It has so much energy. It’s a great song to workout to, seriously. It still sounds amazing in 2024! I always liked this song and still do.
It’s her best.

It’s a good song, but it reminds me of Dr. Laura
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 14, 2024 7:38 PM |
I love it despite the association with Dr Laura.

Let me know if ya want to know what’s on my Patti LaBelle playlist

Was this song really popular in the sense that people found it hip?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 14, 2024 7:46 PM |
Ooh ooh, ooh ooh oooooooohhhhh! I got a new attitooode!
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 14, 2024 7:48 PM |
This was of course the greatest cover of it.

Dreck

No r4 ad far as new or hip sounding. It came out in late ‘84 but the cheap analog synths and Linn drums sound like 1979.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 14, 2024 7:55 PM |
R8 were you around in 1979? Popular music in 1979 didn’t sound like this.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 14, 2024 7:56 PM |
Utter garbage. No wonder OP likes it.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 14, 2024 7:56 PM |
I loathe this song.....it's like saccharin.
Now, there IS a Patti song from that era that remains a classic
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 14, 2024 7:58 PM |
Yes r9. The Patti song sounded dated upon release. I’m 50! 50 years old!!!
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 14, 2024 7:59 PM |
It’s fun n catchy like me!!
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 14, 2024 8:00 PM |
Or this bit of flawlessness
"If that turns you off baby.....you ain't worth me anyway!"
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 14, 2024 8:00 PM |
It wasn't supposed to be a serious song--it was supposed to be like "Girls Just Want to Have Fun"--a light, frothy, silly song.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 14, 2024 8:02 PM |
No. Her best song is "Oh, People!"
Or maybe On My Own, the duet with Michael McDonald.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 14, 2024 8:12 PM |
I’m partial to this one from the Bond film, Licensed To Kill.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 14, 2024 8:18 PM |
I still say "It was ex-TREEEEME!"
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 14, 2024 8:54 PM |
This is the only version of New Attitude that I’ll allow myself to bop to.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 14, 2024 8:58 PM |
I prefer "Stir It Up."
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 14, 2024 9:10 PM |
Corpse likes to stir shit
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 14, 2024 9:13 PM |
R12 but can you kick?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 15, 2024 4:13 AM |
R24
I can kick, stretch and KICK!!!

This came out around the summer of 85 (or 86?) I think. Not long before Madonna’s True Blue. I was a freshman at LSU and I remember bouncing around my dorm room to it when my roommate Brian, who was on the wrestling team was out at class or with his girlfriend. As someone else said, it was a light and fluffy song, you can see the intention of that in the video. It was fun, we were all so innocent back then. How I miss it.

T27 it was released in November or December of 1984. It appeared on the Beverly Hills Cop movie soundtrack
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 15, 2024 6:18 PM |
R27!
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 15, 2024 6:18 PM |
R28 ok and? It was a song played for months after coming out and especially during that summer of 1985. As stated, it was fun and full of energy. A great summer song.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 15, 2024 6:24 PM |
Patti's "Total Concentration" from the lost movie "Sing".
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 15, 2024 6:37 PM |
R30 dial down your new attitude
It was released as a single in December 1984. It came out a year and a half before Madonna’s True Blue album. Not trying to deflate your balloon even though you are seeing it as such
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 15, 2024 7:19 PM |
I agree with r23. Stir It Up is the best, better than her sweet potato pie.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 15, 2024 7:30 PM |
Her Buttermilk Pie is the best on the market.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 15, 2024 7:43 PM |
It's not nearly her best song, but it is good for nostalgia sake. "Stir It Up" from Beverly Hills Cop is superior between the two, but even that is not her greatest. This one here is probably a contender...

I said, say my name!
Patti, Patti!
SAY MY NAME!
PATTI! PATTI!
by Anonymous | reply 36 | February 15, 2024 7:50 PM |
I worked at a movie theater that showed "Beverly Hills Cop" for months. I have fond memories of "New Attitude" and "Stir It Up", and the Pointer Sisters "Neutron Dance."
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 15, 2024 8:19 PM |
It is on par with Diana Ross’s Upside Down / Inside Out. DR’s song is better, tho.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 15, 2024 8:43 PM |
On repeat.
