024 10:00 AM |
Just how tall is he?
by Anonymous | reply 492 | June 20, 2024 12:36 PM |
“Drew Basile is a 23-year-old who stands tall at 6 feet and 2 inches. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. While he hails from the state of Michigan, he shifted his life to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to work when the pandemic was ongoing.“
by Anonymous | reply 493 | June 20, 2024 1:11 PM |
Looks taller than 6'2"
by Anonymous | reply 494 | June 20, 2024 2:50 PM |
Oh God. I'd rather have Drew Barrymore. And I loathe her. Still hate AI though.
by Anonymous | reply 495 | June 20, 2024 3:55 PM |
Why all the Drew hate on here?
Because he was on “Survivor”?
by Anonymous | reply 496 | June 20, 2024 3:59 PM |
Not usually a Jeopardy viewer, but I liked Drew on Survivor, so I’ll tune in. Was his Survivor background mentioned on the show?
by Anonymous | reply 497 | June 20, 2024 4:53 PM |
Bless your heart, R497.
by Anonymous | reply 498 | June 20, 2024 5:24 PM |
I thought FJ was ridiculously easy.
And how could Adriana have guessed Endeavour instead of Bounty? She really was ready to go home I think.
I like Drew, look forward to more of him.
by Anonymous | reply 499 | June 20, 2024 6:51 PM |
Jesus. I'm 6' 4", Are people calling me Gigantor behind my back?
by Anonymous | reply 500 | June 20, 2024 7:23 PM |
R500 - maybe Goliath. Or Lurch. (I'm joking.)
Anyway, I didn't mind Drew. Anyone who uses the word "noggin" is OK with me, although he did have a weird habit of always looking to the right (his left) quite a bit.
by Anonymous | reply 501 | June 20, 2024 7:41 PM |
[quote]although he did have a weird habit of always looking to the right (his left) quite a bit.
He was looking at the scoreboard.
The players scores are posted on a tote board to the left of the clueboard.
They never show the scoreboard on TV, but its there.

Then DO NOT SCROLL FURTHER, if you want to avoid the SPOILER.

I like Drew!
by Anonymous | reply 515 | June 21, 2024 5:21 PM |
“I’ve been watching Jeopardy all my life.”
Consistently does not answer in the form of a question, then looks at everybody like “What?” In the past people were fucking declared wrong when they didn’t phrase it in a question. Guy finally says, “What is the correct answer?” and then looks around like “I can’t believe I had to say that.”
by Anonymous | reply 516 | June 21, 2024 7:02 PM |
One of the last parts of the multi-part try-out back in the day was a practice game, showing correct buzz-in timing and correct answer phrasing. Maybe that's now omitted.
by Anonymous | reply 517 | June 21, 2024 11:01 PM |
Great finish tonight.
When was the last tie?
FJ was easy for me, only because I’m 72.
by Anonymous | reply 518 | June 22, 2024 1:24 AM |
Re: r513.
The clue read, "....Vin Scully announced that he....."
In my world, the antecedent of a pronoun is the closest preceding noun, in this case "Vin Scully." Now, I've been familiar with who Scully was since forever, but I thought, maybe he broke some kind of record? And got a standing ovation for it!
Would it have been so hard to write "this man" instead of that initial "he"? WOULD IT?!
by Anonymous | reply 519 | June 22, 2024 8:13 AM |
I miss Alex Trebek and Johnny Gilbert. AI technology could bring them back so to speak but the producers clearly have no interest in making that happen.
by Anonymous | reply 520 | June 22, 2024 8:39 AM |
I’m not dead!
by Anonymous | reply 521 | June 22, 2024 8:45 AM |
My apologies Mr. Gilbert. You are aware you're 95 though right?
by Anonymous | reply 523 | June 22, 2024 11:25 AM |
At least I don’t repeat myself.
by Anonymous | reply 524 | June 22, 2024 11:46 AM |
Final was incredibly easy to me. And I'm not a sports person.
However, I did not get the tie breaker. I think its been about two years since we had a game decided by tie breaker. Definitely since Alex's death because I remember Ken kinda stumbling through how to handle it.
I agree that Final was worded poorly and the "he" came across as Vin Scully doing something.
Would have been better if the "he" had been "this person."
The real Johnny Gilbert is 95 and still alive. He came out on stage at the end of the show a few weeks ago when they were celebrating the 9,000th episode. He talked about when Jeopardy began in 1984, producers were so unsure if it would work in syndication, it only had a 13 week commitment. Johnny was shorter than I imagined but he looked fairly healthy for a 95 year old.
by Anonymous | reply 525 | June 22, 2024 11:47 AM |
So, my question is: was the wording of that Vin Scully clue INTENTIONALLY trying to make it harder?
There have definitely been at least a couple of tie breakers since Alex died.
by Anonymous | reply 526 | June 22, 2024 2:09 PM |
Are Alex Trebek’s widow and children okay with his face not appearing on his just issued postage stamp?
by Anonymous | reply 527 | June 22, 2024 3:05 PM |
I also wracked my brain trying to figure out when Vin Scully was given a standing ovation in the Deep South.
by Anonymous | reply 528 | June 22, 2024 5:05 PM |
Speaking of the Deep South, color me stunned when I heard what Mr October, Reggie Jackson said when ARod, perhaps naively, asked about his experiences whilst in that particular park.
I chuckle every time I remember how the ‘81 Dodgers beat those damn Yankees. Fun times!
by Anonymous | reply 529 | June 22, 2024 7:19 PM |
Since it was the deep south, and I interned there, I was racking my brain for a football player.
by Anonymous | reply 530 | June 22, 2024 8:50 PM |
I thought it was Carl Lewis.
by Anonymous | reply 531 | June 22, 2024 11:18 PM |
You had to know the Vin Scully was an announcer for Major League Baseball to get to the Hank Aaron answer.
Scully was best known as the Voice of the LA Dodgers. When he died in 2022, the Dodgers renamed the road leading to Dodger Stadium to "Vin Scully Way."
He also occassionally announced football, golf and some other sports, but baseball was where he achieved his fame.
by Anonymous | reply 532 | June 22, 2024 11:49 PM |
Anyone who was alive in 1974 would know the correct response was Hank Aaron.
His quest to break Babe Ruth’s home run record that season received as much media coverage as every move Taylor Swift makes today.
by Anonymous | reply 533 | June 23, 2024 12:04 AM |
I’ve only watched Jeopardy in the last few decades when they have had a long-running champion who became water cooler talk. So only Ken & James. I’m watching now because I liked Drew on Survivor. I had no notion that there is now a tie-breaker question. About how long ago was that introduced?
by Anonymous | reply 534 | June 23, 2024 12:34 AM |
I thought Delta Airlines was obvious, had no clue about final. HATE this tie-breaker shite! Why can't they just bring both back next day?
by Anonymous | reply 535 | June 23, 2024 1:00 AM |
R533, Funny you should say this. I was 24, no doubt read of the April 1974 home run record and headlines, but went right back to my teaching job and summer vacation planning. MLB didn't loom large in my existence.
As I indicated, I got hung up on the egregious syntax of the "answer," and couldn't turn it around.

How much you wanna bet Drew beats Adriana's record?
by Anonymous | reply 537 | June 25, 2024 12:24 AM |
Hope so! Poor Erin. That's gotta hurt.
by Anonymous | reply 538 | June 25, 2024 12:52 AM |
I don't get how Erin passed the qualifying test?
Ceres was my final guess, too. Drew hasn't mentioned a girlfriend yet, just his "bro's". Like my pals in this thread, I don't know about het life first-hand. But, he seems dedicated to not going "there" to me.

Once upon a time I taught a semester class in Greek and Roman mythology to high school students.
So I know the myth of Persephone and her kidnapping to the Underworld. What planet is remotely associated with the Underworld? Pluto.
Knowing nothing else, I guessed "a moon of Pluto."
😀 💅

I am extremely uninterested in, perhaps even repelled by the thought of, Drew’s orientation and proclivities.
by Anonymous | reply 541 | June 25, 2024 1:36 AM |
Is Erin’s $7,200.00 in the red a Jeopardy! record?
by Anonymous | reply 542 | June 25, 2024 1:39 AM |
He would have been a good Kelpian friend for Star Trek Discovery's Saru.
by Anonymous | reply 543 | June 25, 2024 1:39 AM |
I enjoy Drew’s enthusiasm after weeks of Adriana’s catatonia.
by Anonymous | reply 544 | June 25, 2024 1:43 AM |
Just $200 shy of the record, r542. Humiliating nonetheless
by Anonymous | reply 545 | June 25, 2024 1:53 AM |
The lighting designer was a hot daddy bear. Sorry to see him go. Every time it seemed like he was gaining on Drew he flubbed.
by Anonymous | reply 546 | June 25, 2024 3:20 AM |
I am a bad human. I want to slap Drew.
(ha, no one knew Brandi Carlyle.)
by Anonymous | reply 547 | June 25, 2024 3:28 AM |
Erin, yikes! But she had nothing to loose trying to get out of the red.
I liked Graham. Sorry he couldn’t give Drew a run for his money.
I had no idea on Final.
by Anonymous | reply 548 | June 25, 2024 8:06 AM |
lose, Johnny, not loose!
by Anonymous | reply 549 | June 25, 2024 1:51 PM |
Johnny’s a dumbass.
by Anonymous | reply 550 | June 25, 2024 2:04 PM |
Good for Drew!
by Anonymous | reply 551 | June 26, 2024 1:46 AM |
I hated Drew's "oh, I missed it and am going to lose" acting on FJ. Just play the game young man.
by Anonymous | reply 552 | June 26, 2024 3:30 AM |
I bet Drew has a huge cock. I hate Ken Jennings.
by Anonymous | reply 553 | June 26, 2024 3:53 AM |
Are those two thoughts connected, r583?

Drew blushed like a schoolgirl over those Probst compliments.
by Anonymous | reply 557 | June 26, 2024 12:53 PM |
Can you blame him, r557?
by Anonymous | reply 558 | June 26, 2024 3:02 PM |
It kills me how close to Literature the c Clue Crew hems.
As a math teacher, we can do a bit less than having 60% of categories tied to antiquated literature.
"You should read more!"
Yes, because most Americans are familiar with 18th Century British Impressionism....

Not only did I not get FJ I answered hardly any of the questions in the other rounds. The champ is growing on me He may have upped his dose of Adderall.
by Anonymous | reply 560 | June 27, 2024 12:38 AM |
No one knew Bob Hope?
by Anonymous | reply 561 | June 27, 2024 12:52 AM |
Drew is one knowledgeable 23 year old.
by Anonymous | reply 562 | June 27, 2024 12:58 AM |
All I could think of was Charge of the Light Brigade. Didn't think tonight's question were easier or more difficult than usual.
Did Drew say "Back when I was a batchelor"? The idea of him roaming around in the dark with a can of tuna was pretty funny.
by Anonymous | reply 563 | June 27, 2024 1:00 AM |
His "Achtung" was cringe-worthy anemic.
by Anonymous | reply 564 | June 27, 2024 1:01 AM |
I got FJ immediately but I could never remember the poem's title, though I always remember it begins with an "O." (In fact I've forgotten the title already and I just finished watching the game.)
I lost track of the number of times Drew kept adjusting his pants.
And about yesterday's game: that guy at the end - Deputy Droop-a-Long - was about as unenergetic a contestant as I've seen in a while.
by Anonymous | reply 565 | June 27, 2024 1:20 AM |
Saw this on the Jeopardy website: a Pride Month quiz.
by Anonymous | reply 566 | June 27, 2024 1:24 AM |
Drew’s height made me wonder, has there ever been a “little person” Jeopardy! contestant?
by Anonymous | reply 567 | June 27, 2024 1:38 AM |
Yes.. Ken. He's a very little person.
by Anonymous | reply 568 | June 27, 2024 2:46 AM |
Drew's run out of clothes. I suspect he just bought that purple shirt and those pants in LA that he wore tonight on the show, hence his constant tugging.
They were all way too young to have heard of Bob Hope or even "ski-nosed" as an adjective.
I never knew the name for that 2-sided Scottish hat was a glengarry.
by Anonymous | reply 569 | June 27, 2024 2:58 AM |
As long as “Johnny Gilbert” stays away from here. He’s useless.
by Anonymous | reply 570 | June 27, 2024 3:26 AM |

Bullshit, R569, Bob Hope is legendary.
by Anonymous | reply 573 | June 27, 2024 7:59 AM |
At only 23, Drew has already achieved some fame on both Survivor and Jeopardy. Where does he go from here?
by Anonymous | reply 574 | June 27, 2024 9:39 AM |
r573, where would anyone under 35 have encountered Bob Hope?
What would you suggest they watch to understand his "legendary" status?
by Anonymous | reply 575 | June 27, 2024 2:53 PM |
R575, Bob Hope died in 2003, not that long ago in the world of popular culture.
He and Jack Benny are probably the two most famous known comedians.
Bob Hope is all over YouTube, recent biographies have been published and as previously stated, he is a true legend.
Drew had no problem knowing the movie “Gigi” was released in 1958, which is a lot more obscure than knowing that Bob Hope was known as “Ski Nose”.
Contestants prepare for the show and knowing popular culture is a must.
by Anonymous | reply 576 | June 27, 2024 4:10 PM |
I like watching the videos of Hope performing for the soldiers during WWII. For his time he was rather subversive. Then he just shit the bed after the war.
by Anonymous | reply 577 | June 27, 2024 4:46 PM |
The film of GIGI is still shown constantly on TV. The films of Bob Hope, not so much anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 578 | June 27, 2024 6:42 PM |
R578, His films are probably what Bob Hope is known for least.
Nice try, but no, sorry.
by Anonymous | reply 579 | June 27, 2024 7:34 PM |
That Bob Hope is so little remembered, if at all, is quite a shock to the system.
by Anonymous | reply 580 | June 27, 2024 8:35 PM |
Bob Hope hosted the Academy Awards nineteen(19) times and all of them are on YouTube.
He took a group of stars with him every Christmas to entertain troops for many years.
His television specials were highly rated for years.
He lived to be 100. He’ll never be “forgotten”.
by Anonymous | reply 581 | June 27, 2024 9:04 PM |
First of all, I'm a fan of Bob Hope. Loved watching his Road movies when I was a teenager but that was back in the 1970s.
Nevertheless, I can't imagine any twenty-something today being curious about him or invested in finding him on youtube. I think if they even watched a minute of him in one of his films, entertaining the troops or hosting the Oscars, they'd quickly be bored or perplexed. Call me a cynic.
I'll still give Drew and the other players a pass for not coming up with his name.
by Anonymous | reply 582 | June 27, 2024 10:27 PM |
R582, If you’re about to be a contestant on a game show that specializes in knowing much about a lot of topics, one of them being popular culture, you read, you study, you cram, you try to soak up as much information as possible from various sources.
Knowing the identity of one of the most famous show business personalities of the last century is not asking too much.
by Anonymous | reply 583 | June 27, 2024 10:59 PM |
I was screaming and screaming the FJ question at Drew!
Big dummy.
by Anonymous | reply 584 | June 28, 2024 12:25 AM |
Had no idea of Final, but did get navy bean soup and Doris Kearns-Goodwin.
by Anonymous | reply 585 | June 28, 2024 12:59 AM |
R584, Not dumb, he won.
by Anonymous | reply 586 | June 28, 2024 1:18 AM |
I liked Jagger and was impressed he knew Final. I sure didn’t know Final.
Sorry Jagger lost his mojo after missing that Daily Double.
by Anonymous | reply 587 | June 28, 2024 11:00 AM |
I grew up in Kentucky, my father is an honorary Kentucky Colonel, and I didn't think of Colonel Sanders for the final. How did you know Navy bean, r585?
by Anonymous | reply 588 | June 28, 2024 7:42 PM |
Because navy bean soup has come up before, R588.
by Anonymous | reply 589 | June 28, 2024 7:43 PM |

Here's the link to a new Jeopardy! thread.

Good god!! I need a lozenge from yelling “moron!” at the screen.
by Anonymous | reply 591 | June 28, 2024 11:26 PM |
Drew was really off his game and deserved to go home.
I wonder if he assumed Helen Keeler was just too obvious a response (as I did, but I couldn't come up with anyone else).
I have a feeling the new Monkey Girl champ won't last long.
by Anonymous | reply 592 | June 29, 2024 12:59 AM |
Drew knows Rin Tin Tin but not Bob Hope? Bob's estate handlers need to work on getting his visage into video games or something. As soon as Drew began flaunting his heterosexuality, I kind of guessed it was time for him to go. And the audience seemed overjoyed that Cat ate the canary. Was Drew considered an unlikeable champ? I sensed no issue with his streak, beyond his being emotive at times, but at least he wasn't in the swinging chair like the one guy.
by Anonymous | reply 593 | June 29, 2024 1:22 AM |
Cat wrote “Hellen Keller” and it was accepted?
Isn’t correct spelling usually a must?
by Anonymous | reply 594 | June 29, 2024 1:24 AM |
What a stinker! It looked for a while like they were all going to finish the Jeopardy round in the red.
I guessed Anne Sullivan for Final since I thought Helen seemed to obvious.
by Anonymous | reply 595 | June 29, 2024 2:02 AM |
Drew was completely off today. How do you not write Helen Keller for an answer??
That was so, so easy.
by Anonymous | reply 596 | June 29, 2024 2:04 AM |
I can only think that a Swiss ancestor might have thrown Dew off.
by Anonymous | reply 597 | June 29, 2024 2:33 AM |
I thought it was Anne Sullivan too since she was also a teacher to a deaf woman which made that part of the clue make more sense to me than Helen Keller. But I knew that Sullivan was mainly Irish so was not confident.
by Anonymous | reply 598 | June 29, 2024 2:54 AM |
I guessed Helen Reddy
by Anonymous | reply 599 | June 29, 2024 5:47 AM |
