Two of our beloved DL’ers—David van Auker and Buck Burns—who saved and returned a $100 million de Kooning painting and asked for nothing in return.

I vaguely remember the initial news story a few years back on finding the stolen painting.
Not the excellent and riveting documentary at the link but a local news report adding a bit more background.

Watched this last night and it really freaked me out. Something so much more sinister about seemingly normal, average people stealing art and killing people and getting away with it than your usual true crime serial killer. I can't believe it didn't get more buzz. And Buck and David are the cherries on top.

I am watching this on Prime right now. It's fascinating. No spoilers! They should have titled it When Soxiopaths Marry. They walk among us...

Just watched it -- great tip, OP! Loved the guys who found it and the nephew, the executor of the will. That's Glen Howerton from It's Always Sunny playing the strange husband/thief/music teacher.
