Did Stanley Tucci and Edie Falco's affair cause a stir at the time?

I don't remember a big hue and cry about it at the time. Married men leave their wives and kids and then go back to them all the time. It's typical straight man behavior. He is now married to Emily Blunt's sister. They met at the premier of Devil Wears Prada when he worked with her sister.

I think it was one of those times where the onstage energy bled into real life. Happens a lot to theater people and to soap actors. Then usually once they go on to different plays (or another soap) the relationship falls apart. It was the fantasy bleeding into reality.
