I hate good looking people. Life is not fair. They should not look as good as they do all these years later.
And most of them look fabulous.

[quote]And most of them look fabulous.
True but some of those pics are heavily photoshopped.

Ffft R1. That is the magic of photoshop you are looking at. I know Goldie Hawn at least does not look like that in reality, even with full makeup. Which at 78, I wouldn't expect her to, but don’t take these pictures as real.

I love how they called Linda Evans “old” on her cover. She was 40!
by Anonymous | reply 4 | April 12, 2024 12:43 PM

She is one of the most heavily photoshopped R4.

Rob Lowe can still get it.
Lionel Ritchie comes out ok.
Poor Harry Hamlin has lost his boyishness. Now he just looks like an angry middle management type.
Linda Evans looks like a drag queen.
I’m surprised they chose Maury and Connie because who remembers them?
Why did they lead with that horrible Goldie Hawn cover? Both are mortifying.

They threw every smoothing filter in the toolbox at these photos!

It's worse than Brendad Ickson.

Goldie can't get her leg back as far as in the original but not bad for an old lady. Heavily touched up though.

When did Harry Hamlin turn into Bryan Cranston?

Ricky Martin looks better now.

Linda Evans is wearing a terrible wig.

What the hell happened to Harry Hamlin's lips? Did Lisa Rinna steal them to plaster atop her own overly generous ones?
I've never before seen somebody so full-lipped in youth turn into Peter Cushing. Weird.

I noticed the same R15. Among the many cruelties of aging, do our lips shrink? Ugh.

Woof Fabio and that smoooothing of the face.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 12, 2024 4:48 PM

This is a cute idea. I doubt they'd have chosen anyone that looks horrible now.

I think Ricky Lake looks good.

Kathleen Turner must have broke the bed spring!

I see Clint Black has turned into a Eurasian woman. Lisa Hartman still looks good and Lionel and Rob, ageless.

This seems like a giant spread for showing the advantages of the latest version of Photoshop.
It makes faces look more natural! People still look human! Buy Photoshop today!!

That Fabio issue was the worst-selling issue of “People” at the time.

Poor Rikki Lake turned into Madge from the PTA. You would never believe she was once a starlet of independent films.

That was fun - I like stuff like that.
Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner were great to see together again.

She was *never* a starlet, r27. She was always a character actress.

Clint Black , what did yiu do to your face? A different person.
Most look really good but Donna’s photo has been heavily shopped.

Gosh, photoshop or no, these pictures are all a cautionary tale about plastic surgery, fillers, and botox.

Ricki Lake should do another show. She always came across as so genuine and normal.
She's doing a podcast these days, and limited TV appearances. Meanwhile, Gayle King and Ryan Seacrest are never off the goddamn TV, and they're both as empty as a Scottish pay toilet!

I haven't looked at a People magazine in 30 years, but that's a really great idea.
Great trivia question: Who was on the first cover?

I think Ricki Lake looks the best and most natural of everyone.
But who the hell knows what photoshopping might have taken place on her photo as well.

Ricky Martin and Rickie Lake came out the most natural and maturing gracefully. Rob Lowe looks like a modern day Dorian Gray.

R50 Yes, part of Harry Hamlin beauty was his full lips. Some people do lose their lips when they get older.

R51 Bill Hudson was the underrated star-fucker of the 1980s.
He had Jill St. John, then Goldie, then Ali McGraw, then Cindy Williams. He probably also snuck it in with Tyne Daly, Patti Davis, and the guy who did ALF's voice.

R53 I believe it's just genetics to lose your lips when you get older. I'm 63 and I still have the same full lips I had when I was a teen. My cousin who had the same full lips as I did, today has no lips whatsoever at age 61.
