How tall are you?

I'm five foot nine which is average I guess, but my brother's six foot three and my dad's six four and I've always been a little eyerolly about it. I was robbed! I always wonder what people's vantage point is, those who are well above six feet tall. A little minor and stupid thing, but something I think about nonetheless.

by Anonymousreply 67April 30, 2024 6:02 PM

Fascinating

by Anonymousreply 1January 21, 2024 8:41 PM

I'm 6'2. I won't lie, I love being tall. It confers an authority in everyday situations.

by Anonymousreply 2January 21, 2024 8:42 PM

Tall guys are expected to Top even when they are total bottoms. Just the way it is.

by Anonymousreply 3January 21, 2024 8:48 PM

I’m 6’ 3” love it.

by Anonymousreply 4January 21, 2024 8:52 PM

I'm 6'4. It has its advantages - I have a deep voice and can be imposing when I need to be - but I have no idea what's on the lower shelves at the grocery store.

by Anonymousreply 5January 21, 2024 8:52 PM

I am 5 foot 9 inches and the shortest person in my family by quite a lot. I never saw myself as tall because I was the midget growing up.

by Anonymousreply 6January 21, 2024 8:54 PM

I'm 6'2 and a half but I tell everyone I'm 6'3 of course. Maybe I would be 6'3 if my posture wasn't so bad.

by Anonymousreply 7January 21, 2024 9:05 PM

R5 get good at doing a slav squat, it helps me at the grocery store a lot

by Anonymousreply 8January 21, 2024 9:05 PM

Yes but which of you has the bigger cock? That’s what the DL really wants to know!

by Anonymousreply 9January 21, 2024 9:06 PM

Generally an inch shorter than I claim to be.

by Anonymousreply 10January 21, 2024 9:13 PM

Wait until you start shrinking with age.

My mother used to be 5'4". Now, at 88 years old she's about 4'11".

by Anonymousreply 11January 21, 2024 9:17 PM

I've already lost an inch, R11. I used to flirt with five ten, but alas...

by Anonymousreply 12January 21, 2024 9:18 PM

How old are you, OP, that you’ve lost an inch in height?

by Anonymousreply 13January 21, 2024 9:20 PM

50, R13.

by Anonymousreply 14January 21, 2024 9:22 PM

Boytoy and me used to both be 6'2". Now we are 6'0".

I'm 81. Guess you shrink as you get old.

by Anonymousreply 15January 21, 2024 9:25 PM

Noneya. I don't put PII (personally identifiable information) on DL with all the clearly disturbed people here (and their sock puppet accounts).

by Anonymousreply 16January 21, 2024 9:30 PM

I hit 5’10” as a freshman in HS and was 6’ by the time I graduated. My older brothers are 6’2” and 6’3”. My dad was also 6’ but now he comes just under my nose.

My boyfriend is 5’9” and I generally don’t see him as short except sometimes in photos with my family. My mom and sisters are tall, all of my nieces and nephews are tall except one nephew who topped out at 5’9” and his sister who is 5’.

by Anonymousreply 17January 21, 2024 9:35 PM

I'm 5'4 1/2" tall. My father was 6' and my brother is 6'1". I never gave a fuck about it because I was the apple of my mother and my grandparent's eyes, and my brother wasn't.

by Anonymousreply 18January 21, 2024 9:35 PM

ok, matteo.

by Anonymousreply 19January 21, 2024 9:46 PM

5'6", shorter than my two brothers. Quite annoying.

by Anonymousreply 20January 21, 2024 9:49 PM

You were robbed? When/where?

by Anonymousreply 21January 21, 2024 9:51 PM

My sister is 6’ tall.

by Anonymousreply 22January 21, 2024 9:52 PM

Hi, I’m OP!

by Anonymousreply 23January 21, 2024 9:52 PM

5'6" means that I'm a midget in Canada. People look down on me all the time.

by Anonymousreply 24January 21, 2024 9:53 PM

I hit 6’ as a fetus. I’m currently 7’4” as a 42 yr old hot ass

by Anonymousreply 25January 21, 2024 9:56 PM

[quote] I have no idea what's on the lower shelves at the grocery store.

Mostly house brands. You're not missing much.

by Anonymousreply 26January 21, 2024 9:56 PM

5' 7.25" the last time I measured myself ages ago.

Both of my parents were under 5'9" & I have a sister who is the tallest in the family but no one is over 5"10".

by Anonymousreply 27January 21, 2024 10:04 PM

I heard a tall guy talking on the radio. He said it was gross seeing all the dust and dirt on the upper shelves in stores.

by Anonymousreply 28January 21, 2024 10:07 PM

I'm 6' 1".

I don't feel tall and don't notice height in others unless they're under 5'4" or so. Because all I see is the tops of their heads.

by Anonymousreply 29January 21, 2024 11:21 PM

I was told that a man's ultimate height, is like Davinci's Vitruvuan Man and is measured from fingertip to fingertip. By that measurement I should have been 6' 2". I was fat during puberty and I believe I stunted my growth as I maxed out at 5'10".

My dress shirts are an unusual 16n, 37"sleeve.

by Anonymousreply 30January 21, 2024 11:31 PM

I'm right at 6'. I have brothers who are twins and one is 6'2" and the other is like 5'10" (they were fraternal, obviously...) My hubby is 6'1" and our son is 10-years-old and he's already 5'4". He's going to be a TALL one (all my nephews are over 6')

by Anonymousreply 31January 22, 2024 12:29 AM

They have done studies that basically prove the taller you are, the more chances in life you get and the better people opinions of you are. Most CEO's for example are over 6' tall. It's rare to see a short stout CEO of a big company unless it was actually started by the same guy which is rare these days.

by Anonymousreply 32January 22, 2024 12:45 AM

I'm not overweight -- I'm undertall!

by Anonymousreply 33January 22, 2024 12:54 AM

Taller people have a lower life expectancy. Take that, jerks.

by Anonymousreply 34January 22, 2024 12:56 AM

My dad and siblings are all 5’10, 5’11. Although my sister married a guy that’s 5’8 and now she’s 5’8. My mom and I are 5’2 on a good day.

by Anonymousreply 35January 22, 2024 2:18 AM

I was 6'3" at 20. Starting to shrink after 55.

by Anonymousreply 36April 26, 2024 5:36 PM

Short people got no reason to live.

by Anonymousreply 37April 26, 2024 5:42 PM

I'm 6'9", which feels fine except when I'm standing next to someone whose mouth is at my crotch level.

I don't like a tease.

by Anonymousreply 38April 26, 2024 5:51 PM

6'4" and I think it is too tall - not thrilled with it.

Buying clothes are an issues (especially shirts) and I look like Godzilla in pics with friends.

I'm thin, runner's build so looks more dramatic.

by Anonymousreply 39April 26, 2024 5:53 PM

Shorter AND hairier, OP?

by Anonymousreply 40April 26, 2024 5:53 PM

I'm 6'3" and do enjoy it. My whole family is freakishly tall (my parents have since shrunk some). I'm lucky that I'm a top because I'd be fucked if I were a bottom (or rather, not fucked).

by Anonymousreply 41April 26, 2024 5:54 PM

6 ft., same as my dad and my brothers. But my dad has a 6'3" sister and 6'9" brother. He's the runt of the family.

by Anonymousreply 42April 26, 2024 5:56 PM

I'm 6 feet tall. My dad hit 5'11" before he started shrinking a bit (he's 70). My mom is 5'4", but my sister is 5'7". Funny how that works out.

by Anonymousreply 43April 26, 2024 6:05 PM

When someone says "How tall are you?" I invariably answer, "How short are you?"

Except with the sensitive, forthcoming OP.

As a kid I was convinced that 5'11 was the perfect height and that I would change my name to "Alexander Redd" when I reached it.

by Anonymousreply 44April 26, 2024 6:06 PM

Had no idea old age shrinkage was that severe

by Anonymousreply 45April 26, 2024 6:22 PM

175 cm

by Anonymousreply 46April 26, 2024 6:44 PM

I'm 5'2" but look 6'3".

Actually, 5'11". I'm the tallest in my family. I do wish I were 6' 2 or 3, though I feel 5'11" is ok.

Do you short guys all gave big dicks?

by Anonymousreply 47April 26, 2024 6:57 PM

I'm 5'8", female which is tallish but not tall-tall for a woman.

by Anonymousreply 48April 26, 2024 7:03 PM

I was 6' 2.5" when I was younger; now I'm in my fifties and I'm an inch shorter.

by Anonymousreply 49April 26, 2024 7:09 PM

I’m 6’2”. My dad was 6’ at his peak and my mom was around 5’8”. My younger brother is a solid three inches taller than I am.

by Anonymousreply 50April 26, 2024 7:17 PM

I've been shrinking. I started out at 5'10" but now am 5'8 and one-half.

by Anonymousreply 52April 26, 2024 9:32 PM

I'm 5'8". I hit my growth spurt and shot up early. Then I stopped. I'm from a family of tall men.

by Anonymousreply 53April 26, 2024 10:04 PM

I never give it any thought and don't take notice unless someone is quite significantly taller or shorter, say at least fully a head taller or shorter. I never understood people who have very specific height requirements for dating or fucking or friends. I'm tall average, or toward the bottom end of tall, but a couple inches above average (US) height.

by Anonymousreply 54April 26, 2024 10:07 PM

Tall enough to beat your ass

by Anonymousreply 55April 26, 2024 10:50 PM

I’m 67 & I haven’t started shrinking. Another reason to stay thin.

by Anonymousreply 56April 26, 2024 11:02 PM

I'm a tall 6'1". That means I have good posture.

by Anonymousreply 57April 26, 2024 11:08 PM

I am freakishly tall. 6 9"

by Anonymousreply 58April 26, 2024 11:44 PM

I am 6'6" and my older brother is 6'8"

Pants have always been hard to fit. In college I wore 32x38 pants, which meant I had to buy unhemmed pants and have them altered. Now I wear a 36x38, which are not easy to find, but not impossible either. Suits are a royal PITA though. I wear a 62L jacket, but that means the suited pants are well over 50" in the waist. No amount of tailoring can make them work.

I hated being taller than normal until my 30s when I realized that some guys like taller guys. I had always gone for guys around my size because I was wary of huge differences in size; it was very limiting. Whoever said above that tall guys are expected to be tops is right. Always, always, always. Until I started dating a 5'4" guy who is one of those lanky otter types with a sizeable dick. He convinced me that he could top me without (much) pain, and he did. Sex with him remains as some of the best I have ever had.

by Anonymousreply 59April 27, 2024 12:07 AM

My sister's husband had surgery and the surgeon nicked a lymph vessel without noticing. Somehow the leakage and subsequent damage to his body in a complicated way caused him to shrink from 6'2" to 5'6". A nightmare for them. He's still alive but she drank herself to death.

by Anonymousreply 60April 27, 2024 1:29 AM

5'1'. I'm a woman.

by Anonymousreply 61April 27, 2024 1:30 AM

i'm SUPER tall

by Anonymousreply 62April 27, 2024 1:44 AM

I'm 66 yrs old. I was 6'4", now down to 6'1" if my posture is good, Arthritis. My father was 5'10", my mom 5'9", both my brothers are about 6'. My 2 sisters are around 5'2" but they inherited the blue eyes and blonde hair. One of them has been quite overweight most of her life but her daughter is 5'11 and must weigh close to 300lbs.

by Anonymousreply 63April 27, 2024 2:59 AM

R41, that would be me!

by Anonymousreply 64April 30, 2024 4:48 PM

Op, how old are you??

by Anonymousreply 65April 30, 2024 4:50 PM

5’7” and that’s fine.

by Anonymousreply 66April 30, 2024 4:52 PM

This tall
