3. Paste the link

4. Voila!

by Anonymousreply 1January 26, 2024 4:09 PM

It worked! Thank you young person!

by Anonymousreply 2January 26, 2024 4:20 PM

It works with some links. Not all of them.

by Anonymousreply 3January 26, 2024 6:31 PM

Can you also explain how to use that damn Versateller?

by Anonymousreply 4January 26, 2024 6:36 PM

But how do I get free soup?

by Anonymousreply 6February 29, 2024 8:48 PM

I got into the Strategic Air Command!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 7February 29, 2024 8:49 PM

I actually just go to the webpage in my regular browser (Safari on macOS) and then click "View in Reader" which is part of the browser. It'll then give me the article I want without issues.

by Anonymousreply 8February 29, 2024 8:52 PM

OP, I will never remember those instructions.

by Anonymousreply 9February 29, 2024 8:52 PM

R9, bookmark this post.

If archive.ph isn't available, archive.is works too.

by Anonymousreply 10February 29, 2024 8:54 PM

R10 thank you! I have saved this thread!

by Anonymousreply 11February 29, 2024 8:57 PM

I've been using archive.ph since the first post and it works fantastically well. Thanks OP!

by Anonymousreply 12March 3, 2024 5:14 AM

Cheap whores rejoice! Thank you OP.

by Anonymousreply 13March 3, 2024 5:45 AM

Thanks for the community service OP! Very much needed thread.

I was thinking of doing one about posting image links.

by Anonymousreply 14March 3, 2024 5:50 AM

Oh Youngay Brethren, Can you help me with Spotify?? I hit the + to add it to my deal & then dont see it anywhere in my feed...... Then trying to link to the Sonos??? I feel like my 83 year old mother when she calls me asking why the printer "just wont print, I need a new printer".

How much do I need to pay? I can I do this with an auto-withdraw?

by Anonymousreply 17March 15, 2024 3:28 AM

I can go to an archiv.ph page where someone else has already posted an article, but neither of my devices will let me go to the basic page.

Security concerns. Have turned off the ad-blocker and tried going incognito...no luck.

by Anonymousreply 18March 19, 2024 9:38 AM

R15 I'm tech support for my mum who's in her 70s. She can use her phone and iPad for most things but she'll often find certain aspects of it too hard to use and will constantly ask me the same questions. I feel your pain...

by Anonymousreply 19March 19, 2024 9:44 AM

Some useful information in this thread.

by Anonymousreply 20March 19, 2024 9:44 AM

R18 here, I can't even use archive.org to access an old Washington Post article.

Fuck.

by Anonymousreply 21March 19, 2024 9:57 AM

Can someone explain how to make giphy links work again? I miss them.

by Anonymousreply 22March 19, 2024 10:25 AM

Go to GitHub and download Bypass Paywalls. Add to Chrome in Windows or Kiwi browser in Android.

If you have a Mac or iPhone, reconsider your shitty life choices.

by Anonymousreply 23March 19, 2024 10:42 AM

Here's the link to bypass paywalls.

by Anonymousreply 24March 19, 2024 10:48 AM

OP, do you happen to know how to bypass state restrictions on a website?

by Anonymousreply 25March 19, 2024 11:34 AM

99% of the shit posted doesn't deserve any effort. If I click on the link and can't read it, I'm out. The wit level must be extremely high to exert any real effort.

by Anonymousreply 26March 19, 2024 11:38 AM

^ Seriously? You're so offended by a paywall that you won't read it instead of archiving it?

Didn't you ever sneak into a movie?

by Anonymousreply 27March 19, 2024 11:45 AM

r27 Who on earth said I was offended? Lazy and unmotivated would be more accurate.

by Anonymousreply 28March 19, 2024 11:48 AM

r25, you need a VPN. I recommend private internet access.

by Anonymousreply 29March 19, 2024 11:54 AM

You could also try this free, open source vpn.

by Anonymousreply 33May 11, 2024 12:19 AM

If you use Firefox it has an extension that you can add

by Anonymousreply 34May 11, 2024 12:54 AM

R34, I only use Firefox for my porn sites. Which extension lets me view OFs for free?

by Anonymousreply 35May 11, 2024 1:04 AM

R34 r35

by Anonymousreply 36May 11, 2024 1:34 AM

Thanks, OP!

How do you “copy” something?

by Anonymousreply 37May 11, 2024 7:24 AM

You click on the address and hit copy.

by Anonymousreply 38May 11, 2024 7:47 PM

What's the Firefox extension?

by Anonymousreply 39May 11, 2024 7:48 PM

What is a Firefox? Will it bite me?

by Anonymousreply 40May 11, 2024 10:14 PM

by Anonymousreply 41July 12, 2024 7:27 AM

12ftladder is no more. I was able to read quite a few articles before the creator shut it down.

Reader only lets me read part of an article sometimes.

by Anonymousreply 42July 12, 2024 7:54 AM

R31, archive . ph is not dead.

I use it specifically to get around the NYT (who I can't stand these days) and the Wall Street Journal (whom I've always hated). Suck it, Wall Street Journal!

by Anonymousreply 43July 12, 2024 8:11 AM

The only time .oh does it work for me is when an article is fairly new.

by Anonymousreply 44July 12, 2024 8:31 AM

will it work on my typewriter?

by Anonymousreply 45July 12, 2024 10:17 AM

by Anonymousreply 46July 12, 2024 10:38 AM

by Anonymousreply 47July 12, 2024 10:41 AM

Not everyone can afford it,. Subscription should be a encouraged for those who do, and subscription is not the only source of revenue. The social platforms and ads chip in.

It's not just eldergays who need guidance.

The younger generations seem unable to master the obscure tool called "Google" so will come to the DL and ask a question that they could easily and already have asked and answered by typing the same question into "Google". Or they'll type "I'm too lazy to look it up" by which time they could have looked it up with fewer key strokes.

Why is this? Do you need an audience? If a millennial entered a question into Google in the woods, did it happen?

by Anonymousreply 51September 29, 2024 10:26 PM

Your overthinking this says a lot, r51.

by Anonymousreply 52September 30, 2024 3:27 AM

Thanks R52 - your response makes absolutely no sense, which says everything.

by Anonymousreply 53September 30, 2024 4:02 AM

It wouldn't make sense to people who don't know how to write to a target audience, but I can write you a post on how to do that if you need it. 😘❤️

by Anonymousreply 54September 30, 2024 4:14 AM

All good R54!

by Anonymousreply 55September 30, 2024 4:27 AM

Thank you OP, I was just thinking about this the other day. I was meaning to ask someone who posted a link but then I forgot all about it. I have taken a screenshot of the instructions.
