The bear guy is cute.

But it terrifies me, every time he lets the bears get near his face or fingers!

Don’t let your pets chase or play with prairie dogs as they carry bubonic plague due to their fleas. They also have one of most complex communication systems that’s been studied.

I was just in Colorado and saw a ton of them while driving through a caldera. They were adorable.

by Anonymousreply 13April 16, 2024 3:55 PM

^I meant New Mexico

[QUOTE]

Same with wild rabbits. Even if you cook and eat one you can still become contaminated with bubonic plague if they were carrying it.

he is an asshole. these are wild animals not pets

by Anonymousreply 17April 17, 2024 11:48 AM

0 sympathy for people who keep wild animals as pets and get killed.

Who was that guy who kept going out to Alaska and camping really close to the grizzly bears to film them? He ended up getting eaten by one of them.

by Anonymousreply 25April 18, 2024 9:32 PM

It's wonderful what he's able to do, but those videos will give idiots the wrong idea about those animals.

by Anonymousreply 26April 18, 2024 9:37 PM

R25 I never hear of that story! It reminds me of this horrific old story now forgotten by history. Something happened at a mountain pass, I think it was in the Andes or the Yukon or somewhere. If only there was a way to get details on these kinds of things. But I don't want go downtown to the public library. There's always some smelly hobos and I think there are bedbugs in the books.

Meanwhile, idiots are yanking black bear cubs out of trees in North Carolina.

The animal caretaker guy is so cute.

He's a great narrator, and should have his own show.

He could be the next Jack Hanna!

Anyone know his name, or where he's located? It has to be a northern state because it snows a lot where he's at.

Oh man, I'm so sad that Tyler actually died!

It was a freak accident while he was cleaning out the giraffe's cage.

He loved those bears so much.

They must be so sad.

Deer Tracks Junction Adventure Park

The Powell Family would like to extend our appreciation to the first responders, medical staff, and our community. The prayers, love, and support have blessed us more than you will ever know.

Regarding the tragic accident, honestly, we don't know what happened. What we do know is that Kelly and Tyler were working in the giraffe enclosure. The giraffe had been safely shifted to an empty enclosure prior to them entering. Tyler used a 6ft ladder to assist him in securing a 2x4. Kelly had turned away for a second and heard a loud noise. He turned around to see Tyler falling and he tried to catch him. As any parent knows, the fact that he failed to catch him and Tyler fell to the cement is a haunting memory.

Our family has received a lot of questions in the past few days. Please allow our family some grace during this tragic time. We do not know all the circumstances that caused this accident, but we want to be transparent with all of you.

Whenever you work with large animals, the thought is there that they can hurt you without even trying. Every precaution with the animal was taken properly, but in Kelly's shocked mind, his worst fear had just happened, and somehow, the giraffe hurt his son. We are being very honest with the fact that we just don’t know what happened. Statements that were made at the time of the accident were said from shock, fear, and confusion that anyone would feel during a time like that. Somehow, Tyler fell off the ladder, and that is all that we know.

Tyler loves every animal that we have. Their care and quality of life has always been his passion. He was not careless or ignorant of the dangers. Please get to know him on his social media outlets on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok: TyAmongAnimals.

A bear killed him and they are trying to front it out by saying it was a fall. These close relationships between humans and apex predators never end well.

by Anonymousreply 36July 21, 2024 6:06 AM

Crazy conspiracy theorist at R36.

This family was always transparent about the animals.

And those bears LOVED Ty. They would never attack him.

In case you can't read, he FELL from a ladder.

by Anonymousreply 37July 21, 2024 9:42 PM

[quote] he FELL from a ladder.

by Anonymousreply 38July 21, 2024 9:44 PM

OP, About a year ago somebody posted a video of cute bears on here and I’ve been obsessed ever since. I want a bear cub as a pet. I know I’d have to be rich in a mansion or ranch but ever since someone posted that video I’ve watched National Geographic documentaries, YouTube vids, even some harrowing ones with bears attacking humans. I’m like obsessed with bears now.

by Anonymousreply 39July 21, 2024 9:54 PM

Oh my I was shocked to hear about his passing just casually reading the comments. Oh my. What a freak accident.

by Anonymousreply 40July 21, 2024 10:09 PM

He fell from a ladder which he climbed to escape a murderous bear. Unfortunately, the bear followed him up and started to maul him. He fell off and was fatally injured.

[QUOTE] And those bears LOVED Ty. They would never attack him.

Timothy Treadwell also thought the bears loved him.

[quote] Timothy Treadwell also thought the bears loved him.

Those were wild bears.

These were domesticated bears that he cared for since their birth.

And he knew his boundaries with them.

by Anonymousreply 43July 22, 2024 7:38 AM

In all his years working with them, he never suffered any (major) injuries.

He said just scratches, here and there.

That ignorant poster who keeps comparing this to Timmy is wrong. These were domesticated bears. Plus you can’t cover up a coroner’s report. He simply fell of a latter in a tragic accident.

by Anonymousreply 46July 22, 2024 3:58 PM

[QUOTE] He simply fell of a latter in a tragic accident.

Girl, you are illiterate as well as ignorant. There is no such thing as a 'domesticated bear.' The prey/kill instinct is simply too strong.

by Anonymousreply 47July 23, 2024 3:56 AM

Ty's black bears were definitely domesticated.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 48July 23, 2024 4:01 AM

they are tame, not domesticated. domesticated is a breading term, not a behavior term

[QUOTE] domesticated is a breading term

Oh, dear.

[quote] Girl, you are illiterate as well as ignorant. There is no such thing as a 'domesticated bear.' The prey/kill instinct is simply too strong.

I don't know, Russians seem to be able to domesticate bears.

They have an interesting relationship with bears, like no other group of people.

Look at this guy with a HUGE Brown Bear eating off his dinner table at home.

The bear is so adorable, acting like a big baby.

And brown bears are larger and more dangerous than black bears.
