I give her credit for knowing her limitations. Her looks had a shelf life and her vocals worked only when heavily produced. She made a smart move in marrying a guy with a history of producing radio hits. Knowing when to leave is an insight a lot of entertainers fail to embrace.

I am from Europe, and I didn’t know about Shania until 2003. The first song I heard from her, which is still my favorite, is "Ka-Ching." She continued being in the European charts and the news for two more years, but then she disappeared. However, I wouldn’t call this "going down the shitter" because she was apparently very famous from 1993 until at least 2006 and continues to have huge tours even today, despite not having a hit song in the last decade. I also liked some of the songs from her 2022 Queen of Me album. This is a solid career.

R26, that's shocking you didn't know who she was. She was massive in the UK, I visited there in 1999 and she was everywhere. Based on wiki, she was very successful on the continent too--Come on Over hit number one in Belgium, Denmark, The Netherlands, The European Album chart, Norway, etc

I think it’s because her music was derivative and unenjoyable. It was only enjoyable to people with little musical experience, knowledge, or taste.

She got screwed over by the producer husband and a female friend, then got together with the 'friends' ex husband, so they essentially spouse-swapped. But, she hasn't been laying around eating bon-bons.
