So who IS the Hollywood star who berated Rebecca Ferguson?

Tom Cruise, The Rock, Hugh Jackman and Emily Blunt have been ruled out - leaving her other co-stars in doubt

Dune star Rebecca Ferguson has sparked intense speculation after she revealed that an unnamed 'idiot' film co-star 'screamed' at her and left her walking off set crying.

Ferguson, 40, confirmed it was not Hugh Jackman or Tom Cruise, who she acted alongside in The Greatest Showman and Mission Impossible when she appeared on Tuesday's episode of the Reign with Josh Smith podcast.

Ferguson - who has starred alongside A-listers including Michael Fassbender, Meryl Streep, Ewan McGregor, Hugh Grant and Chris Hemsworth - said because the person was 'number one on the call sheet' she was unable to defend herself.

So who IS the Hollywood star that berated Rebecca Ferguson? Tom Cruise, The Rock, Hugh Jackman and Emily Blunt have been ruled out - leaving her other co-stars in doubt

Her Hercules co-star Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, 52, has also come out in support of the star, denying it was him who had shouted, writing on X: 'Hate seeing this but love seeing her stand up to bulls**t.

Emily Blunt also exclusively confirmed that she was not the co-star, with the star's spokesman saying: 'Rebecca and Emily are friends and there’s nothing but love between them.'

'Rebecca was my guardian angel sent from heaven on our set. I love that woman. I’d like to find out who did this.'

Hahahaha that candy ass is less supporting her and more letting us know it wasn’t him.

by Anonymousreply 11February 29, 2024 3:59 AM

It's been narrowed down to Fassbender or Hugh Grant.

Grant has a notorious reputation for throwing tantrums and being nasty to women. But was he number one on the call sheet for Florence Foster Jenkins? Wouldn't that have been Meryl?

Fassbender beat up his girlfriend and put her in the hospital. The movie he was in with Ferguson was a big bomb and got bad reviews.

by Anonymousreply 12February 29, 2024 4:00 AM

Why is everyone saying she should keep her mouth shut?

by Anonymousreply 13February 29, 2024 4:00 AM

Her character on “Silo” was incredibly annoying.

Then again, so were the young protagonists of the recent Apple TV show, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.”

It might be that sci fi shows have just decided to embrace the obnoxiousness of their young audience.

by Anonymousreply 14February 29, 2024 4:00 AM

The reason I am confident it is Fassbender

The behavior reminded me very much of anecdotes about two people from old Hollywood

Those were Peter Sellers and David Lean. One was how Peter Sellers treated Jo van Fleet and the other was how Lean treated Judy Davis.

What did those two very different Brits have in common? They most likely had Aspergers Syndrome.

So I looked for the potential Aspie. Tom Cruise obviously, but she already said it wasn’t him. So that left Fassbender.

I started googling to see if there were any reports of his behavior and look at this

Cited by none other than Tom Hardy. Tom Hardy is almost certainly neurodivergent and has a terrible reputation for being difficult and neurotic behavior (google the stories by Patrick Stewart and the feud with Charlize Theron).

If Tom Hardy thinks you are strange, then you are STRAAAAAANGE.

Michael Fassbender.

by Anonymousreply 22February 29, 2024 4:52 AM

R22 you silly stupid fool

Do you know what “number one on the call sheet” means?

It is the star of the movie. The most important person.

Hugh Grant wasn’t the star of Florence Foster Jenkins. It was Meryl Streep.

It’s Michael Fassbender. He would have been number one on The Snowman.

by Anonymousreply 23February 29, 2024 5:33 AM

Number One on the call sheet of Girl on the Train is Emily Blunt.

Think, McFly, think.

by Anonymousreply 24February 29, 2024 5:34 AM

Timothée Chalamet, Tom Cruise, Timothée Chalamet, Hugh Jackman, Ewan McGregor, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Cruise, Michael Fassbender, Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds, Emily Blunt, Meryl Streep, Tom Cruise, and Dwayne Johnson.

This is every number one call sheet celebrity that she would have worked with in her Hollywood career.
R12 Grant has a notorious reputation for throwing tantrums and being nasty to women. But was he number one on the call sheet for Florence Foster Jenkins? Wouldn't that have been Meryl?

If a cast member isn’t in a scene, I don’t think they’re on the call sheet at all for that day. So if the actress is referring to scenes she shot only with Grant, then he would have been bumped up to No. 1 on the call sheet on those days.

(Frankly I don’t remember who she had scenes with in that film.)

by Anonymousreply 31February 29, 2024 7:15 AM

This is the kind of gossip I love so bring it on Becky.

by Anonymousreply 32February 29, 2024 8:22 AM

Meryl is gong to get dragged into this if it's Hugh Grant. I can't imagine Meryl allowing this sort of behavior on one of her films. Rebecca surely would have gone to her for help.

by Anonymousreply 36February 29, 2024 5:04 PM

Rebecca Ferguson didn't have any scenes with Meryl. She played Hugh's mistress and only had scenes with Hugh, who was number 1 on the call sheet for all their scenes.

He has a dreadful reputation - I can imagine him claiming he said it in jest - but Fassbender fits the bill as well.

by Anonymousreply 38February 29, 2024 5:14 PM

FOR FUCKS SAKE

JESUS

It has nothing to do with the day’s shoot!

When films are prepared for shooting, all the actors are assigned a number. 1 is the star. It does not matter if he is not filming that day. The number stays the same throughout the production. Otherwise, it would be like a football or basketball team switching numbers every time someone is benched. Meryl Streep is 1 every day of Florence Foster Jenkins.

Florence Foster Jenkins was a Meryl Streep film. Hugh Grant is not a popular famous actor who draws people.

Hugh Grant has stated in interviews that he throws at least one tantrum a year on set. He's a notorious asshole. His interview with Ashley Graham at the Oscars last year displayed the EXACT behavior that Rebeccas was talking about. He even sabotaged the Wonka publicity tour by saying that he only did it for the money.

R80 is one of those stupid “G” posts right?

by Anonymousreply 83March 1, 2024 4:10 AM

And for those committed to Hugh Grant because they still crave Fassbender’s shame cock

Hugh Grant was EXCELLENT in Florence Foster Jenkins. He was robbed of an Oscar nomination, he may have even won (who was the winner that year?). The person she talks about is struggling with their performance.

Also, Florence Foster Jenkins was directed by Stephan Frears. Frears is enormously respected over forty years and has directed Oscar nominated performances from Glenn Close, Michelle Pfeiffer, Annette Bening, Angelica Huston, Judi Dench (twice), and Meryl Streep and won the Oscar for Helen Mirren. He has also worked with difficult actors including Daniel Day Lewis, John Malkovich (twice), John Cusack (twice) and Julia Roberts during her “coked out mess” period. It would be unlikely he’d allow an actress to be bullied on his film set in front of everyone. Additionally, he worked with Hugh Grant right after this on A Very English Scandal, where Grant was also excellent. He probably wouldn’t have done that if Grant behaved so badly to an actress. He likes actresses. He’s what was once called a “woman’s director” (coined for George Cukor.)

True. It's unheard of that a director/producer will tolerate appalling behaviour from a star if he's getting a decent performance from them.

by Anonymousreply 88March 1, 2024 6:58 AM

R88 The star of Florence Foster Jenkins was not Hugh Grant. It was Meryl Streep.

You are absolutely convinced Hugh Grant is important, aren’t you? You think it’s still 1996?

I bet you think Jeff Daniels called the shots on the set of Terms of Endearment (very difficult set).

You think that it is more likely that Hugh Grant, who is essentially a character actor now, was able to terrorize an actress on the set of a Meryl Streep movie directed by a man known for his work with actresses, in front of the cast and crew, and not be talked to/told to stop;

Than Michael Fassbender, who was the sole above title billed actor The Snowman, and who has been accused of [bold]beating his girlfriend on multiple occasions[/bold]

by Anonymousreply 93March 1, 2024 9:26 AM

Because my dear Hollywood will almost always only dispose of somebody only when they no longer make money or win awards. Harvey Weinstein was not expendable until he started producing bombs like Tulip Fever. Woody Allen was only cold shouldered when it was obvious he wasn’t capable of making a good movie again.

Ferguson is merely taking advantage of the rules and kicking Fassbender when he is down, following two consecutive flops in one year.

No Henry is rumored to be gay because there is a lot of evidence. The obtuse comments about women are also similar to the kind of casual misogyny that’s acceptable among gay men.

Grace Randolph is reporting it, however, because women find it personally offensive when an attractive man might be gay, “What a waste” “what a shame” being comments typically posted by them when a male star comes out. Even Shawn Mendes is scared to come out and he no longer has a career.

Hugh Grant has a reputation for being horrible to women. He also has a reputation for being excellent at playing smarmy repulsive men.

And I think it’s highly possible that Stephen Frears tolerated bullying behaviour from an established star towards a then relatively unknown actor.

That said it could easily be Fassbender.

You also have to factor in which person has a history of acting up in a professional setting, like Christian Bale did (and he never worked with Rebecca, so he's blameless here.)

In 2012, Jon Stewart banned (for a time) Hugh Grant from ever appearing on The Daily Show, calling him the worst guest of all time for the way he treated the back stage staff. Stewart noted "and we've had dictators on the show!"

Since then, has Hugh changed for the better? Old dog, so no new tricks. From BuzzFeed news: " Hugh said that he had to do 'a lot of groveling' when he kicked off the very first day on the set of his new film, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves," and that was filmed around 2021. He screamed at a woman he thought was an executive from the studio when she was just a local woman who was a chaperone of one if the child actors. Hugh said he "did a Christian Bale" on her.

Even so, it's not conclusive that Rebecca was actually talking about Hugh Grant. We're just presenting more evidence of Grant's bad behavior in a professional setting to the jury.

I don't care how inane her questions were Hugh Grants treatment of Ashley Graham at the Oscar's last year was unprofessional and ugly. he's been in the business for decades and he knows well the kind of questions he can expect in that format. If he finds such questions tedious, don't agree to be interviewed or skip the red carpet entirely.

The fact that he didn't do either of the two tells me that He definitely gets off on humiliating people and possibly, specifically women.

He enjoyed belittling her on live tv and I'm sure would do even worse in a private situation if he thought he could get away with it

by Anonymousreply 107March 1, 2024 4:38 PM

The other aspect of Hugh Grant's personality is that he can lash out and be a vile bully to someone and then pull back and act like it was a big joke. That's part of his schtick.

by Anonymousreply 108March 1, 2024 4:44 PM

R108 It’s called sociopathy.

by Anonymousreply 109March 1, 2024 5:04 PM

I'm pretty sure it's Grant. Call sheets often divide between the male performers and the female performers, so he would have been top of the men's list.

by Anonymousreply 110March 1, 2024 5:33 PM

But Hugh Grant was just in a hit film, Wonka. He is still considered an asset. Michael Fassbender had two bombs. He would be thrown to the wolves with little resistance.

by Anonymousreply 111March 1, 2024 5:54 PM

Hugh Grant had a tiny role in Wonka which was filmed with special effects - he didn't interact with any of the actors.

And he's complained about the role, like he does a lot of his roles.

I love the folks here implying Ferguson checked Fassbender's box office before deciding to speak on this.

by Anonymousreply 113March 1, 2024 6:09 PM

R113 did you see LA Story?

The maitre d’s at tony restaurants checked box office before deciding where the stars could sit.

A joke, but that is how the industry is.

by Anonymousreply 114March 1, 2024 6:14 PM
For the record, according to King, Grant was cast in the Wonka film because of his wicked sense of humor. In Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the Oompa Loompas are “incredibly sarcastic and judgmental and cruel.”

That little Oompa Loompa was me.

So it's down to super craggy and lined Hughie who is no longer a loveable scamp with a mop of hair, but actually turned out to be a pretty good actor and still has star power; or Fassbender who's getting craggier and not well liked? I'm willing to bet it's Fassbender - he seems like he plays a sociopath a little too well.

by Anonymousreply 116March 1, 2024 6:47 PM

I wouldn't be shocked if it were Fassbender, but I immediately thought "Hugh Grant" upon reading her account before knowing who any of her former costars are. It just fits him to a tee.
Hugh Grant says he threw 'a couple of tantrums' and lashed out at a woman on set while filming 'Dungeons & Dragons' Hugh Grant discussed his upcoming film, "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves," with Total Film magazine.

Clearly the woman in question was not Michelle Rodriguez, as I've not seen news about him being hospitalized or slain after a high speed hit-and-run accident.

by Anonymousreply 117March 1, 2024 8:56 PM

I'm going to say Hugh, just to piss of that frau poster who gets terribly upset whenever someone suggests it's anyone but Fassbender

by Anonymousreply 118March 1, 2024 9:47 PM

I think she'll tell us his name when the story starts to fade from the news cycle. I believe it happened but I also think she's milking it for attention.

by Anonymousreply 119March 1, 2024 10:06 PM
I love the folks here implying Ferguson checked Fassbender's box

Who hasn't?

by Anonymousreply 120March 1, 2024 10:11 PM

Y'all are fixated ,but I'm tellin you, it's Justin Theroux.

by Anonymousreply 121March 1, 2024 11:18 PM

r121 Problem with him as a theory is judging by the cast listing, he'd be below Ferguson on the call sheet, and therefore the pecking order

by Anonymousreply 122March 1, 2024 11:31 PM

I think it's Grant only because he's admitted to be cranky/prickly/kind of an asshole. Fassbender doesn't go around talking about himself like that, even if he does come off as weird or angry.

R119 People on social media and threads like this are the ones milking it.

by Anonymousreply 124March 2, 2024 12:28 AM

What position was Theroux on the call sheet for Girl On The Train? Because he played a key role in that movie. In fact he was the male lead. I was too focused on Edgar Ramirez and Luke Evans but Justin was the main protagonist. I think Rebecca Ferguson used that term about his place on the call sheet to indicate this was not some nobody, but someone who was a key player. I would not discount Hugh Grant. I can definitely see him being an ass. But I still want to put Theroux on that list.
R119 I believe it happened but I also think she's milking it for attention.

How is she doing that? It’s not like she’s doing daily updates. It was one interview.

by Anonymousreply 126March 2, 2024 7:49 AM

More to the point: who the fuck is Rebecca Ferguson?
