r66, They’re all in overdrive this morning on “The Weekend” praising Fani’s embarrassing and disgraceful witness stand performance on Thursday.
Fani gave a defense defeating appearance that totally showed she in no way profited from the relationship, which is apparently no big deal amongst attorneys in Georgia. Her father gave the death blow the next day, showing the Trump Enquirer investigation team were simply looking to dirty her up, and they came off as racist dirt bags. No surprise there.

I thought McKinnon left Axios to get away from the GOP talking points. But no, as a Post "reporter" she and Smirky are chewing the same cabbage twice: Biden is old, The democrats hate people who mention Biden is old, the Democrats cannot distance themselves from Biden's age, Biden is old and the Democrats do not like people bringing it up. Were bringing it up because Democrats have to address the issue.
FOR FUCK SAKE give it a rest.
When both Biden and Trump are the official nonretractable nominees of their party, this issue disappears. Both are old, but only Trump is the only Democracy Hating Rapist.

Some version of this.
R143
The fade. Shaved sides almost to skin.. Not always high on top. Not the same as high and tight.
I just happened on the picture of this guy - Alex Mohajer - running for the California Senate from Orange County. Even though he's from Orange County, I immediately knew he was gay from the haircut.
I live in a "gay-ish" town; 95% of the men all have the exact same haircut.
And yes, Alex is gorgeous no matter what his hair looks like.

Yep, I noticed that too. I think her personal life is bleeding into her work. That "is it fair" comment sounds more like it came from something she's going through than anything about Dump. Although it may not be her personal life, could be shitty corporate office politics at work. Or maybe she wants out of that marriage, or having kids not what she thought it would be cracked up to be. I miss the old Katie who was forced to fallow Trump and was a scrappy young journalist on the road instead of the boring soccer mom she has become.

I'm paraphrasing, but she asked the couple, who had just that day been denied the ability to have a viable embryo implanted, "Why are you doing this?" Meaning why are you doing IVF. Why are you doing this? Why are you doing this? Is Tur purposely evil?

I watch the MJ recap and the check into to Nicolle/Alicia (@ 4pm ET) to get the first analysis on what happened TODAY. If the first block is Gaza, I move to NBC Now for 20 mins.

It’s that this is an especially poorly educated country that allows too much local control over public schools, and has allowed people who don’t want their children to be taught anything they find “offensive” to opt out of public schools entirely into “religious” academies and even home-schooling.
We have an entire section of the country that wants to cling to any justification for slavery rather than confront its past. They even created a religion to defend slavery. And we let them wallow in their own ignorance as some kind of right.

I got this insider poll from MSNBC:
Hello -
Today we have a short survey about a few MSNBC anchors.
This survey should take less than 5 minutes to complete.
Please click below to share your feedback:
It was three questions about Nicolle returning NEXT WEEK!
These viewer polls are sneaky, and the main question was who do want to greet Nicolle back during her first week, and it had us rank the entire afternoon/evening hosts.
As a person with a master’s degree, that required stats and rankings this was not about greetings but ranking viewers preferences in hosts as they exempted Rachel.
I think this was a screw job on Alex Wagner and ranked Melber and Rhule last.
Anyone else get the survey?

Byron is the ONLY House Nigger in The Big House and, in all likelihood, the next House Speaker after they put Moses Mike in the basket and sail him down the river.

Leave Susanne Craig alone! She's a no nonsense lesbian who lives in a log cabin, wears flannel shirts, and chops her own wood. She has no time for makeup because when she isn't chopping wood, she's going through DJT's tax records. And she has great hair! What's not to love?
by Anonymous | reply 271 | February 25, 2024 9:02 PM |

Does she invite Rachel and Susan over for nutloaf?

I love how Susanne Craig, wonderful Lesbian, has distanced herself from Mary Trump, wonderful Lesbian, ever since Mary gave her all the confidential Trump documents Mary requested from the Trump Org as a TRUMP RELATIVE (they were in cardboard boxes decaying in a storage room in NYC) that Susanne investigated and received awards and accolades for?
Is Mary's $350M lawsuit for illegal settling her father's estate still active?

^^^ Any chance you might translate the above?
by Anonymous | reply 274 | February 25, 2024 9:58 PM |
r274,
1] Mary Trump asked the Trump Org for her father's documents on the settling of his estate.
2] Mary sued for the documents and found out that her mother had been screwed By Uncle Donald.
3] They were partial documents that she gave to Craig to further investigate.
4] Because, up to that time, no Trump Docs were ever revealed to the public, Craig ran with them.
5] The rest is Trump Org tax record history.
6] Is the Mary Trump estate suit still active.

Mary Trump was on Lawrence O'Donnell's show the other night. I haven't seen her in a while (or as the horrible saying goes - 'it's been a minute!' ). I can't get over how much she has aged (looks far older than her reported 61 years) , and she looks more and more like a Trump. Her speech seemed a bit off, too. I wonder if all this legal stuff with the family is wearing her down ?

I have to say Susanne has grown on me - especially when she was on MSNBC the weekend of the 'half billion dollar fine'. [quote]So Biden wins over 70% of the vote and yet MSNBC shows interviews with a Muslim woman and a purple haired they/them on their 'uncommitted vote.'
The agenda of ALL television news is to compel the viewer to keep watching and not change the channel. Period. The only way to compel the audience to stay glued to the screen is to create anxiety. When the facts alone do not create anxiety or sufficient curiosity, news media will use or create " stress points " around the facts in the form of negative conclusions or outcomes that could occur as a result of the event or that the event portends) A narrative emerges that they can use over and over again. Election cycles are peak times for this, but its constant no matter what is happening. "Breaking News" runs as a chiron non-stop because they know that even when the viewer knows they are being manipulated, their anxiety will compel them to look.
The news is not the news, its a mini action movie fashioned out of the facts on the ground. Save yourself and ONLY get your news from print media which is just as manipulative but it doesn't have the same impact on your biochemistry and you can at least get some perspective.
My advice is to work like your life depends on it to get Biden reelected (because it does) All journalists know that Dump is far, FAR worse than even what the general public knows about him but the news business is show business and a good show needs suspense
Save yourself. turn off the TV and VOTE. Vote for Democrats only, the Republicans are planning the autocracy as we speak, and they are fine with it. There are no good Republicans left. They will all fall in line

My point is that how he - Baker - presents stories - and they do tilt, if only because he both sides everything - yet MSNBC continues to promote him as being a neutral commentator. He is not neutral.
It doesn't matter how smart Baker and Glasser are - how they write and present the news is what matters. And if they're so smart, why are they not reporting the news in an objective manner - because they do not. They write for clicks just like almost all the rest. Or write for their employers.
If they are so smart why isn't every article they write clear about the dangers that trump represents instead of - looking at you, Peter - filling his precious column inches with bullshit about Biden's age? Smart people know that when we're dealing with Biden vs Trump, Biden's age doesn't mean fuck-all.

Baker's byline may accompany analysis, but our point is that Baker's analyses always both-sides everything. And there aren't two VALID sides to every argument about Trump.
And if you're writing about Hunter Biden's access to Joe Biden affecting his role as the President, you better the fuck mention the failsons and how they affected Trump's presidency as well as how they might affect a possible second Trump presidency.
And if you're writing about candidate Biden's age, you better the fuck mention the age of the other candidate.

Most journalists are liberal leaning, the job though, is to keep the ball in the air. You can't reassure your audience and keep them, you have to keep them scared and on edge to be engaged with your outlet/platform/ etc.
Having said that, no matter how liberal you are, as a journalist you get bombarded with calls from republicans pushing their agenda, and it does have an impact even on the most liberal leaning reporters. Lemire is often criticized here for his both siderism with Biden, but he has to keep his sources alive and active by throwing them something. Lemire and his wife are both liberals but the JOB is getting eyeballs and clicks and you don't do that by being a slave to the obvious truth. Also keep in mind, most of these reporters get death threats, 90 % are from the right very few from the left. That tends to temper your reporting like it or not

I just watched a full hour of Ari Melber being as much as or more than the usual asshole. (And it was stiff competition of who was the bigger asshole since Carville was on.)
Can someone explain Melber to me, please? What is it he brings to the table? Why does he have his own show?
I don't care how smart he is, he's generally an asshole and a buffoon, negating whatever his smarts could provide.
What's the story?

R411 Years ago, when he first got started, I used to watch Ari all the time. He was handsome, sexy and smart. Over the years, he's aged terribly (he looks ten years older tan his 43 years) and looks grubby looking - no longer sexy. His smartness has become smugness. I usually tune into him for about five minutes or so, but inevitably change the channel. I think he's done - they need to replace him.
by Anonymous | reply 413 | March 1, 2024 1:03 AM |
He has a tragic case of middle-aged white guy trying to be hip while letting us know how he's no intellectual lightweight. I haven't watched him in about three years. Does he still quote rappers' lyrics relating them to whatever topic at hand? The cringe factor was off-the-scale.
by Anonymous | reply 414 | March 1, 2024 1:24 AM |
Yes to the rap lyrics. Many of the guests, including rap artists that he's trying to impress, look at him like he has two heads
I'd almost be embarrassed for him, except for his being. generally repulsive.

Joy and Toure had an interesting conversation about black rappers - and their support for Trump. He mentioned 'sexy Red' and openly said she didn't know what she was talking about when she gave her reasons for backing Trump (stimulus checks, which was the product of the Dems). They called out another rapper (Big Mike?) who said he dislikes Trump but loves sneakers - so he did a Tik Tok video of 'unboxing' the sneakers. I'm glad they had this discussion. Joy did say only 14% of black men support Trump, so it's not as bad as it seems.

It showed Biden running as a traditional unopposed incumbent and Trump as a loser who hhas ALREADY lost a third of his party.
The Big Deal is that Nikki is stress testing Trump as a Republican candidate for all the TRADITIONAL non-MAGA Republicans who may still exist.
For the Biden Campaign, it shows where Republicans for Biden can be cultivated.

Lawrence doesn't suffer fools gladly. Sometime ago there was an MSNBC panel covering either primaries or the actual 2020 election. Nicolle Wallace, Rachel Maddow, I think Joy and perhaps Ari, Lawrence and Donny Deutsch.
Deutsch has ahead of steam about himself in general, and he went off with some kind of opinion presenting it as political fact. Lawrence looking very unruffled immediately responded by saying that contributes absolutely nothing to the discussion because it has no basis in data and no real meaning (effectively letting Deutsch and the audience know what he thought of him as political commenter).
Omg, Donny started to splutter and defend himself, no one cared. Camera cut away. I will see if I can come up with the clip.

I agree R540. Wagner is indeed an embarrassment.

Alex Wagner, Chris Hayes, Joy Reid are obsessed with Uncommitted.
Step aside assholes, The actual real anchors know better.

I really like Alex.

Alex Wagner always seemed like a normie Dem on The Circus. Don't know what happened to her.

Kornacki just said that Haley is winning 25,% across the states. That 25% is enough for Trump to lose the General Election in a landslide.
In 1980 the pendulum swung to the Capitalists.
In 2024 the pendulum swings back to the people.

Porter and Lee are getting trounced in California.
by Anonymous | reply 551 | March 6, 2024 4:28 AM |
Lee is 77. Time to lecture at the Kennedy School of Government.
If Biden gets in, Porter will run a federal agency.
by Anonymous | reply 552 | March 6, 2024 4:35 AM |
I had to laugh at Rachel talking about Lee's future in politics, like the woman isn't already almost 80 years old. She shouldn't be running for anything after this.

Steve Garvey is 75 looks 95. The Steve Kornacki board had me scared there for a minute. I cant imagine a hard core Trumpeter sneaking in by a split vote to become our state Senator. He has ZERO experience running anything but his get off my lawn mouth.

Loved yesterday when Joe took the Southern Baptists to the woodshed for leaving being pro choice for pro life on POLITICAL grounds. Read Jerry Falwell for filth. I live for a Mika eye roll.
Talking about Mika's brother the Ambassador to Poland and traitor Trump, beautiful.

^ Traitor Trump should definitely be on the agenda. Juxtaposing JFK’s & Reagan’s inaugural address & tear down this wall speeches, respectively, with Trump’s various pro-Putin, anti-West pronouncements. And throw in 1/6 & Trump’s other anti-Constitution utterances for good measure.

Hans Nichols was on with Stephanie. Now there's a blast from the past; I haven't seen him on MSNBC in years. I suspect they're getting the band back together for the arduous election season. It's good to see the return of old favorites.

[quote] Hans Nichols was on with Stephanie. Now there's a blast from the past; I haven't seen him on MSNBC in years.
He was a Pentagon and White House correspondent for NBC News, so he used to appear all the time. But he left NBC in 2020 for Axios, so he stopped appearing regularly.

Another great example of Jake Sherman's bias and both-sides cheap shot writing...
Yesterday he was on talking about how raucous State of The Union speeches have become. What he neglected to say to put it in context - or just speak the truth - is that it all originated and continues to be a problem because of REUBLICANS.. One side. Not both sides.
It took me less than 30 seconds on the internet to find this explanation. Too bad he can't find the time to do the same, from his vaulted position.
(2023)
[quote]When South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson yelled “You lie!” during a 2009 speech President Barack Obama delivered to Congress, the breach of decorum quickly became the evening’s most notable moment. Members of both parties condemned the outburst, which was a response to the President’s claim that his health care plan would not apply to undocumented immigrants. After being booed by his colleagues, Wilson issued an apology and expressed contrition to Obama’s chief of staff.
[quote]Fourteen years later, heckling, booing, and yelling at the President has become the norm.
[quote]During this year’s State of the Union speech on Tuesday, Republicans shouted at President Joe Biden on-and-off throughout the address. Though they were occasionally met by shushing and calls for order, those efforts didn’t end the interruptions.
[quote]At the beginning, things seemed to be going smoothly, with Democrats whooping, cheering, and applauding many of Biden’s points and Republicans clapping politely or, most of the time, remaining pointedly silent. But that changed when Biden moved on to the debt ceiling and accused Republicans of wanting to sunset Social Security and Medicare.
[quote]Biden’s suggestion led to one of the loudest reactions of the evening, with many Republicans booing and shouting “No!” in response. “Liar!” yelled Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who sat in the back of the chamber wearing a white fur outfit almost as loud as her outcry. But rather than becoming the defining moment of the event, the remark just opened the floodgates.

What's become of Jonathan Swan (speaking of Axios)? Does he appear on MSNBC and I just keep missing him? Does he appear somewhere else? And yes, I know his wife Betsy appears on MSNBC.

R580, He pops up occasionally on FOX News Channel.

I am answering my own question above. That was former Columbia, South Carolina mayor, Steve Benjamin, now a Biden advisor. So
by Anonymous | reply 589 | March 7, 2024 4:17 PM |
R586, yes I saw R581’s link. But that was from a September (not clear if that was 2021 or 2022) episode of Fox’s Special Report, at a time Swan was still at Axios. I - painfully - watch Special Report everyday & Swan, who was once a rather regular guest, has not been back on in a long time, certainly not since he joined the Times in January 2023.
by Anonymous | reply 590 | March 7, 2024 5:27 PM |
I don’t even see Betsy that much. Only rarely.

Steve Benjamin, bald Democratic strategist for Biden, must have some worth to the campaign, but he's useless on TV. Nicole and David Jolly were pressing him to answer a question about how the Biden campaign could/should reach out to.Haley voters.
He's a robot without a bit of nuance. David asked the question and got a robotic prepared answer, and Nicole tried asking the same question twice trying - by changing a few words in the same question - to elicit the answer, or any answer. All three times he gave the same robotic answer talking about Biden's accomplishments. It was ridiculous. And he's clueless about the state of the election. Jolly, a former Republican who frequently says the only way out of this mess is to vote for Democrats, was legitimately probing for what the answer might be for Biden to reach Haley undecideds. Benjamin couldn't get passed his canned response, which didn't come close to really answering their question.
They gave up and Nicole, who made some comment about the answer being the same day by day, ended the interview while she and David smiled and repressed laughter.
As always, Democrats need some serious help in getting out their message, and Benjamin is useless at it.
