I like SNL's version.

Bey picked it up around 2006 or so when someone put the song "Walk It Out" by Unk.

Gwen never won Album of the Year either. Coincidence or more evidence of bias?!

by Anonymousreply 4February 9, 2024 6:59 PM

She does it often, but the yass slay kweens don’t want to hear about it.

by Anonymousreply 5February 9, 2024 7:01 PM

I prefer the slightly pared down live version of the choreography over the too frenetic music video or staid original.

Their hairstyles make them look like they should be hosting Tupperware parties so the dancing seems even better.

by Anonymousreply 7February 9, 2024 8:00 PM

SO fabulous. SO Fosse.

by Anonymousreply 8February 9, 2024 8:17 PM

No singing at all?

by Anonymousreply 9February 9, 2024 8:20 PM

R5 We already knew about this. Queen Bey acknowledged this when Single Ladies came out. She took that lady’s foundation and transformed it. The Queen is so dam musically brilliant. Just like MJ transformed James Brown’s moonwalk.

R5 And I’m not a yass Kween but many of the Queens fans are.

My mom wore paintsuits like that in the early 70s

But could she shake her ass like that?

Honestly, that's a pretty slutty dance for some old ladies.

by Anonymousreply 15February 10, 2024 3:49 AM

Gwen was 44 years old when that was shown in 1969.

Believe it or not, this scandal was covered extensively on DL when the Single Ladies video dropped! I remember being fascinated by the original choreography.

So they were the Madonna of the 1960's?

by Anonymousreply 18February 10, 2024 6:06 PM

Egregiously paraphrasing John Lennon:

Nothing is new. It's all been done before.

by Anonymousreply 19February 10, 2024 6:13 PM

nihil sub sole novum

by Anonymousreply 20February 10, 2024 8:11 PM

Did Beyonce copy it or did her team? I doubt Beyonce even knows who Gwen Verdon was.

Was she the third member of Destiny’s Child? There was me, Solange, … and Gwen?

by Anonymousreply 22February 10, 2024 8:20 PM

This looks like the kind of dancing you'd see on Murder, She Wrote.
