A new short film will debut at Sundance.

Looks like Marla Gibbs to me.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | January 17, 2024 5:44 PM |
And soon, the follow up short film - "Richard Simmons is Pauly Shore."
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 17, 2024 5:54 PM |
There was no money left for wigs after they blew their budget on bedazzled tank tops and short shorts.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 17, 2024 6:11 PM |
That wig is awful. Richard would never!!
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 17, 2024 6:15 PM |
How dreadful.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 17, 2024 6:16 PM |
I Love Pauly!
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 17, 2024 6:26 PM |
Wait. So is this a serious film? One of those "goofball actor surprises critics with serious performance" vehicles? One of those "we never knew he had it in him/her" movies?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 17, 2024 6:29 PM |
I could it not be titled "Sweatin' To The Oldies" or some play on that?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 17, 2024 6:34 PM |
I love Pauly, I love Richard. This makes me so happy!
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 17, 2024 6:44 PM |
Will it be better than Encino Man?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 17, 2024 6:46 PM |
Pauly has always seemed like a nice guy. Richard is a genuinely caring man who wants to help people get healthy. It's about time a movie was made.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | January 17, 2024 6:47 PM |
Sundance?? This looks like a straight to Tubi type of movie
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 17, 2024 7:02 PM |
He's no Danny Kaye!
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 17, 2024 7:06 PM |
Pauly Shore’s dramatic turn? Do I hear Oscar buzz?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | January 17, 2024 7:06 PM |
If G can get nominated again & again, there's still hope for Pauly!
by Anonymous | reply 16 | January 17, 2024 7:12 PM |
I’ve seen enough
by Anonymous | reply 17 | January 17, 2024 7:13 PM |
Damn, I guess RS is not cool with this. Too bad. He was such a huge part of the cultural landscape in the 80s, I want people to know him but not like this if he is against it.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | January 17, 2024 8:05 PM |
Simmons ain't too happy. I wonder if Oprah can get involved and turn this into a mega-musical ? Maybe Whoopi can star as Simmons ?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 18, 2024 9:04 PM |
Is this movie going ahead or not?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | January 18, 2024 9:09 PM |
Simple Jack vibes
by Anonymous | reply 22 | January 18, 2024 9:10 PM |
This might just work
by Anonymous | reply 23 | January 18, 2024 9:17 PM |
Well,I read in The Enquirer that Simmons pilfered his fortune away inviting muscle men dressed like cops to raid his mansion where they would accost Richard who would be waiting for them dressed up as a baby girl. He would plead with them not to beat his butt raw, which of course they did. I’ll endure the biopic if Pauly is brave enough to portray how Richard Simmons was spanked and spanked and spanked….

Hard Pass

Someone has stolen my fantasy!
by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 18, 2024 9:41 PM |
That looks craptacular. I thought he was dead already.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | January 18, 2024 9:53 PM |
This is pure shit
by Anonymous | reply 28 | January 18, 2024 9:55 PM |
For awhile there, Simmons was quite active on Facebook posting pics of himself in drag, and then one day he just quit any and all posts altogether.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | January 18, 2024 9:59 PM |
R29, Richard Simmons has secretly been DL's own Momma's Mussy this entire time.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 18, 2024 10:01 PM |
He was very rich. And very insecure. Now he's a recluse. Do we deserve an explanation? No. But cmon. He's nowhere close to "happy".
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 18, 2024 10:02 PM |
I feel really bad for throwing that paper airplane at him in 1989.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 18, 2024 11:57 PM |
^^^ actually, they should give me a cameo. My paper airplane harassment could signal the turning point where Richard has second guesses about celebrity.
Article says they looking for a screenwriter….

Opening Credit: "This Film Was Not Authorized By Richard Simmons."

R31, I've shared this before. I worked for a production company and had to drive him to an event. I picked him up at the studio. He was very sweet, kind and super shy. He didn't say a word when I drove. We arrived at the event and he got out and was suddenly Richard Simmons. Screaming, wide eyed and super animated. I thought he was saving all his energy to be Richard Simmons for the public and felt really sorry for him because it had to be exhausting. I think he's happy being out of the public eye.

Oh, dear.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | January 19, 2024 3:38 AM |
The short film nobody asked for …
by Anonymous | reply 38 | January 19, 2024 3:46 AM |
R38, I'd watch it!
by Anonymous | reply 39 | January 19, 2024 3:48 AM |
I would like Richard's surprising and triumphant comeback to be playing Norma, when they finally make the "Sunset Boulevard" movie musical.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | January 19, 2024 3:52 AM |
Here's the short film. The woman they cast as Ellen is even more bizarre than Pauly as Richard.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | January 20, 2024 7:44 PM |
It’s ugly
by Anonymous | reply 42 | January 20, 2024 7:51 PM |
They’re both ugly
by Anonymous | reply 43 | January 20, 2024 7:57 PM |
I thought it was sweet and Pauly did a good Richard. I guess I'll have to hand in my gay card.

You're on the DL. Should be: "I have sufficient."
by Anonymous | reply 45 | January 20, 2024 9:06 PM |
Perfect casting and I hate Pauly Shore. He's creepy.
There is potential for a good telling of a story. You may opine that Richard Simmons' life is not worthy of a movie bio. However, that doesn't equate to a boring movie.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | January 20, 2024 9:08 PM |
This could have been Felix Fox's breakthrough role.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | January 20, 2024 10:09 PM |
Apparently Richard does not sanction Pauli's buffoonery.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | January 22, 2024 1:44 AM |
Unpopular opinion, but I thought Pauly really nailed it. Captured Richard's essence. That wig, though... And that bizarre FauxEllen...
by Anonymous | reply 50 | January 22, 2024 2:02 AM |
R49 Yes, I mentioned that at R18. Too bad, I love RS and Pauly.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | January 22, 2024 2:03 AM |
Spud-nosed Pauly doesn't even come close to looking like Richard. Geezus PETE!
by Anonymous | reply 52 | January 22, 2024 3:29 PM |
[quote]Pauly Shore IS Richard Simmons
...in so many ways.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | January 22, 2024 3:56 PM |
Oh, here come the tired old gay rumors about the guy who was absolutely obsessed with a female porn star. If Shore were in the closet, R53, I'm guessing a bio-pic of freakin' RICHARD SIMMONS would not be high on his list.
