Glen Powell is on a roll!

Less than two years ago, he made a splash in the TOP GUN sequel, which was a blockbuster.

His current rom-com ANYONE BUT YOU has so far grossed $170 on a $25 million budget and continues to be in the Top 10 at the box office two months after opening.

And now he has the TWISTER sequel in the wings, which no doubt will be a moneymaker.

He's certainly more of a movie star than the likes of Jacob Elordi or Barry Keoghan who get a lot of publicity but can't get people to go see their films (e.g. PRISCILLA, SALTBURN).

r49 I see now why people who had seen that trailer in the theatre were saying it was nowhere near as good as the first trailer. Way too long, I zoned out halfway through. Some of the ADR is most foul, especially the segment at 0:38.

DL fave Glen Powell is a movie star, his mouth acting is incredible in that. The next Tom Cruise.

If I've checked my brain cells by performing the act of buying a ticket, I want all the bad dialog, CGI and stupidness my entertainment dollar can buy.

I remember the lunch scene of the original when Lois Smith cooked up all those blackened steaks and got so hungry.

It was not too fancy but it was good, wholesome American fare!

This site is saying $65-95 million opening weekend.

They’re saying $50 million now but I think studios are low balling openings now cause they’re scared.

It would have to make $400 million to break even.

I’m very interested in this because I want to see if the Glen Powell hype paid off.

$55 million isn’t that good. It’s going to do the same as the Bad Boys movie which was half the cost to make. That’s been out for a month and is at $330 million worldwide.

So if Twisters follows the same path, it’s a flop for them.

I don't want to jump the gun and call it a flop but I think it's very possible that it opens below expectations. The awful CGI and flat acting didn't make a very good trailer. Also, the lead actress is bland and boring and the anti-woke moviegoers will be turned off by the real or perceived girl power messages.

I never miss a tornado movie. I even went to that low budget one from five years ago with Richard Armitage.

Powell’s “Hit Man” TV movie was a smash on Netflix, and though a tornado chase movie would seem to favor a young male audience, Powell has become enough of a name with straight audiences (and especially women) to make a difference at the box office woth this film. I think it’ll be big.
