Ever Ordered from AliExpress?
Thoughts? Opinions?
What did you order? How did it arrive? Any issues after?
I ordered a retro gaming console yesterday. Big discount from the same product at Amazon. Same distributor.
A friend of mine said I might as well have my credit card number changed now because it is probably already compromised.

That can be true whether Ali Express or AT&T has your cc data - actually more true with AT&T as whoever stole their files got everything: dob, questions and answers, etc.
Ali Express, DH Gate, and Temu are all legit, take ten days to two weeks to deliver to the US East Coast and are usually priced lower than almost anywhere else, most especially Amazon. I’ve had dozens of orders from all three w/o any issues.

2025 here....I didn't want to start a new thread. I found something I want to buy on AliExpress. But I'm not sure how safe ordering is. I prefer to buy American (Ebay) but cannot find the same item. Anyone had a good experience or bad experience?

I did a couple times during the pandemic. It was fine. I got the exact same merchandise I could have bought on Amazon for 1/4 the price.

One thing to consider: All Chinese retailers probably know that they have yet to build a reputation of data safety. So I would expect the "legit" vendors to handle your data with the same care as US-vendors. Question is: Will the Chinese government let them to apply the same care, or is the snooping into their data mandatory? Also, would we get to hear if AliExpress' or Temu's data got stolen?

Like OP, I’ve bought several gaming devices from AliExpress without issue. No credit card issues yet, but you can also pay using PayPal or single use/virtual credit card number if your card offers it.

Curious to know any other purchases DLers have been satisfied with

I've flirted with purchasing stuff from AliExpress but decided against it.
The important query here is which retro gaming console?

Yes, pillow cases that were 10x more on Wayfair.
Identical.
They accept PayPal. No need to put any card info in.

Also I should add that if you need it sooner than 3-4 weeks dont bother. Their shit takes forever to arrive.

PayPal for everything. The bank only knows who you’re buying it from but not what.
I’ve brought clothing, a few household items, and a knockoff Hermes Avalon blanket that looks, feels, and folds just like the real thing ($33 vs $2000 for the real thing) used for real estate staging.
They usually take longer to ship but keep you posted almost daily as to where it is and when to expect delivery. Temu is faster.

r10 But will that knockoff blanket stand the test of time? ($2K is monetary insanity though.)
One of these days I have to send PayPal a $13 USD money order via mail to get my account reinstated; I forgot how to pay them! LOL I'm such a ditz.

Twice.
One order was for a bike rack to go on my mountain bike.
The second order was for some ... uhh ... "novelty" underwear.
The price on the bike rack couldn't be beat, and the underwear was not to be found anywhere else.
Both purchases were fine. No problems.

does the novelty underwear fit Occidental volumes?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | March 27, 2025 9:43 AM

It does if you order two sizes up, R13. A US Medium is an Asian XL. Knowing how to translate between inches and centimeters helps, too. As for the volume you reference, it depends on the cut. If it has a U-shaped pouch, boxers especially not only feel very supportive but look obscene which, for $3 or $4 a pair, is a great deal that makes your great deal look even greater.
Was it Playtex that claimed its bras “lift and separate”? Here it’s balls not boobs but the idea is the same.

R11 Mine must be 2 or 3 years old and it hasn’t pilled. It said “wool and cashmere” and if that’s true I’m guessing the ratio is about 95/5. To call it a blanket is an exaggeration. It’s bigger than a crib blanket but not even big enough for a twin bed. It’s more like a throw.
They sell lookalikes on Walmart, eBay, and Amazon but I have no idea about the quality or the materials. I’m surprised Hermes hasn’t shut them down

R7 Game devices come in different forms and price points. Even the cheapest ones can easily play Super Nintendo games.

OP here. Glad to see my old thread rose from the ashes like a phoenix.
Almost exactly a year later, I can say I was very happy with my purchase. There was a shipping issue that I can pretty much chalk up to the buffoonery of my local post office, but AliExpress took care of it all and resent the item right away.
No credit card issues so far.
r7 .... It is a Kinhank Super X5 console with the 4tb drive. It's on decent sale now on Amazon, but last year it was not.
The 4tb version has every Atari 2600, NEs, SNES, GameBoy, GameBoy Color, GameBoy Advanced, GameCube, Dreamcast, Sega and PlayStation 1 game released. There is also a more than healthy amount of PlayStation 2 games included. There are also quite a few Wii games, but they have never really worked for me. The big surpise for me is the inclusion of 100s of arcade ROMS. I very quickly got addicted to playing Qix and Tapper in the versions I remember from the arcade in my home town.
Lots of stuff on it...

I bought some swim briefs off Ali Express, cant say I've been impressed. You get what you pay for.

R14 Didnt work for me. Most of what I bought turned out too big for me, even though I ordered the smallest size available. I ended giving some of them to a friend who is bigger than I am, usually takes a medium. And the ones that did fit right to start with started getting baggy after a few uses - not unexpected, but thats why I wanted to order a couple of sizes down in order to allow for that. Will stick to Speedos next time from the local shops, will cost three times as much but last more than three times as long and fit right from the get go and stay that way

I just ordered for the first time, used a one-time use credit card number to be safe.

I've bought dress shoes, high quality PVC Harrods shopping bag dupes and other stuff from them over the years. Higher quality than Wish and Temu. I always use PayPal.
Did you get the Retroad 5+ portable gaming console that allows you play both official and homebrew (modded games or Japanese exclusive games patched into English) Super Nintendo cartridges?
I've been wanting that for a while now. But I'm going to put it off a bit longer until I get further caught up with my bills in addition to upgrading and redecorating my apartment.

I don't use PayPal anymore. I had a dispute with a merchant only accepting PayPal and the item they sent me was not at all as described. PayPal didn't help or care and left the charge. Fortunately I used my Amex through PayPal so I disputed the PayPal charge on my Amex and Amex found in my favor. It was a $900 item I thought I was getting a great deal on for $200. A lot of advertising on social media is fake or it drop ships from AliExpress. I think it's better to go directly to AliExpress.

I just checked the "Hermes" blanket and it's now 36 bucks but made of poly/cotton.
I'd take a shot if it was wool.

r21: glad you had some recourse against PayPal. I had no such luck during one of the worst times in my life when I sorely needed money that was given to me.
Backstory: I quit using PayPal in 2017 after they refused to give me $50 that someone had sent to me because I had closed the bank account that I had opened with PayPal years before. They didn't care that I had a new account with the same bank, they just flat-out wouldn't do anything to help me and kept my $50.
This was during a time I was homeless for 6 months and living in my car. Also, we had a major wildfire which burned down tons of businesses and homes in my area and my car had been broken into prior to the fire, with the thief making off with all the cash I had in the car and over $100 in my bank account (and I only had around that much at that point) because they got my debit card as well. So I had ZERO dollars, and PayPal did NOTHING to help.
So fuck PayPal violently with a chainsaw. I vowed to never use them again, and to also let others know that they don't give a SHIT about you, won't help you out in disputes and generally suck.

Do check the number of stars the seller has (5 is max) and read their reviews.

R23 I bought a couple of high quality "Louis Vuitton" scarves from them. The listing got pulled right after I ordered because Louis Vuitton was spelled correctly. Love those scarves. Wish I had gotten them in green and blue as well.
