Jon Hamm IS William Holden!

This is brilliant casting, I’m shocked no one thought of it before

Will also star Christoph Waltz as Billy Wilder (both Austrians)

Will his enormous schlong be on parade?

by Anonymousreply 1February 2, 2024 11:33 AM

Came here to post the same thing, OP.

It really is perfect fucking casting.

Am I the only one who finds John Turturro extremely unattractive? You couldn't pay me to fuck him.

by Anonymousreply 3February 2, 2024 2:35 PM

yay another movie about movies.

by Anonymousreply 4February 2, 2024 2:36 PM

Turturro doesn't bother me. I don't want to marry him, but he doesn't repulse me. That would be Adam Driver. I tried watching that movie about the Guccis, but could not abide looking at him.

by Anonymousreply 5February 2, 2024 6:34 PM

Am I the only one who finds Maya Hawke unattractive? Nepo baby looks just like papa, and that weird off-kilter appeal does not translate well with two X chromosomes.

I’m not familiar with her work, but I found her tedious as Lenny’s daughter in ‘Maestro’.

by Anonymousreply 6February 2, 2024 6:54 PM

Maya Hawke looks like Linda Tripp.

by Anonymousreply 7February 2, 2024 9:16 PM

Maya inherited the worst physical attributes of both her parents.

by Anonymousreply 8February 2, 2024 9:32 PM

Among relatively well-known actors, he's a good choice.

But, he's no William Holden.

by Anonymousreply 9February 2, 2024 9:36 PM

I suppose the making of Fedora gives you Wilder and Holden but so would the making of Sunset Boulevard.

by Anonymousreply 10February 2, 2024 9:47 PM

Hollywood still pretending like Maya can act?

by Anonymousreply 11February 2, 2024 9:55 PM

Who's playing Marthe?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 12February 2, 2024 9:55 PM

She's no looker. Nepotism is alive and well and living its best life through all these no-talent Hollywood babies.

by Anonymousreply 13February 3, 2024 1:36 AM

She looks like Ethan if he had gone to Dartmouth and transed his sophomore year.

by Anonymousreply 14February 3, 2024 1:44 AM

There must be at least three people out there who want to see a movie about Billy Wilder.

by Anonymousreply 15February 3, 2024 2:13 AM

I tried to read the book this is based on but it stunk. Jonathan Coe can be a great writer but this was not one of his better efforts.

by Anonymousreply 16February 3, 2024 2:20 AM

Unfortunately, the way Hamm looks these days he might meet an unfortunate end like Holden -- hopefully not as messy.

by Anonymousreply 17February 3, 2024 2:51 AM

Another movie no one will see.

by Anonymousreply 18February 3, 2024 2:57 AM

Hamm should have no problem playing a alcoholic.

by Anonymousreply 19February 3, 2024 3:03 AM

I predict he'll actually pull a great performance out of his ass.

Not a huge Hamm fan, but i do think he has it in him.

I could be wrong.

by Anonymousreply 20February 3, 2024 3:06 AM

He’s box office poison. Is this a straight to Amazon Prime?

by Anonymousreply 21February 3, 2024 3:11 AM

Bill Holden was a sexy man, even towards the end of his life. I think Hamm is inspired casting for the role. I'm looking forward to seeing this movie when it's eventually released.

by Anonymousreply 22February 3, 2024 3:17 AM

William Holden was a very handsome guy for a lot of his life. He was also a blond/light brown (until he was older). Hamm seems on the swarthy, heavy-featured side and not handsome enough to play Holden.

by Anonymousreply 23February 3, 2024 3:24 AM

How much self-awareness and insight does Hamm have? How does an active alcoholic approach the role of a man who died from the disease without some reckoning about himself?

by Anonymousreply 24February 3, 2024 3:25 AM

R3, that photo doesn't do him justice. He is not someone who will likely catch your eye, but he is certainly not unattractive. He is also incredibly kind, gentle and humble.

by Anonymousreply 25February 3, 2024 3:26 AM

I met John Turturro a few years ago. He is magnetic in person.

by Anonymousreply 26February 3, 2024 3:32 AM

The fact that we're debating this shows that Hamm might actually be tailor-made for this role.

He's handsome and he's (or was) a drunk. So was Holden. And he's not a terribly actor as well.

Thought?

by Anonymousreply 27February 3, 2024 3:38 AM

I wonder if they will lighten Hamm's hair a bit, if not to Holden blonde than to a lighter brown. That could look great on him.

by Anonymousreply 28February 3, 2024 3:41 AM

John Turturro and Maya Hawke are terrible actors.

And there's not one fan of Fedora, even in a "so bad it's good" kind of way, so who exactly do they think the audience is for this?

by Anonymousreply 29February 3, 2024 3:42 AM

"Hamm seems on the swarthy, heavy-featured side and not handsome enough to play Holden."

Holden was no longer handsome when he did Fedora. In Network he looked about 70. He was still in his 50s

by Anonymousreply 30February 3, 2024 3:45 AM

ugh, i had many typos at r27.

*And he's not a terrible actor

*Thoughts?

Sorry for that.

by Anonymousreply 31February 3, 2024 3:47 AM

I had an urge to watch Fedora about a month ago. It's on YouTube. I saw it at college about a year after it came out, I think. I thought one the dumbest things about it was having Michael York play himself, as a character in the film. It would have worked much better if they had created a fictional film star with a different name and just had Michal York play him. Another thing was that both Marthe Keller and Hildegarde Knef seemed to have been dubbed. It was a weak story (and far fetched) to base a film on. Holden was good as usual, though. So was Jose Ferrer.

by Anonymousreply 32February 3, 2024 3:54 AM

The name for the star, "Fedora," is also silly.

by Anonymousreply 33February 3, 2024 3:56 AM

Well, it was 1/4 of a novel. They should have done a mini-series of Crowned Heads at the time.

by Anonymousreply 34February 3, 2024 3:57 AM

Actors either have it or they don't.

Mad Men made it because of him. I'm not a big fan of him, but he has IT. Anyone that thinks that's not true is deluded.

I'm not taking into account his personal stuff. Not even taking into account of his obvious big dick.

He has it. Despite his past transgressions.

by Anonymousreply 35February 3, 2024 3:57 AM

Blame Tryon.

(R35) Hi Jon. How’s your drink?

by Anonymousreply 37February 3, 2024 4:01 AM

Is Stefanie Powers a character in the film? They were in a LTR by then. I was a kid back in the late 70s/early 80s and watched Hart to Hart. I remember being creeped out that he was more than old enough to be her father.

by Anonymousreply 38February 3, 2024 4:03 AM

A movie about the making of "Fedora"? I smell a huge hit!

by Anonymousreply 39February 3, 2024 4:04 AM

(R35) Hamm does not have it. Crappy movies and commercials is all he does.

by Anonymousreply 40February 3, 2024 4:05 AM

The question on every Datalounger's lips should be: who will be playing Arlene Francis?

She has a cameo in "Fedora."

by Anonymousreply 41February 3, 2024 4:06 AM

[quote] ([R35]) Hamm does not have it. Crappy movies and commercials is all he does.

He just won quite a bit of acclaim for his performance in season 5 of "Fargo."

by Anonymousreply 42February 3, 2024 4:07 AM

r40 we'll see.

by Anonymousreply 43February 3, 2024 4:13 AM

I don't know if Hamm can pull off Holden, but I loved his James Mason (around 1:30)

I'd like to take a detailed account of his big dick.

by Anonymousreply 45February 3, 2024 4:17 AM

it looks gorgeous. let's be honest.

that's a ham i'd love to make a part of a breakfast sandwich every day.

by Anonymousreply 46February 3, 2024 4:22 AM

Who’s playing Lucy?

by Anonymousreply 47February 3, 2024 4:27 AM

R36 It wasn't a famous title or character so they didn't need to keep it for the movie.
