Ina Garten to release memoirs

It sounds like a major point in the book will be her childhood and how it influenced her decision to remain childless. She said looking back on her own childhood, it was nothing she wanted to recreate.

She was probably childless because she was barren.

À la recherche du temps perdu qui sent de la Végétaline

by Anonymousreply 3February 23, 2024 2:40 AM

Truly gripping!

by Anonymousreply 4February 23, 2024 2:41 AM

Maybe in 2014.

by Anonymousreply 5February 23, 2024 2:48 AM

She only ever has negative things to say about how her mother cooked and ran a household.

by Anonymousreply 6February 23, 2024 2:49 AM

[quote] Truly ripping!

FTFY

by Anonymousreply 7February 23, 2024 2:49 AM

I hope she goes into explicit detail about Jeffrey's massive dick and how good it feels when he bends her over the kitchen island and fucks the heavy cream out of her!

by Anonymousreply 8February 23, 2024 2:52 AM

I was watching her on YT and then out of the blue, she said her mother used to make this particular dish and it was so terrible she never wanted to have it again. It was just such a weird, yet revealing moment for a woman who has crafted this controlled image.

She also said as much as she disliked her mother, she was always close to her father. Her mom sounded like an early, white Tiger Mom in that she was so demanding that Ina excel academically.

by Anonymousreply 9February 23, 2024 2:59 AM

She and Jeffrey are major swingers, Jeffrey is definitely unhinged sexually. I think it was Emily Blunt who visited her house in the Hamptons and said she couldn't say no, felt pressure to accept their invite to stay the night after filming, so she and husband John did so, but there was a sinister vibe to the whole conversation.

by Anonymousreply 10February 23, 2024 3:02 AM

Ina and Jeffrey are both in their mid 70s. I think they'd get fatigued watching someone get undressed.

by Anonymousreply 11February 23, 2024 3:06 AM

She’s smart and successful, but that kind of success necessitates careful control over your privacy. I imagine a certain amount of pressure to support and advance the work of others (book blurbs, etc.). Her lifestyle, with that beautiful house and those perfect gardens, and the proximity to the sea, is special. It’s one to envy. I would be a little afraid of that kind of fame.

by Anonymousreply 12February 23, 2024 3:10 AM

R10 Is that true? Wow, that’s a little freaky. I can’t picture it. Ina and Jeffrey are so tiny and childlike. They remind me of Christmas Ornaments.

by Anonymousreply 13February 23, 2024 3:14 AM

Only the really GOOD memories

by Anonymousreply 14February 23, 2024 3:18 AM

R13 Ina ain’t tiny.

I hope she addresses the TR scandal. She dumped him after he resisted her sexual advances.

Memoirs aren’t the only thing she’s gonna release. 💨 💨 💨

by Anonymousreply 18February 23, 2024 3:30 AM

I wonder if she'll address her abrupt departure from government life after being caught in flagranti with elderly Anais Nin in her White House office.

by Anonymousreply 19February 23, 2024 3:36 AM

I feel like she's a huge cunt IRL

Hey, I’ll fly my freak flag but watching snake-eyed Emily Bluny and her ugly gnome husband fuck is a bridge too far even for me.

by Anonymousreply 28February 23, 2024 2:29 PM

R28- Her husband looks like a HOMO

by Anonymousreply 29February 23, 2024 3:18 PM

I hope she reads the audio version.

by Anonymousreply 30February 23, 2024 3:46 PM

We’ll find out that Jeffrey is not really her husband.

SURPRISE!!

by Anonymousreply 31February 23, 2024 3:47 PM

If you can’t get the good memories, ordinary and potentially traumatic memories are fine.

by Anonymousreply 32February 23, 2024 3:48 PM

She will never live down being mean to that child, it will dog her until her last breath, punishment is good.

by Anonymousreply 33February 23, 2024 4:00 PM

You know Ina pegs Jeffrey with a GOOD strap-on.

by Anonymousreply 34February 24, 2024 1:11 PM

I bet Ina was a difficult child and all the stuff she says about her mother is exaggerated.

by Anonymousreply 35February 24, 2024 1:31 PM

I think she's interesting: she's got such a carefully crafted image in which as someone noted on a previous thread, she's like your favorite, pretension aunt (the one that buys you those expensive scarfs), but there's more to her than her high end yenta act would indicate. I didn't know she was abused, but that she had a controlling, withholding mother isn't surprising given her love of comfort food. I do think she & Jeffrey have an open marriage - he does his thing & he does hers, and while they're good friends, their marriage is a kind of business at this point. But nothing wrong with that & who cares if she doesn't have kids. Martha has a daughter & she's apparently a horror show of a person. I'm guessing she (probably rightly) recognized she was too controlling to be parent to another individual.

by Anonymousreply 36September 3, 2024 4:16 PM

I wonder if the whiny, sneaky bitch is going to post all about me.

by Anonymousreply 37September 3, 2024 4:18 PM

"But nothing wrong with that & who cares if she doesn't have kids."

I do. She's another one who is as useless as tits on a bull.

by Anonymousreply 38September 3, 2024 4:25 PM

I love her.

by Anonymousreply 39September 3, 2024 4:27 PM

I love her show because she ALWAYS features a cocktail of some sort. Hers is about the only show that does that. The old Julia Child shows are the only ones I can think of that suggest wine pairings, which is very helpful.

by Anonymousreply 40September 3, 2024 4:34 PM

The New Yorker on Ina. This is perhaps the best article I've ever read on her. Touches on her past friendship with Martha Stewart and also her physically abusive father and cold mother.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 41September 3, 2024 5:38 PM

^Good article; I believe she ghosted Martha after she got sent up the river, on the other hand, I have a hard time believing that Martha is the kind of person that has any real friends.

by Anonymousreply 42September 3, 2024 5:56 PM

R42, I think the reverse is true. Martha is a Jersey girl who likes to have fun. I mean, publicity or not, could you ever imagine Ina with Snoop? On the other hand, the article is interesting in the lack of any non-celebrity friends of Ina. DL posters have noted for years that she has a lot of trouble hanging on to female friends.

by Anonymousreply 43September 3, 2024 6:04 PM

In 2016, Ina said this: "I only do dinner parties for six, so can I do six? Let's see ... I'll have an all-girls dinner party, how 'bout that? Julia Child, Mrs. Obama, Taylor Swift, me ... I have to invite my husband Jeffrey, right? And my best friend, Barbara Liberman," Garten told Time. "We'll have a really good time."

She and "best friend Barbara Liberman" no longer speak.

by Anonymousreply 44September 3, 2024 6:12 PM

I say this with love in my heart, but many of her guests in the earlier seasons of her show look very uncomfortable, as though a producer is standing just off camera with pepper spray or a taser.

by Anonymousreply 45September 3, 2024 7:01 PM

Ina Farten. Releasing gas multiple times a day.

by Anonymousreply 46September 3, 2024 7:05 PM

[quote] could you ever imagine Ina with Snoop?

Not really and I don't care (sorry, no offense meant). I'm kind of sick of seeing Martha and Snoop together as if everybody is supposed to be impressed.

If Ina has lost friends throughout the years, so what? Not every friendship is meant to last forever. We grow away from people.

Plus, she's been married for decades.

Who knows what she's really like, but I think Martha is just a "bad" as Ina is.

Tim Gunn observed Martha and her daughter together. Tim had a bad impression, called it "Grey Gardens" and said the daughter was rude.

by Anonymousreply 47September 3, 2024 7:41 PM

I think it was a think on that network. I remember watching Giada Di Laurentis and she too would have "friends over for dinners, and the awkwardness and lack of connection and authenticity was so obvious I felt sorry for her.

by Anonymousreply 48September 3, 2024 8:10 PM

When I mentioned this to my husband, he replied "Can I eat it?".

by Anonymousreply 49September 3, 2024 8:13 PM

Ima Farting is as wide as she is tall.

by Anonymousreply 50September 3, 2024 9:09 PM

R48 The mechanics of television production are so tedious and complex. Capturing a meal with friends (real ones or not) on film must be hard because of all the lighting and sound logistics, and most certainly the food served is likely cold or reheated by the time they are actually ready to film. So I can understand why some episodes feel stilted or staged by the time they’re edited and broadcast. It’s probably really hard to look natural and unaffected when a gathering is being filmed. The laughter feels more nervous than joyous.

by Anonymousreply 51September 3, 2024 9:12 PM

The article at R41 was interesting. She's purposely apolitical. She caught flak for featuring Michelle Obama (she'll never do it again because it wasn't worth the flak). Her good friend Taylor Swift took a stand against someone who was running for office and Ina said: "He won, anyway." She denies ghosting Martha when she went to prison. I think she did ghost Martha for going to prison.

by Anonymousreply 52September 3, 2024 9:40 PM

[quote]I say this with love in my heart, but many of her guests in the earlier seasons of her show look very uncomfortable, as though a producer is standing just off camera with pepper spray or a taser.

Agreed - "oh look, Ina busted into our home while we were at work and made us a prime rib dinner. Yes, it's delicious, but...we need to change the locks." That said, her camaraderie with most of these people, particularly that queeny florist seemed genuine - they really did seem to love her even if she was bossy as hell.

by Anonymousreply 54September 4, 2024 1:01 AM

R44 why’d they stop speaking to one another?

by Anonymousreply 55September 4, 2024 2:08 AM

Because Mrs Liberman used cheap store bought vanilla.

by Anonymousreply 56September 4, 2024 3:26 AM

Barbara?

R55, Ina used several of her recipes in her cookbooks and on her shows. Barbara thought she should be paid. Ina disagreed. Friendship over.

by Anonymousreply 58September 4, 2024 3:30 AM

Ina said the Libermans were their next door neighbors. I mean, it has to be awkward. Here is Jeffrey, Ina and the Libermans in happier times at an Into The Wood screening.
