BEYONCE IS DROPPING AN ALL-COUNTRY ALBUM

You heard that right. Beyonce is dropping an album of what are sure to become country music standards.

She is moving in the opposite direction from Taylor Swift, just as comparisons between the two entertainers' legendary statuses begin to captivate the zeitgeist.

I'm here for it! I have been getting into a little country music myself.

The Queen has dabbled in country before most notably with her highly acclaimed Daddy Lessons song from Lemonade and its live performance with the legendary Dixie Chix at the 2016 CMAs. Even songs like Irreplaceable a have a lite country flavor.

by Anonymousreply 2February 12, 2024 2:03 PM

4 threads on this shit and a total of 12 replies LOL

Her career has peaked.

by Anonymousreply 3February 12, 2024 2:06 PM

Oh, gee, oh

by Anonymousreply 4February 12, 2024 2:33 PM

The songs aren’t good

by Anonymousreply 5February 12, 2024 2:37 PM

She’s reimagining country music

by Anonymousreply 6February 12, 2024 2:40 PM

R6 Twitter is revising history and saying black people are solely responsible for inventing country music

by Anonymousreply 7February 12, 2024 2:47 PM

Country music started with the banjo, and the banjo is derived from a West African instrument that would never have been popularized if it weren't for the fact that it was imported by black slaves. So there is a credible case for that, R7.

by Anonymousreply 8February 12, 2024 2:54 PM

The Queen of Cultural Appropriation strikes again!

by Anonymousreply 9February 12, 2024 2:58 PM

R8 right. Blacks invented country and jazz. Stay mad Trumpster.

by Anonymousreply 10February 12, 2024 2:58 PM

Now I get why she wore the stupid cowboy hat with the blonde wig to the Grammys.

by Anonymousreply 11February 12, 2024 3:04 PM

It’s sports teams. Banjo= Blacks 1, Whites 0

by Anonymousreply 12February 12, 2024 3:06 PM

R8 do you credit whites with anything positive? Just give us one thing, just say one.

by Anonymousreply 16February 12, 2024 3:12 PM

Country music is the whitest music out there. No matter who inventered the banjo, the genre really took hold when hillbillies started yodeling back in the 1920s or so. For further information check out Ken Burns documentary series on country music.

by Anonymousreply 17February 12, 2024 3:12 PM

I have seen the Ken Burns documentary series and in fact, that is where I got my information, R17.

by Anonymousreply 18February 12, 2024 3:23 PM

R13 Of course I do. Whites created Western civilization— thank God.

Whites created our modern judicial system. They invented ships, electricity. I love white people.

by Anonymousreply 19February 12, 2024 3:25 PM

[quote] No matter who inventered the banjo

Although I am not surprised that a Trumptard would feel the urgent need to swat the question aside, "who invented the banjo" DOES matter to the topic at hand.

by Anonymousreply 20February 12, 2024 3:26 PM

[quote]Whites created Western civilization— thank God.

I can agree with that. Unless you are conflating the term Western Civilization with "western culture." In which case, you are dead wrong, Teacake.

by Anonymousreply 23February 12, 2024 3:30 PM

They also invented line dancing, Cinnabon, and wine bars. Yeah for white people!

by Anonymousreply 24February 12, 2024 3:34 PM

Based on her last album, the media and her crazy fans will claim this album will "bring back country" and "the most popular album of the year", all while Taylor outsells her 4 to 1.

by Anonymousreply 25February 12, 2024 3:38 PM

Tina Turner did it better.

by Anonymousreply 26February 12, 2024 3:40 PM

R25 what is your obsession with race and Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift is having her moment and is under 40 and blue eyes and blonde. Beyonce has been in the game 25 years and just completed a tour that generated over 700 mil. She has some of the biggest songs in pop history and is the most Grammy awarded person of all time. Are you ok?

by Anonymousreply 27February 12, 2024 3:40 PM

R25 No one ever said Lemonade will be the most popular when Drake dropped his album around the same time lol. We know the Queen is thinking about quality and legacy not current pop tastes.

by Anonymousreply 28February 12, 2024 3:41 PM

R27, I never mentioned race. Are you ok? And you're describing Taylor as having "a moment"? Being A-list for like 15 years is not "a moment". If that's a moment, then Beyonce was a blip.

by Anonymousreply 29February 12, 2024 3:41 PM

Make Beyonce and Taylor go away.

by Anonymousreply 30February 12, 2024 3:42 PM

R27 needs to seek psychiatric evaluation.

by Anonymousreply 31February 12, 2024 3:42 PM

R29 It’s okay to be apart of the Tay Hive. She is cute. I love that she got Trump shaking in his boots.

by Anonymousreply 32February 12, 2024 3:43 PM

NEVER analyze or critique Beyoncé or any black woman! Feel free to tear Taylor Swift and all those nasty white Karen women to shreds or any white people really, but don’t dare say an ill word towards a black! That be racist!!!

by Anonymousreply 33February 12, 2024 3:45 PM

[quote] Are you ok?

We're fine, Teacack. You're the one who needs psychiatric help.

by Anonymousreply 35February 12, 2024 3:47 PM

[quote] [R8] do you credit whites with anything positive? Just give us one thing, just say one.

Whites have demonstrated pathological persistence in minimizing, to the point of erasing, the contributions of Blacks in building this so-called great nation and its culture.

Is persistence a positive attribute?

by Anonymousreply 39February 12, 2024 3:58 PM

Mystery solved: Blacks = 0. Whites = Everything. LOL!

by Anonymousreply 42February 12, 2024 4:50 PM

R42 Don’t ever and I mean ever disrespect and belittle my race that way. You are on timeout for today. You mines well be a Trumpster if you think that analogy works.

by Anonymousreply 46February 12, 2024 5:21 PM

I'm just rolling my eyes at people like R42. At this point, it's not even offensive, it's just idiotic. Like, a sizable number of people are doing a kind of reverse step-n-fetchit in fealty to a reality game show host who got himself elected president on a technicality. These people are too stupid to constitute a threat to anyone. It's actually kind of hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 47February 12, 2024 5:36 PM

by Anonymousreply 55February 12, 2024 5:58 PM

This latest album reeks of Gaga's country attempt. Bey is grasping around and trying to find something that hits as she continues to slide.

Her shtick is getting old: revolving producers; image-heavy product that will translate well for the upcoming cash grab, ahem, tour; forgettable music; meaningless, pseudo-cultural statements (BLM, gay techno, country revival, etc.) mixed in with some navel-gazing, bland relationship lyrics thrown in; with a topping of wall-to-wall PR. None of the albums are cohesive with the ones issued before or whatever Beyonce's image is supposed to be now. She's become a human Cirque du Soleil - enjoyable but empty entertainment for the masses that switches things up every season to keep the $$$ rolling in.

She really should have just gone away for a while to regroup. She was at the very top, pop culture-wise, and now her star has faded (flagging tour sales, the speed in which her tour movie disappeared). The slippage must feel all too real with Taylor's mega year. Some might think they should not be compared as their fanbases mostly do not overlap. But both are vying for the mainstream market opportunities.

by Anonymousreply 56February 12, 2024 6:13 PM

R56 Except these songs have way stronger melodies and hooks. Gaga’s album was more folksy while this is clearly country pop with the Queen’s soulful vocals.

Of course many on here are not even going to give it a chance because it is the Queen.

by Anonymousreply 57February 12, 2024 6:25 PM

R56, I almost forgot that her tour movie quickly fell out of the top 3. Of course, it was hyped to death so it did well the first couple of weeks.

by Anonymousreply 58February 12, 2024 6:25 PM

R56 Nothing about the Queen’s music is meaningless. NOTHING.

🎶 Doing everything they said you couldn’t do 🎼

by Anonymousreply 59February 12, 2024 6:26 PM

R57 And I say that as someone who thinks Gaga is only one of these gals on the Queen’s level talent wise.

by Anonymousreply 60February 12, 2024 6:27 PM

Didn't Gaga already do this with Joanne? Gaga also beat Bey to the 90s house concept album with Chromatica.

Not saying Bey is copying her, but that's a little weird.

That said, I am not much of a Bey fan but I actually like that 16 Carriages song.

by Anonymousreply 61February 12, 2024 6:31 PM

Oops! I hadn't read the entire thread yet and just saw that the Gaga thing has already been discussed.

by Anonymousreply 62February 12, 2024 6:32 PM

Something else they can snub her for......

by Anonymousreply 63February 12, 2024 6:35 PM

Wow. Imagine Jay-Z's tantrum when Bey doesn't win an armful of ACM awards, or whatever they're called for country music.

by Anonymousreply 64February 12, 2024 6:36 PM

She may do well with country music. She doesn't need to do the blonde wig and cowboy hat shtick, though. I mean yes, I understand playing into the genre, but she looked ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 65February 12, 2024 6:44 PM

[quote] I almost forgot that her tour movie quickly fell out of the top 3. Of course, it was hyped to death so it did well the first couple of weeks.

No it didn't. It was a flop in its first week and was pretty much gone after the 2nd week.

Kind of like everything else Beyonce does.

by Anonymousreply 70February 12, 2024 6:58 PM

Desperate.

by Anonymousreply 71February 12, 2024 6:58 PM

R65 But she has already been rocking blonde hair and cowboys hate for the past 20 years.

Mary J, Marilyn Monroe and the late great Tina Turner consistently rock blonde hair. And I say that because none of those women are natural blondes.

by Anonymousreply 72February 12, 2024 7:07 PM

R68 I am not 2 of those people. Please try to respect me.

by Anonymousreply 73February 12, 2024 7:08 PM

An Anal Cunty album I could understand.

by Anonymousreply 74February 12, 2024 7:14 PM

Sorry R28, but if she were thinking about quality she wouldn't have released dismally bad albums like Lemonade, Beyoncé and the mostly unmelodious Renaissance, while promoting them by saying 'if you don't agree that my albums are legendary, then you're a racist!'.

She is a good singer, but most of her material since 2013 has been atrocious. Also, it's impossible to compare La Knowles to Taylor Swift, because Beyoncé has talent and Styrofoam Cutout is a talentless rich girl whose daddy bought her a career.

by Anonymousreply 75February 12, 2024 7:35 PM

R75 question why were ALL of those albums so highly rated universally by 2 dozen publications and received Grammys for AOTY. COULD THE ISSUE BE YOU?

Please respond to my questions.

Revisionist history again. Settlers brought English language ballads, church hymns and the violin/fiddle from Europe. No one group can claim ownership country, which evolved on American shores.

by Anonymousreply 80February 12, 2024 8:38 PM

^No one group can claim ownership to country music

by Anonymousreply 81February 12, 2024 8:39 PM

She's not even up to the designation of Duchess or Countess Bey these days. I wonder how she is going to take on the fact she is aging. Endless surgeries I'd suspect. She comes off as entitled to the point where she should be embarrassed. Give it all a big, long rest (currently Baroness) Bey. You're slipping to a status of being lower and lower on down that superficial royalty chain. No, not jealous or envious ... just tired of her and her uglyass husband.

by Anonymousreply 82February 12, 2024 9:03 PM

She's so fucking desperate for that "Album Of The Year" Grammy. I wonder how long it took her vast team of writers and producers to come up with this.

Sure, it'll be "I'm a girl from Texas...", but knowing her, will also try to wedge in some preachy, grandiose political and social statement that will turn everyone off AGAIN. If the material is strong enough, it'll stand on its own.

Speaking of which, she should stick to the music, because everything post -"I Am..." has been dreck. And also because she needs to learn how to sing, not warble. But instead, we'll get another try-too-hard concept album. I don't need a history lesson from an out-of-touch high school dropout pop star who allegedly reads as well as she "sings".

by Anonymousreply 83February 12, 2024 9:11 PM

R83 If she were desperate she would sulked or make noise about her numerous losses. Just because yall basic hoes, you don’t think a creative person someone in the arts will try different styles of music. Don’t lie on the Queen again.

by Anonymousreply 84February 12, 2024 9:14 PM

by Anonymousreply 106February 13, 2024 2:24 PM

The Queen is the King of entertainment. The first lady of music.

Azelia Banks is severely mentally ill. She violently lashed out at Russell Crow and accused him of all type of vicious lies. She is a homophobic borderline personality. She also claimed Rihanna tried to kidnap and rape her.

by Anonymousreply 107February 13, 2024 2:25 PM

This is just another gimmick to come across as a serious "artiste".

She wants to be seen as a Stevie Wonder/Prince level genius but she still has writing camps putting these projects together which is why she won't win AOTY which she desperately wants. The latest songs have 4-5 writers on them. I think she also wants to be seen as the new Queen of Reinvention like Madonna. Azealia at R101 is right, it comes across as lazy narcissism.

She's going to do every genre known to man as a vapid box checking exercise to try to win artistic credibility.

by Anonymousreply 108February 13, 2024 2:26 PM

The song in R104 sounds like very standard pop country clumsily forced through a hip hop filter. It's not great, but the verses and chorus have a discernible melody, even if the ending is hideous.

At least this time she is trying, instead of lazily releasing tuneless crap that she tries to pass for sublime art because it's supposed to have political and social themes.

by Anonymousreply 114February 13, 2024 2:32 PM

R106, listen to the finish around 3:06, where she tries to get all sexy and sounds like she's switching genres because country can't allow sexy.

Is this an unvarnished appeal to white Hoopies for a Black goddess Album of the Year?

Finally?

by Anonymousreply 131February 13, 2024 5:00 PM

I am not a huge Beyonce fan, but she is an icon, a force of commercial and cultural power. This is an interesting move... a little baffling. But most importantly (to me), I listened to them and am astonished how mediocre they are. Meh.

by Anonymousreply 132February 13, 2024 5:10 PM

R132 The thing about the Queen is that her first singles are almost never better than the rest to come. I like Texas Hold ‘em tho.

by Anonymousreply 133February 13, 2024 5:15 PM

16 Carriages. Her runs are pretty funny in this genre.

Beyonce hasn't been a commercial force since her self-titled album. It's all been downhill after that. Based on how the press was talking about it, you'd think Renaissance was the biggest album of all time.

by Anonymousreply 137February 13, 2024 6:12 PM

R137 why lie? You must be back on the sauce.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 138February 13, 2024 6:14 PM

It's not a lie. Beyonce stans act like she has the popularity of Michael Jackson when she isn't even anywhere near Madonna's level. She's more like a more popular Janet.

by Anonymousreply 139February 13, 2024 6:16 PM

I was gonna say that at least Janet could sing, but then I remembered…🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭😈😈😈😈😈

[quote][R120] of course I didn't know! This is the first interaction I've had with that BrickPollitt account. How many fucking accounts does that CUNT have!??? Pathetic!!

He created this new persona after he started two very embarrassing threads, one complaining to Muriel about brown voices being silenced on DL, and the other one claiming to be a bisexual sex addict.

by Anonymousreply 141February 13, 2024 6:41 PM

R139 We’ve never behaved such way. But Beyoncé's beauty and talent is timeless. Unfortunately MJ was likely a sexual predator. Queen Bey will just get more and more popular amongst future generations until she is carbon copied during the singularity.

Beyonce Giselle Knowles Carter is the Martin Luther King Jr. of recorded music.

by Anonymousreply 142February 13, 2024 6:53 PM

[quote] He created this new persona after he started two very embarrassing threads, one complaining to Muriel about brown voices being silenced on DL, and the other one claiming to be a bisexual sex addict.

Yes, Teacack's favorite thing was to threaten others that he was going to get Muriel to "shut them down," as if he had any power whatsoever.

by Anonymousreply 143February 13, 2024 7:01 PM

[quote]Beyonce Giselle Knowles Carter is the Martin Luther King Jr. of recorded music.

You lost me at Beyonce.

by Anonymousreply 144February 13, 2024 7:21 PM

Beyonce ought to be on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard because her music is a crime.

by Anonymousreply 145February 13, 2024 7:26 PM

[quote]^No one group can claim ownership to country music

Agreed. It is an amalgam of different music forms. Suggesting it belongs to any one group is wrong.

by Anonymousreply 146February 13, 2024 7:59 PM

R146 I actually agree with you.

by Anonymousreply 147February 13, 2024 8:03 PM

R17 Old country is literally blues with yodeling. That “Blue Yodel” song is basically Leadbelly with a yodeling chorus.

by Anonymousreply 148February 13, 2024 8:05 PM

R42 It’s retarded to think black people didn’t have an influence in country music.

It’s only because of the internet that blacks are now credited for rock and roll. Same for house music.

They’ve been so whitewashed that blacks were removed from the genres.

In the future, white people will think it’s ridiculous that black people invented hip-hop. They’re already trying to change the narrative that Latinos started it. It’s only a matter of time before hip-hop becomes a white creation.

by Anonymousreply 149February 13, 2024 8:11 PM

When I was growing up in the 90’s as a kid, they used to say “Rock Around the Clock Tonight” was the first rock and roll song.

It’s since been debunked but there are still people who believe that.

by Anonymousreply 150February 13, 2024 8:12 PM

Another interesting thing since we’re on the subject.

Screamin Jay Hawkins is now getting his due for his influence on goth music and metal, as there’s information that validates his influence on Black Sabbath and Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie and Manson.

Country wasn’t always so segregated.

My black grandparents had old country records. There are a few R&B artists from the 60’s and 70’s who recorded country albums or reworked country songs into more rhythmic music for their audiences.

I don’t think it was always a “I hate black people” genre of music.

No it hasn't you idiot. Where do you get your information from, Tik Tok? Rock Around the Clock is considered the first genre song of the rock and roll era. That means on the charts, as well as how it influenced that generation of teenagers into changing their musical tastes.

Read a book.

by Anonymousreply 155February 13, 2024 8:26 PM

by Anonymousreply 160February 13, 2024 9:09 PM

R160 Since when is the Queen full of herself. Stop lying on that woman’s name.

by Anonymousreply 161February 13, 2024 9:22 PM

[quote] It’s only because of the internet that blacks are now credited for rock and roll. Same for house music.

This is such BS. As long as I've been alive, rock music has always been credited as being started by black people. As have most other popular music genres.

by Anonymousreply 164February 13, 2024 9:29 PM

Madonna, Lady Gaga, PJ Harvey, Joni Mitchell, Mariah Carey--just to name a few--have all dabled in different genres and their core audience was mostly fine with this. So I don't know what R162 is complaining about.

by Anonymousreply 165February 13, 2024 9:34 PM

As much as I rag on Beyonce's music, I feel bad for her. She was worked like a horse by her father and now she has Jay as her keeper. Even though her music is overhyped, she is an extremely hard worker and a top-notch performer. She should be taking a break after past year of touring. Instead, Jay has her out there again trying to squeeze some more $$$ out of her fans before Beyonce ages completely out of her 'young artist' imagery.

If he doesn't watch it, he is going to make them into a mockery from over exposure. There have already been memes circulating after the Super Bowl about how Jay looks like a grandma. People are shitting all over these two new releases. They need to just go away for a while and preserve whatever mystique they have left. Regroup and come back with some real jams.

by Anonymousreply 166February 13, 2024 9:37 PM

by Anonymousreply 169February 13, 2024 10:23 PM

by Anonymousreply 180February 14, 2024 3:13 AM

I think Joni Mitchell is the standard of "changing styles"... from her first album to Mingus was quite a journey.

but others, beyond those mentioned, have tracked through multiple genres: Katy Perry was a Christian artist before she went pop-dirty. Lana del Rey, Gwen Stefani, Pink, Miley Cyrus, Kelly Clarkson to just mention some in recent years.

by Anonymousreply 181February 14, 2024 3:29 AM

by Anonymousreply 189February 14, 2024 5:24 AM

Rock and roll is a “white” genre today.

But you’re probably 100 years old and don’t know that.

by Anonymousreply 191February 14, 2024 5:28 AM

R166 What makes you think Jay is running the show?

Jay-Z drove Def Jam into the ground when he was President and sold it off. He hasn’t had a big album in years either.

The truth is it’s the opposite. Beyonce 100% had a hand in his business deals and career.

Matthew has been out of the picture for years.

To think she’s some robot Britney Spears is crazy.

by Anonymousreply 192February 14, 2024 5:32 AM
