Remembering Patty Duke

Anna Marie "Patty" Duke died eight years ago today, 29 March 2016.

Over the course of her acting career, she was the recipient of an Academy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, three Primetime Emmy Awards, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Patty was one hell of an actress. A lovely person. And of course, a DL favorite.

Patty Duke was also an author. Her book, 'Call Me Anna.' was a brilliant memoir of her challenging, turbulent, joyful and ultimately successful life and career.

She was something else. Loved Anna.

A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is a purchase, not an honor.

R2. Move along. This thread is to remember and pay tribute to Patty Duke, not your snide cynicism.

If you can’t abide snide cynicism, you’re in the wrong place, Toots.

Also, we've had at least two other threads just like this in the past seven years or so...

Aw, I still miss her!

by Anonymousreply 6March 29, 2024 10:26 PM

Heavy sigh, call her ANNA!

Talented, great actress.

Patty Duke was a national treasure.

R8, YOU'LL LIKE MY MOTHER wasn't a TV movie, actually.

by Anonymousreply 11March 30, 2024 12:06 AM

She was a pathological liar actually.

A lovely, kind, thoughtful woman. And very talented.

Susan Dey sends her best.

Actor William Schallert on Patty Duke's offscreen life during "The Patty Duke Show"

You may find this clip of interest.... I never thought twice about this actor / but he's impressive in this clip.... quite moving.

She brought overacting to a whole new level in VOTD.
