If I remember the E! True Hollywood Story right, TPTB chose Patricia. Tim wanted Frances Fisher. In her interview, Patricia played it off as a joke, like that Tim would have enjoyed getting buddy-buddy with Frances' then-partner, Clint Eastwood, but I'm guessing that set the tone rather quickly.

I like how she and JTT phone each other to chat and dish on Allen's lies.

Normally it is tough to pull off a long, grey style like that but it frames her face beautifully and looks very classy-chic on her.

Not sure how it's possible but she somehow looks younger with white hair than she did as a brunette. Makes me think she should have gone blonde years ago.

Frances played the wife in the pilot but, according to Richard Karn, it was a boring dynamic. Once they brought Pat in, they got something different… a wife who stood up for herself.
