I think Merrick Garland is a good, good man. I believe he loves this country with all his heart. I believe he is a brilliant legal eagle. I believe his professionalism is at tge highest level of excellence. He is a good and decent human being. I think he is incredibly respected by much of the DOJ, and I am certain he has outstanding leadership skills.
Having said all that, I’m not yet convinced that he is the right man to meet this moment in our country. There are many different ways to lead, and part of me wants/needs to see a more proactive response. I think his avoidance is making the DOJ look like weak sauce. I DO understand that he is trying to quell violence by doing all he can to show Trump voters that the DOJ is “fair” — the more “fair” it goes down for Trump, the less likely there will be more violence is his thinking. I’m sure he’s doing all he can to stop any notion that the DOJ is not picking on MAGATS. But I think that’s a flawed strategy in dealing with these people, and in his resistance to any form of aggression/confrontation toward threats by people such as RS, he is in fact now doing more harm to the DOJ and damaging our faith in their ability to enforce the law with these pricks.
Anyone with eyeballs ***knows*** that if anyone else did this, they would be arrested. So Garland’s strategy is damaging the reputation of the DOJ , and it is actually disenfranchising to those who are paying attention. These fuckers are allowed to do this because they are rich, powerful, white men. Those of you who don’t believe we have two systems of justice? Look no further than the “kid glove” treatment of Roger Stone, who can threaten murder with ZERO inquiry from a single soul in law enforcement. There it is, right is your face if you doubted how broken our systems are.
Can any random citizen call the police on Roger Stone, or can someone/anyone bring a civil lawsuit? Why isn’t Swalwell filing a criminal complaint? Shouldn’t the people being threatened be demanding that LEO open an investigation? It seems to me the Congress people being threatened need to report this. Why aren’t they?!?!?
And the most infuriating part of all. If the DOJ or literally ANY law enforcement agency would investigate these threats, I actually think Roger would STFU more because he doesn’t want the hassle of another trial, it’s too expensive and stressful, and the odds of getting pardoned twice, you have to be a true gambling man to keep making threats. They are making the government look weak which will only embolden them even more. But I’m not a lawyer, I am sure for this type of threat, the investigation could occur with either a state or even local LE agency. Yet none of them investigate this? I call bullshit. A citizen who lives near Roger Stone should report that they feel threatened by this man because he is violent and unpredictable, he makes their neighborhood feel dangerous, so report him.
“The buck stops here”, Merrick Garland owns this mess. He is a good man, but he’s not doing a great job of hiding that behind the curtain, rich people break laws every fucking day in this country, they do it with impunity, and we would never get the same treatment. Merrick, pull your fucking fly up bro! They’re making you look like a weak dick, so do something, goddamn it!
