This looks like it could be great or absolutely terrible.
A very complex and difficult and unique person to try and portray. Will be interested to see it when it comes out.

Hmm. Not enthused but maybe.

Will this be a Lifetime Movie Premiere?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | January 11, 2024 5:10 PM |
Looks bad. She’s too pretty to play Amy. Not gaunt enough.

Amy's voice was one of those once-in-a-lifetime kind of first listens where you knew she was exceptional immediately - and Back To Black as an album is still an awe inspiring listen. Her tone and phrasing are genius. But it is such a tricky tale to tell without devolving into tawdry melodrama with hammy performances, so i reserve judgement until i see it.

She was such a talent, much more talented than any of her peers. What a shame.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 11, 2024 5:55 PM |
The documentary is more than enough and told you everything you wanted to know. This was an illiterate chav with a good voice who had a death wish.
There, I saved you two hours.

She was a total Brit but take her out of that makeup and she looked like a Rachel from Long Island.

The film is written by Matt Greenhalgh who did a great job with musical biopics Control (Ian Curtis) and Nowhere Boy (John Lennon), and it's directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson who directed the latter.
Amy was hilarious -when she was promoting the Frank album the Sunday morning tv show Popworld was famous for their batshit interviews and Jewish presenter Simon Amstell had Amy throw bread rolls at a billboard promoting Dido.

There are two or three documentaries. It completely escapes my why anyone would want to see a dramatization when the majority of the potential audience is old enough to remember her alive. It's all hairdos and makeup and costumes and mannerisms, the result is mimicry.
The story is so well known.
Spend 50 minutes watching "Amy Winehouse – The Day She Came To Dingle." It will be 100x more rewarding as a look at the woman and a listen to her music at absolute peak. See it again even if you've already seen it.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 11, 2024 9:57 PM |
Her life was just so dark. That’s why I wouldn’t want to see it.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 11, 2024 10:45 PM |
I wonder if Chelsea Handler has any regrets about the daily roasting of Amy Winehouse on her E! show. I watched her every night but the incessant Amy mockery was cring even when she was alive.

Way too soon for it. Would be better off coming out in a few decades when everyone isn't so familiar with her story.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 11, 2024 11:12 PM |
R3 I was thinking she wasn’t pretty enough to play Amy before she got all fucked is on drugs.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 11, 2024 11:15 PM |
I remember them taking her blanket covered corpse out on the stretcher, and it literally looked empty.

Pass

Who is playing Blake Incarcerated?

Looks like shit and I refuse to support that creepy pedo-ish bitch directing.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 9, 2024 2:11 PM |
This looks like a Lifetime movie but her life was more Requiem for a Dream.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 9, 2024 2:12 PM |
My only question is: who will play her BFF, the grieving, selfless, hard-of-breath Kelly Osbourne?

She died in 2011 at age 27. I don't think it's too soon. If you wait too long, the main people who would be interested will be dead.

They cut hottie Mark Ronson from the film.
He’s the one who distilled Amy’s raw talent into a gorgeous (though veeeerrrry pastiche) masterpiece of an album.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | April 9, 2024 4:34 PM |
I would guess Amy's father is the one behind this. That's how they are able to use her original recordings. But I wonder if the story has been slanted to make her look more like a victim to big bad Blake.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 9, 2024 5:05 PM |
Is this ONLY on Lifetime?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 9, 2024 5:29 PM |
A lot of these bipocs are rubbish. I prefer documentaries, otherwise it is just distracting to watch an actor try to ape someone else's mannerisms for 2 hours. This one looks cheap, too.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 9, 2024 6:36 PM |
R28, too many of these movies are too easy on their subjects.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | April 9, 2024 6:39 PM |
This actress is too pretty.

Hard pass. To this entire project.
Leave this sick woman’s corpse to rest in peace.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | April 9, 2024 9:14 PM |
She's probably too old, but I think Lady Gaga could have played Amy.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 9, 2024 9:38 PM |
The R5 documentary is pretty devastating. When I saw it the biggest laugh from the audience came when Blake said I'm a good looking fella. He with his jacked teefs.

I love Jack O'Connell. Keep forgetting he's in it.

marisa was refreshing.
accent and sense of humor were worth watching.
looks like she nailed most of the guitar parts.
amy jazzy six-string skills were better than her hair

I’m happy they used an unknown (I’ve never heard of her anyway) instead of Michelle Williams or Joey King or some other overhyped actress that Hollywood is enamored with. Nicole Kidman probably considers herself too young looking for the role…

And presented as too neat. Amy was a mess.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | June 2, 2025 6:50 AM |
Sam Buchanan who plays Nick Shymansky is also too hot for his real-life counterpart. I had to laugh when Amy says he is not her type.
