Famous actors and actresses seem to divorce more frequently than normal people do
There are so few famous actors and actresses still in long-lasting marriages. I am always struck when i goon wikipedia or imdb to look up an actor's or actress's bio they and find they have usually been married and divorced at least once.
is it because their lives are so unstable because of filming on location, or is it because of their fragile egos? Or both? or is it because they're always being tempted because they're famous and people throw themselves at them?

They also have the money to be able to divorce. Some couples stay together only because they can't afford to strike out on their own.

R4 I looked it up and a study found that celebs are twice as likely to divorce.
"New research from Marriage Foundation has found celebrities are twice as likely to divorce as the rest of us.
Marriage Foundation, the think tank founded to promote stable families, looked at 488 celebrity couples who married between 2001 and 2010.
The research revealed the celebrity divorce rate over the first fourteen years of marriage to be at 50 per cent, double the current UK divorce rate over the same period, which is at 26 per cent.
Harry Benson, Research Director of Marriage Foundation commented: ‘Usually people with huge wealth are cushioned from the kind of stress and tensions than can lead to family breakdown.
“So it would be reasonable to think that wealthy celebs would have the lowest rates of divorce. In fact the reverse is true. Celebrities as a group divorce at roughly double the rate of us ordinary mortals.
“Their record is worst of all in the early years of marriage. In the first year, celebrities are almost six times more likely to divorce than non-celebs.
“So those who hanker after fame and fortune should be careful what they wish for. The current divorce rate for ordinary couples over a lifetime is 39 per cent. Celebrity couples exceed that in only ten years.”

I know a few actors who aren't famous but have had bit roles in some pretty big shows over the years. I can tell you this...actors are very strange people who have a lot of emotional issues. Passionate people when it comes to their craft but all of them are fucking drama.

Money - they can afford to get married & divorced without to much thought or concern. A lot of relationships run their course after 5/6 years and most of us aren’t married in that time, we just go our separate ways. People - celebs, particularly actors, meet far more people than your average person. They are on different sets or theatre productions with hundreds of different people, cast, crew etc. Whereas you average person goes to the same job with the same people day in, day out. Might go out with mates & meet other people but still not that many. You don’t get to know lots of different people frequently. Not saying you should cheat/divorce because of it but there is a higher chance of meeting someone new you genuinely connect with, particularly if you married someone quite quickly, as celebs seem to do (see money). Ego - speaks for itself. Time - Honestly, can’t be easy being married to a famous actor. They film for months at a time, then have award & promo circuits to do. And if it’s some kinda hit romance, said actor has to pretend to be BFFs with their co-star these days to drum up interest.

Small surprise.
Touring, filming away on location, the burden of recognition, the pressure of gossip media to know who someone is dating at every moment, and constant inquiries as to why a celebrity is not married at a ripe age of 23.
To name a few obvious factors.

They also get pre-nups that allow them to pull chute and expedite going their separate ways. They don’t want messiness to hit the press so they usually get out fast and quietly.

And another obvious point: more than a few celebrity marriages are strategic, having been built on the hopeful idea of a sum being greater than its parts - synergy, Brangelina, and all that. When the synergy is lopsided, the foundation of the marriage is lost. Time to dump the old and regroup. Likewise, is everything works swimmingly for both, they don't need each other anymore.

A lot of the successful marriages are when one spouse is not in the biz and they lead lives out of the spotlight.
