Not that it would shock me, but doesn't the profile name look a bit too easy? The profile was only used for a few hours after it was created. And the user name feels almost bot like. If I was Moreno, I'd probably come up with a better user name, especially if I was deeply closeted. I may buy into the prank theory.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | March 15, 2024 1:01 PM |
During a 2016 question and answer session posted to his company’s YouTube page, Moreno noted that his eldest son is gay, while crediting the TV show “Modern Family” with changing perceptions about same-sex marriage.
“We watched these two guys and, we say: ’You know what? They’re good guys, they’re great people. ... They are not this distorted thing that is out there.’ And I think those are the kinds of ways that you can break down stereotypes,” Moreno said during the event.

Moreno as the nominee will be a godsend to Senator Brown and the Democrats.
Dolan had an endless stream of cash, whereas Bernie is one of those Florida-Rich douchebags who drives a Bentley but sees his card declined at Taco Bell. He’s broke AND full of shit. He’s like a gayer version of George Santos. And now his party will have to sink millions into his campaign, which is sure to include invoices for fur coats, rentboys, and shopping sprees at Cleveland’s version of Ferragamo.

Do you mean like how J.D. Vance as the nominee was a godsend to Tim Ryan and the Democrats? Keep in mind that Trump is currently 10 points ahead of Biden in Ohio.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | March 20, 2024 6:06 AM |
From CNN. Trump got twice as many votes than Biden. Ohio is MAGA country and that ain't gonna be great for Sherrod Brown in the general election.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | March 20, 2024 6:23 AM |
From CNN. Dean Phillips got almost 68,000 votes. Biden isn't going to win Ohio. It's just not possible.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | March 20, 2024 6:25 AM |
These are the Senate Numbers.....Moreno 25,000 more votes over Sherrod Brown. And Morenos numbers are after the "guys" story and after he was trashed nonstop in commercials by LaRose and Dolan.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | March 20, 2024 6:33 AM |
Maggot Moreno is a staunch pro-lifer, vs Sherrod Brown who is pro-choice. If Ohioan women know what’s best for them with respect to abortion rights, they’ll vote Blue. Abortion is going to be a huge driver in this election. Brown needs to drive this message home from now until November.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | March 20, 2024 7:12 AM |
Let’s not get too excited.
Plenty of us Dems did some rat fucking today, taking the Rethug ballot just to fuck with people.
Those Haley voters will vote for Sherrod Brown.
Moreno is a fool. Comparing this to that tub of lard Vance is a different game. That was an open seat. Brown is a well known incumbent.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | March 20, 2024 7:46 AM |
R63 And 68,000 protest votes went to Dean Phillips. This isn't going to be a cakewalk for Sherrod Brown. I am not trying to be doom and gloom but they said J.D. Vance was going to lose. He didn't. They said Tim Ryan couldn't lose. He did. Wake up. This seat is going to be hard to keep.

Bernie Moreno is a fucking CAR SALESMAN from fucking FLORIDA.

I'm glad he is the nominee. Sherrod Brown needs to keep his seat. Get ready because unless we can actually flip at least two or three seats we are going to lose the Senate. The Republican Nominee from Maryland will win, and we will definitely lose Manchin's seat.

by Anonymous | reply 90 | March 20, 2024 10:28 PM |
If we lose maryland and West Virginia, we lose the Senate assuming we hang on to everything else.As a former governor, Hogan has run a statewide race. He has name recognition and crossover appeal in the sense that independents will consider him. If Maryland voters elected him to the Governor's office it is not beyond reason t hat he is a formidable candidate to challenge the Dems.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | March 21, 2024 12:18 AM |
R91 Hogan's first poll is coasting on name recognition. Marylanders were happy to elect him governor, because they knew the legislature would keep him tightly in check. But as a senator working on national issues, he'll have to take some unpopular stands on issues that upset and motivate suburban voters (the bulk of the Maryland electorate).
Ask Larry about abortion.
Ask Larry about guns.
Ask Larry about tax cuts for the 1%.
He's still a Republican, through and through. And will be a rock-steady vote for the Thune/Cornyn/Trump agenda. Fuck him AND his teeny Asian wife.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | March 21, 2024 12:28 AM |
R92 I hope the Dems will do as you suggest. I just don't want us to take anything for granted. We're going to have to fight like hell to make any gains in Congress. We can do it. It's not impossible, but we have to be smart.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | March 21, 2024 1:14 AM |
R91, it’s not that rare for blue/red states to elect republican/ democratic governors, but it’s most rare for blue/red states to elect republican/democratic senators. The same poll showing Hogan with a double-digit lead also showed that most Maryland democrats wanted a Democratic-controlled Senate. I fully suspect that this is the high-water mark for the Hogan campaign.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | March 21, 2024 1:24 AM |
If someone says that blue Maryland won’t elect a GOP senator, then how can they turn around and say that red Ohio will vote for Brown?
by Anonymous | reply 95 | March 21, 2024 4:47 AM |
R94 makes a good point. Recent trends show that there is very little ticket splitting anymore when it comes to Senate races. In the last 2 Presidential elections (2016 & 2020), almost every state has voted the same way for Senate as it does for President. As Ron Brownstein has pointed out, only Susan Collins in Maine has been able to defy this recent trend.
This means that Brown in Ohio and Tester in Montana will face a tough challenge because those states are going to vote for Trump. Likewise, Hogan may have a tough fight to win the Senate race in Maryland, even though he was able to win as Governor because Biden is going to carry the state. And Garvey in California faces long odds of becoming a Republican Senator since CA will be voting for Biden by a large margin.
by Anonymous | reply 96 | March 21, 2024 7:59 AM |
He's a junior Vance.
[quote]The U.S. Senate campaign of Republican Bernie Moreno took to X last week to claim that because of the current administration’s policies, migrants have “destroyed” Ohio communities.
[quote]But what made the post especially head-scratching is the fact that Moreno is himself a migrant, being born in Colombia in 1967. His family migrated to Florida in 1971. Moreno last year said, “We came here with absolutely nothing — we came here legally — but we came here, nine of us in a two-bedroom apartment.” It was part of the image he’s tried to cultivate of an immigrant who came to the United States the “right” way as opposed to impoverished Colombians who’ve survived the trek through the Darien Gap, made their way the U.S.-Mexico border and entered without documents.
[quote]However, Moreno’s depiction of his family as a poor one is misleading. In Columbia, his people were wealthy and politically connected, and while the family lived in straitened circumstances the first years they were in the states, things quickly got better. His father, Bernardo Moreno Sr., was a surgeon who was educated at the University of Pennsylvania and later served as the Colombian equivalent of the secretary of health, the New York Times reported. He initially worked at low pay in Florida as a surgical assistant, but by 1973, he had full privileges as a surgeon. In addition, one of Bernie Moreno’s brothers served as the Colombian ambassador to the United States and another founded a multinational construction empire.
