I Think I Am Done With Amazon
A combo vent/rant. Once again, Amazon has fubared another order of mine. I placed a sizable order containing 3 items on the 12th. The 2 least expensive items were delivered by USPS last Sunday. The most expensive item showed that it wouldn't be delivered until today. As of last night there was no shipping information/tracking number. As of 9:30 this morning still the same, still supposed to arrive by 10pm tonight. Then I sent a request to Amazon for a call back and of course the call came from some hell hole country with CS reps who couldn't speak intelligible English. And to top it all off while talking to the first CS agent (a female) I could hear a chicken crowing in the background, and then a man and what sounded like a child fighting in the same room like two wild animals. Clearly Amazon is farming their CS out to people who work out of their homes now. I asked to speak to someone higher up and she transferred me to some man who was in a quiet environment. After being on hold for almost 10 minutes he came back and said he could find no information about the items and neither could the Amazon DC it was to be shipped from, so the only thing he could do was to cancel the item.
It's just not worth it anymore. I'll return to doing all my shopping at retail stores and pay more just for the piece of mind that I know I have what I want, when I want it.
Jeff Bezos should get cancer. I HOPE HE GETS CANCER! LOL
Okay, rant over. I feel better now.

You’re ridiculous op. This kind of issue could happen to ANY retailer with an online store. Times have changed for the worse. Customer service is not a priority to any company in 2024. You got the dose of reality every other person has likely gotten. Oh, btw…. This issue doesn’t happen every time you place an online order. I have to tell you that because you act like it’s your first time shopping online.

OP? Something I ordered -- a motorcycle patch that comes in an envelope -- has been lost in the mail.
It's not just Amazon.

I’d wager ten bucks that the next thread from OP will be about being done with big box retailers.
The story will be that he checked online to ensure what ever junk he wanted was in stock only to make a drive across town and find it wasn’t there! Hijinks will ensue of speaking to managers, calling customer service lines when told to go home.

I live in the boonies and am glad to get stuff delivered. I don't expect overnight delivery. I also don't expect delivery as "promised."
I have never depended on Amazon for everything. I try to buy things from other online sources.

I remember the days when you could actually count on Amazon to fulfill their orders will practically no errors. And getting in touch with a human being in the USA was as easy as calling their customers service number, and you received excellent service. All that has gone to hell.

I'm sorry you experienced challenges with you last order. Know that Amazon values you as a customer and they are dedicated in providing the best service possible. Please don't give up on them.
Also, I have stock in Amazon....shop away people!

Amazon chat did not fix my problem last night, r2. I could not activate a gift card because it didn’t have a number and letter code. None of the preselected problems fit my complaint, and I had to talk to someone again. And the issue is still not solved.

Amazon has been going downhill for the past two years or so. Yes, shit can happen with anything you buy online but Amazon has always set a very high standard and, lately, they've been slipping. We don't expect shitty service from Amazon so many of us are disappointed when we do.

Op is likely a very frustrated individual looking for an outlet to take it out on. Today, it is Amazon. Tomorrow? Who knows. He creates extra hardship for himself by clinging to ideals of times gone by in an ever changing world.

Amazon now charges a restocking fee (sometimes). I posted this in another thread and got accused of being some shopaholic frau, returning things left and right.
The UPS Store returns ... I had to call, months later to ask where was my refund. Amazon had acknowledged receipt of the item months prior.
Anyway, I had concerns about Amazon even before that. E.g., authenticity (counterfeits) and expiration dates.

Three items is a sizable order? I live a few hours from a fulfillment center. Sometimes there’s no information until mid-late morning the day it goes out.

I recently received a book from Amazon that was in bad condition. BUT…it’s amazing to me how rarely this happens. I know they’re the bad guys, and we should hate them, but I think their service is pretty terrific.

The "sizable" about the order was the dollar value. The item that they screwed up was $345.00. The other two items were $60.00 & $42.00.

Amazon is not perfect, but there is no better mass retailer/customer service. If there's a problem, they fix it right away. Sometimes, when I buy stuff I want to return, they refund my money and tell me to keep it. I love Amazon, now and forever! In fact, I think I'm going to go buy some useless crap from them right now, just to show them how much I love them.

the one I cant stand is Barnes & Noble; apparently, they were renewing my annual fee every year for years. I didn't know it was getting renewed; they couldn't tell me which card was being charged. They wouldn't provide a copy of the agreement I signed; they couldn't answer anything really but they knew I signed it or clicked okay.
I fucking hate them; the rep talked. She was done and then when I started to talk she started talking over and said if I was going to interrupt her she'd cancel the call. That's such a clever marketing tool.
There were no emails about renewing the membership; I got fucked. Sure, my fault in the end but now I'm much more firm everywhere; No. I don't want to sign up for this. No cancel this. No. I don't want that. Fuck them all.
BN will never get my business. It was a crappy discount and books on amazon are 30 to 40% off.

I find Amazon to be the most consistently reliable ecomm site around, from item description to delivery times to their return process. The only time things tend to get squirly, and not often at that, is via third party sellers.
This doesn't sound like a common mistake. I've never encountered it and I shop there very frequently. If you cut them off you're only depriving yourself of the convenience and lower pricing that Amazon affords is unwashed masses. And I'm just to busy and to tired to go anywhere else. It's just not convenient to my busy lifestyle anymore to visit brick & mortars.

I stopped paying for Prime a few months ago. You can still get free delivery if you order $30 worth of stuff so I wait until I have $30 of stuff and order it.
I'm annoyed with Amazon though because I did a Subscribe and Save on an item and every other month it's out of stock. Makes zero sense because they should be able to tell how many people have S&S and have enough on hand to fulfill those. Seems like it would be an easy fix.

I tried doing that r35 but I found that they deprioritizes my orders over prime members. I had to wait weeks in some cases for some items that would have come with next day shipping had I been a prime member. That's not tenable. Consequently they pulled me back in.

At lunch today I received an Amazon package of 5 reams of paper in a box inside another box. The inside box was slightly smaller so they put in the equivalent of 8.5x11 sheet of brown paper packaging – apparently to cushion the 5 reams of paper inside the outside box?! I just burst out laughing, it was so stupid.

I only order from Amazon if I cannot find the product anywhere else. I've been burned too many times by knockoffs and fakes and things that either don't work at all or don't work as promised, especially in electronics. Plus I don't feel like helping Bezos buy another megayacht.

Me too. Most things I can find somewhere else, for a moderate price difference.
I've ordered things I can't find elsewhere - outdoor stuff, pool stuff, a gluten free mousse mix I like, and a few filters for our coffee machine and fridge. Beyond that, I get most stuff at Target or similar.

I bought my EZ blackout window stuff straight from the seller. Amazon sells it, too, but I always check the seller’s website.
Anyway, the EZ blackout guy charged the same price and was easy to deal with. I’d rather have small businesses make a profit rather than pay a commission to Amazon.

The third party vendors on Amazon can have very inaccurate descriptions. So I avoid them.
My biggest gripe with online vendors is inaccurate tracking. sometimes I’ll get a notification that an item has been delivered and it wasn’t and then I don’t know if I should follow up or just wait. I don’t like to just ignore it because I’m concerned I might forget about it entirely until it’s too late to follow up. That’s not just to Amazon, but they do it a lot.
But where else am I going to shop? They have everything. Also, they are pretty good about refunding if a product doesn’t show up or is defective.

I'm not one to gossip but I was just in the Caribbean cruising on a large Catamaran. We saw his yacht and another smaller super yacht parked next to his. My captain told me Jeff recently got a new girlfriend. She's a helicopter pilot so he bought her a super yacht too. Hers had a helipad which was missing on his. I'm sure he thanks you for your contribution and hopes you will stay if he gets the chicken silenced.

Prime was and is terribly overpriced for the benefits. I dropped it when they raised it from $139 to.....whatever it is now. And once the pandemic was settled enough I didn't need to use it so often.
Prime Video is the weakest of many, many choices. I don't need next day shipping on anything. The only thing I sort of missed was getting deliveries from Whole Foods, but I switched over to Sprouts and like it better, anyway.
So get fucked, Bezos.

This may surprise you, or maybe not. A few years back an old friend of mine who is a stroke survivor called and asked me to order something for her from Amazon. I singed onto her account, found the item and placed the order. Later on during the conversation I had changed over to my account and she asked me a question about the item and I looked it up again. The first thing I noticed was that the price for the same item on my account was considerably cheaper than it was on her account. I called Amazon and talked to a lady who told me that the pricing you get is based partially on the number of orders you place with Amazon. My friend did not order nearly as much as I did so they screwed her over, or tried to. I simply went back to her account, cancelled the order and reordered it on my account and had it shipped to her. I also added her credit card to my account so she wouldn't have to mail me a check for the item.
