Remember that show? I don't think I finished it, but can't be certain. Aired in September 2020, which seems like a lifetime ago.
As shitty as it was, I liked it enough to want to see a season 2. I'm a bit bummed.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 5, 2024 3:16 AM |
I couldn't find a way to see but wanted to because Judy Davis is in it.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 5, 2024 3:19 AM |
I don’t remember much about the actual series, but I do remember a still of the series with Sharon Stone dressed like Gloria Swanson with a monkey on her shoulder.
A show promising that level of camp can be anywhere from awesome to terrible, but it should never be unmemorable. Ratched was.

Very disappointing waste of Corey Stoll's talents, and even more, his hot body.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 5, 2024 3:29 AM |
Good. Just another movie/film where 'wokes' are trying to 'rehabilitate' evil women's images, fictional or real.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 5, 2024 3:40 AM |
I just remember the costumes being so out of this world that people were bitching about the fact that a nurse could never afford to dress like that. Set design was outstanding as well. It's the writing that was kinda shit.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 5, 2024 3:41 AM |
Netflix makes yet another shitty decision. Shocking.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 5, 2024 4:01 AM |
R5 Maleficent was an earlier example of this. Except it was done because it was purely a vanity project for Angelina Jolie rather than for the sake of feminism and progression.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 5, 2024 4:32 AM |
It was beyond terrible.
Housing a murderer in the basement of a mental hospital?
The director of the mental hospital (a doctor) gets killed and a nurse starts running the place without the presence of a single doctor?
Someone wrote it on quaaludes.

. Sarah Paulson was fine, but Sophie Okonedo and Judy Davis owned this show and knew how to tap into the camp as well as the pathos.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 5, 2024 10:00 AM |
[quote]That's fine, Sarah Paulson can play Sarah Paulson on another show where they have a character that acts like Sarah Paulson
Bitchy comment I found on Reddit. She's milked Murphy's projects for far too long, people have her number now.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 5, 2024 10:15 AM |
The show was pretty far-fetched. I wouldn’t look for realistic plot points.

The lucky bastard.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 5, 2024 11:12 AM |
This show was beyond cheesy and embarrassing. Tacky, loud, pastiche paced like a cartoon, and full of ridiculous characters spouting bullshit dialogue.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 5, 2024 11:37 AM |
R14, this comment highlights why I loved it.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 5, 2024 5:45 PM |
Talk about a show without a reason to exist. What a POS.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 5, 2024 6:01 PM |
The weird thing was, they invested a lot in the premiere ep, directed by Ryan. Special effects and things.
The next ep, there was an obvious drop-off in look. They spent a lot less money.
I mean, typically they aspire to make the look of a show consistent throughout the run.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 5, 2024 6:11 PM |
I watched the entire season and the only thing I can remember is how awful Cynthia Nixon was.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 5, 2024 6:13 PM |
This guy may look like a total cliche but his analysis is better.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 5, 2024 6:20 PM |
Lispy Sarah needs to get a real job
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 5, 2024 6:22 PM |
The art direction was EXCELLENT.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 5, 2024 6:24 PM |
R20. Sarah is starring on Broadway in a hit play. She sends her love.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 5, 2024 6:25 PM |
Like most of Murphy's Netflix output, it was awful. Considering it was originally announced as a two season pick-up, it must have *really* tanked with viewers for them to not have even bothered with the second season. Even The Politician, which was also a dud, at least completed its initial two season deal.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 5, 2024 6:29 PM |
How does Sarah Paulson keep getting work? She’s dreadful. She’s always Sarah Paulson in heavy makeup. Who is she related to?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 5, 2024 7:03 PM |
She was too old, and miscast.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 5, 2024 7:11 PM |
I loved the motel overlooking the sea.

I like Sarah. and she is good at impressions.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 5, 2024 8:57 PM |
I liked it for that hot piece of ass that was in it. Hottest in a long time. Funny I can't remember his name.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 5, 2024 9:05 PM |
Couldn’t happy to a nicer person. Sarah is known as a cunt on Ryan Murphy projects by crew. Demanding bitch.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 5, 2024 9:46 PM |
I wish they wouldn't have gone so gothic and over-the-top for this show. Louise Fletcher's performance was all about restraint. She made you wonder what was really going on behind Ratched's mechanical affect.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 5, 2024 10:25 PM |
Finn Wittrock, Brandon Flynn or Charlie Carver?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 5, 2024 10:56 PM |
The character of Nurse Ratched changed every episode depending on what the story needed. It had the worst writing of any Ryan Murphy show, imo
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 6, 2024 5:48 AM |
Dahmer was his parting gift to Netflix, an apology for what came before, including Ratched.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 6, 2024 10:40 AM |
R34 That's a tall order. That's like picking the best sandwich at Arby's, or the sexiest widower at the dialysis center.
It's all been shit, particularly in the writing.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | February 6, 2024 4:36 PM |
Finn.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 6, 2024 5:15 PM |
All the earlier threads are closed so I will continue on this one. I am watching it now. I had forgotten I had already watched the opening scene with the killing of the priests.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | June 18, 2025 8:53 AM |
Ryan Murphy - Lavish set designs, second rate camp, softcore gay porn, excessive violence, stunt casting, numerous historical inaccuracies (who can forget Marilyn Monroe still being alive in 1963 in AHS: Double Feature - Death Valley?) and very little logic and decent writing. Successful hack is quite the oxymoron.

What's with the music sampling from Psycho, Cape fear, Vertigo and Mishima?

[quote]Sarah Paulson can play Sarah Paulson on another show where they have a character that acts like Sarah Paulson
As long as they don't put her in another show where she is supposed to be playing Cheno. Still trying to scrub that performance from my mind.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | June 18, 2025 12:13 PM |
Woah that was a shock exit for Sharon.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | June 18, 2025 12:56 PM |
It was announced last week that she was returning to AHS season 13. I don't know why she doesn't do any other TV projects.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | June 18, 2025 1:33 PM |
Finished it. That was better than I expected. I've never gotten through any of the American Horror Stories. I really liked the long scene between Sarah and Cynthia when Sarah confesses her lesbian love.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | June 18, 2025 2:43 PM |
It was one of the most poorly-written Ryan Murphy series I've seen.
