IIRC, the DLer knew the person she stiffed. It had to do with painting, either a portrait painting or actual house painting. First she denied she owed the person and then when she was pursued for the balance owed, she tried to give the person a paltry grocery store gift card of barely $100 when she owed about $1,000.

For what it is worth Shaun Cassidy is extremely democratic. I think Shirley like a lot of women of her time weren’t so political but were heavily influenced by their accountants and the older men in their lives. Marty ingles booked a lot of people back then.
