So she either died of liver failure or the like.....or suicide.

R24, reports said she "died suddenly." Liver failure is a slower demise.

When things get vague it's usually suicide.

Even today there is still a stigma for those still living.

Whatever this turns out to be, I hope her parents can cope.

The suddenly makes me think it could have been something as simple as obstructive sleep apnea. That almost always goes hand in hand with being overweight plus a heavy drinker.

Erika obviously loved her family very much, I hope she has a lot of support around her.

I found Amanda's Facebook- she struck me as a little sad and aimless. Totally pro gay, raised a little blind dog who she loved.

She seems like a very normal girl who just had rich parents. But there is a sadness there.

Erika, without any hesitation admitted that they bought Amanda a condo in Killington- Both children also lived with them in New Canaan.

These are 2 very "spoiled "children in the sense their parents have taken care of them their entire lives and neither really has a career. I sense Erika and Bryan adore their children- like the type of parents who do everything for their kids- and I think this is going to be rough.

I have a few ties to VT- I want to link Erika's "2nd house" in Mt Holly VT that they they sold 2 years ago. Its absolutely stunning.

That’s something Erika was on that show over 42 years. Soap opera actors and actresses are some of the most prolific entertainers, I mean you don’t see them in new material once a week but practically everyday for most of the year with new material.

She got a lot great stories but she has all those Emmys because she was great at picking tapes. The year with the heart transplant story not only did she use two great tapes but she was just as good in Kassie DePaiva's tape which many thought would win. When Blair falsely accused Todd of rape "Oh my God Viki what have I done?" She was amazing but Slezak was excellent in the tape and basically had three in that contest.

And yes, I totally agree--like I mentioned in that great thread that expired- Erika won in 1992 over Tuck because Erika was wise enough to submit the hospital scenes.

I suspect it was not pretty and not sleep apnea. I followed her on Facebook and she just seemed very lonely to me.

Erika is clearly heartbroken. I hope that she finds some joy in life again.

I noticed in her interview on that great Cancer Benefit that when asked about Viki singing I will survive, that Erika got very choked up and said it was Viki's way of stating, no matter what she will get through this-- I am not giving the moment justice, but you can tell that Erika is going through some serious shit and that this really has tested her faith.

I don't remember Jones subbing for Erika but it had to be weird since Jones looked at least 20 years younger than Erika.

R38 Slezak won the year of the 8 nominees. At the time I think it was expected Grahn or DePaiva would win but Daytime Emmys notoriously had weird repetitive wins when other nominees had driven much more story that year.

DePaiva's tape was amazing in 2005 but Slezak was also so good in the episode it put the heart transplant tapes over the top. Viki learning she was getting Ben's heart was made for Emmys.

Sloan's death tape with the molestation reveal in 1994 tape where she breaks into like 3 multiples in a few minutes wasn't going to lose. I think it was Peter Bergman who was on the panel that said he was all ready to vote for Leslie Charleston but the room went silent after the tape with Robin Strasser on the reveal. He said it simply blew his mind and had to vote for her again
