Fran has always been a huge Barbara fan, I remember her show the Nanny where her dream was meeting her.

The dry hair and tinted glasses make her look trashy. I guess she's in a position not to care anymore, but it's wholly unflattering.

With all her $$ she looks like that. Her hair is more dried out that a skater kid's in 2009 using a flat iron.

Fran is a national treasure and I will cut any bitch who suggests otherwise. I know multiple people who have worked with her and described her as one of the warmest, sweetest, most gracious human beings they've ever met.

Barbra admits to never seeing The Nanny. There's a very good reason for that - LAINIE KAZAN IS IN IT!

Peter and Fran tried tirelessly to get Streisand to make a guest appearance during the show's run but she refused everytime, always for predictably precious, snobby reasons. You'd think that might have soured Fran's IRL worship of her, but she never once took it personally. She really and truly is one of Barbra's most diehard fans.

Interesting, in the early 1970s through the 80s, I never observed New York Jewish (or Italian for the matter) girls being interested in Streisand let alone “idolizing” her. Her music didn’t appeal to them, and her movies not so much either. She was considered their parents generation- I asked.

I love Barbra but she has got to perk up a bit and do something about that goddamn hair!

This is super-picky I know, but I was disappointed that Barbra never acknowledged Ida Lupino in her book as a pioneering director in the 1950s. .

Fran Drescher really tried in that interview. It seems Barbra is not used to having a two-way conversation. One where the conversation could possibly veer into other talking points - versus talking about her.

Barbra says she has never seen The Nanny and asks Fran to send her some tapes. But I don't think she will like them. Fran may talk about how The Nanny was a great fan of Barbra but inevitably she did an impersonation with crossed eyes.

And I get it. She was being interviewed… so it’s about her. But there are a few times she could’ve talked about something new or different or current - even as it might relate to her. And she just did not.

Who was the male co-star who refused to show his bad side to look at the plant?

I agree, R34. Barbra seemed annoyed. Fran was a bit all over the place. It was a little uncomfortable watching it, tension and maybe some low level hostility or something.

Lainie's a lot funner.

It's fascinating how Barbra filmed Lauren Bacall's best scenes in Mirror without her knowing it. You could tell that Barbra was unhappy with Lauren's acting, so she had to come up with a way to get the performance out of her that she wanted. Lauren never would have gotten that Oscar nomination without Barbra's quick thinking.

They should have asked Lainie what WOMEN she has dated.

R51. It wasn't really quick thinking. She planned it, filming it when she knew Lauren would be tired, she had the crew in on the little ploy, they did as instructed, they kept filming after Barbra told them to stop, fooling Lauren. I found it manipulative and dishonest. When I saw the movie, I thought that particular scene seemed very fake and overacted.

Directors will film the rehearsal, or film the actors when they aren't aware of it. Barbara didn't invent it.

Why are they sitting so close to each other? That made me very uncomfortable.

I think it's in Europe.

They don't know or care about personal space over there.

That's not what Barbra said. She only decided to film Lauren's scene once she got to her apartment and liked the way that Lauren looked and felt. It wasn't planned ahead of time.

Lauren wasn't Barbra's first, or second, choice to play her mother. She wanted Liz Taylor, and then Lana Turner, but they were both in poor health and weren't up to the task. She made the mistake of hiring Dudley Moore, who she had to fire because of his poor health.

Actually, R59, I combined two different situations. It's on page 854. Barbra got a line she wanted by telling the camera man to not stop filming after she told him too so Lauren didn't think she was being filmed. The other situation was at the end of the next day of filming. Lauren was tired and was supposed to do the confession seen the next day. In the movie she had been up all night. Barbra asked Lauren to film it while she was tired and, admittedly, unprepared.

Babs went to the Dakota with a film crew? Did Betty serve High Point and Fancy Feast on crackers?

Doesn’t everyone anyone know that Babs and everyone else on planet Earth called “Lauren,” Betty?

People are just now finding out that Lauren's big scene in Mirror was actually filmed in her apartment at the Dakota. It's probably the only movie that's ever been filmed there.

I finally listened to this interview. Fran was great. She said something about SAG and that she's the president. Barbra then said: "And I voted for you." Fran said thanks.

Fran looked beautiful. Babs, I'd like to get my hands on her as a stylist.
