New York Times runs opinion piece asking if Taylor Swift is a lesbian

Tee hee.

I wanted to post the article content, but it was WAY WAY WAY too long.

See, Taylor?

Play with fire, and eventually you're going to get burned!

(Sane) People are tired of her shit.

There have always been rumors…

by Anonymousreply 1January 7, 2024 8:23 AM

The same NYT that declared Beyoncé a Religion. This is getting so silly.

by Anonymousreply 2January 7, 2024 9:15 AM

NYT is partisan bias trash and they hate that Taylor is pro Biden. The good news is, her fan base has no intention of ever reading the NYT. Most have never even heard of it.

by Anonymousreply 3January 7, 2024 9:36 AM

As unappealing as is her personalty I really can't care whether Taylor is a lesbian or otherwise. She just doesn't interest me.

by Anonymousreply 4January 7, 2024 10:42 AM

That article is endless.

by Anonymousreply 5January 7, 2024 10:53 AM

Who cares?

It's none of our business.

by Anonymousreply 6January 7, 2024 11:40 AM

[quote]in our language — that she has some affinity for queer identity.

The author is probably a heterosexual woman.

by Anonymousreply 7January 7, 2024 11:42 AM

A straight woman who might eat pussy?

Shocking. Absolutely shocking.

by Anonymousreply 8January 7, 2024 11:46 AM

How is this journalism?

by Anonymousreply 9January 7, 2024 12:00 PM

It’s not. It’s an opinion piece. That’s why it says Opinion at the top, and the author is identified as an opinion writer.

by Anonymousreply 10January 7, 2024 12:54 PM

I don’t care about her sexuality. What does bug me is when her obviously fake relationship with Travis Kelce is one of the lead stories on mainstream news. News outlets are struggling for credibility already, so for them to push out this PR stuff doesn’t help their credibility.

by Anonymousreply 11January 7, 2024 3:37 PM

I wouldn't know a Taylor Swift song if I heard it but her sex life is her business.

by Anonymousreply 12January 7, 2024 4:13 PM

"Tee hee"

by Anonymousreply 13January 7, 2024 4:15 PM

This woman is not my favorite, with that being said she still deserves her privacy whether she's gay , bi or any of the multiple new designations of sexuality bestowed upon us by the woke crowd.

Dataloungers think her and Travis are bearding each other. Something tells me that they are both 100% straight however are our allies.

This reactionary Mass Hysteria over somebody's sexual orientation needs to stop.

Queer politics is a minefield. Old enough to remember when outing people was considered despicable, especially if done by the gay community, unless it was homophobic politicians or something. This is a very different take.

by Anonymousreply 16January 7, 2024 5:05 PM

R7 the author of the op ed is a MAN, photo in this thread.

by Anonymousreply 17January 7, 2024 5:30 PM

What are you referring to re: "playing with fire" OP?

by Anonymousreply 18January 7, 2024 5:31 PM

R17:

Anna Marks, who wrote the op-ed in The New York Times, is a woman.

Oliver Darcy, who wrote the CNN reaction story and whose photo appears in The Daily Mail's writeup, is a man.

by Anonymousreply 19January 7, 2024 5:32 PM

How dare you assume anyone's gender based on a DAMN PIC, R19!

What do you think this is? 2018??

by Anonymousreply 20January 7, 2024 5:41 PM

Who gives a shit that a straight woman is "signalling" to "queers" that she might have a "queer identity"?

by Anonymousreply 21January 7, 2024 5:51 PM

There's really no such thing as gender and there are thousands of genders and it can't possibly affect you and it's the most important thing in the world.

by Anonymousreply 22January 7, 2024 5:52 PM

As always, I stopped reading at the word "queer."

by Anonymousreply 23January 7, 2024 5:58 PM

Her friends circle has lots of rumored closet gay men. It’s suspicious

by Anonymousreply 24January 7, 2024 6:02 PM

I’m not reading anything with “queer” in it.

by Anonymousreply 25January 7, 2024 6:06 PM

She deserves her privacy but PR machine is pushing her personal relationship out constantly. It was inevitable that other fameballs, like this author, are going to try to capitalize on it.

by Anonymousreply 27January 7, 2024 6:23 PM

*But HER PR machine...

by Anonymousreply 28January 7, 2024 6:24 PM

If they published this, that makes me wonder if they know something? Just seems strange to do.

by Anonymousreply 29January 7, 2024 6:25 PM

Between that and this article about Kelce from earlier this week, I am convinced it's a fake relationship.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 30January 7, 2024 6:32 PM

R29, people are getting sick of her fake publicity romances, and are starting to call her out on it.

by Anonymousreply 31January 7, 2024 6:32 PM

And interestingly, that DM story about the Kelce PR machine is based on a NYT piece from last week.

I think it's time for the media to stop going along with fauxmances. It's not real journalism, it's PR or 'client journalism'.

by Anonymousreply 33January 7, 2024 6:49 PM

Sorry, but she's asking for it. Nobody is perfect, and I think that leading the media on will be her downfall. I'm not saying that TS should tell people " everything " about her life, but she's on a slippery slope with this. Fuck it, I really couldn't say what her music sounds like, but I know eventually the press will try to bring her down. A monstrous business.

by Anonymousreply 34January 7, 2024 7:36 PM

The Lizard People who created this product called "Taylor Swift," are not going to be happy with the NYT article!

by Anonymousreply 35January 7, 2024 7:59 PM

Has she ever dated a civilian? It's always fellow celebrities which lends credence to the bearding rumors, right? And that's because you can't trust a regular person or the people in their circle.

by Anonymousreply 36January 7, 2024 9:19 PM

How far the NYT has fallen if they're running opinion pieces of whether Swift is a lesbian.

That's just pathetic whether she is or isn't one.

by Anonymousreply 37January 7, 2024 9:34 PM

She could avoid the press if she wanted to. It's not like the paparazzi hounding Britney Spears in 2006-8. Swift's every appearance in the tabloids is obviously carefully choreographed.

by Anonymousreply 38January 7, 2024 9:35 PM

[quote] How far the NYT has fallen if they're running opinion pieces of whether Swift is a lesbian.

The editorial staff politburo are mostly Gen Z and Millennials now

by Anonymousreply 39January 7, 2024 9:40 PM

The NYTimes is embarrassing and Swift has been a real publicity whore lately.

I preferred when she disappeared to England for a couple years and released that folk album. Now she’s back to paparazzi photos and hanging out with her “squad” and this whole thing with the football player and carrying on like some sorority girl at his games.

It’s too much.

by Anonymousreply 40January 7, 2024 10:00 PM

Good to know NYT is covering the important issues.

by Anonymousreply 41January 7, 2024 10:02 PM

There are so many layers of stupid and wrong here, I can barely sort it out. First level, Swift never warranted this attention and her contributions to music are, at best, mediocre Second level even if they weren't and she was the greatest musical artist of modern times, no one should give 3 shits about her personal life Now we have reached the 3rd level of stupid, where some self obsessed imbecile "outs" her because she/he/they/whogivesaratsass needs validation 4th level now, people are saying she "deserves" all this because...idk why but bitterness and stupidity are good theoried

And finally the 5th level of dumbassery, all this is covered, reported and validated by the New York Times....it's good to know that this once prestigious paper knows what's important. Certainly not the 2 major wars were people are being massacred daily. The important stuff like whether a mediocre pop star dives for clam meat.

We are going straight down the crapper. Have a nice day.

by Anonymousreply 42January 7, 2024 10:17 PM

Between this article and the Jo Koy joke, it hasn't been a good weekend for attention whore Taylor Swift!

by Anonymousreply 43January 8, 2024 2:09 PM

[quote] I preferred when she disappeared to England for a couple years and released that folk album. Now she’s back to paparazzi photos and hanging out with her “squad” and this whole thing with the football player and carrying on like some sorority girl at his games.

Just think - if Joe Alwyn had taken one for the tram and proposed, we would be spared all this nonsense.

by Anonymousreply 44January 8, 2024 2:25 PM

Was it a killer tram?

by Anonymousreply 45January 8, 2024 2:31 PM

The koy joke wasn’t even bad - I was expecting something somewhat offensive. But he just said the NFL shows a lot of shots of her at the games? And she was pissed at that?

by Anonymousreply 46January 8, 2024 2:44 PM

I don’t know for sure, because they were just before my time, but it seems like Monroe and DiMaggio must have done it better.

There’s no mystique with these two other than why on earth she has appeared everyfuckingwhere when I don’t look for her at all. I’m a KC Chiefs fan so Kelce’s record as a player and his bond with Mahomes have always been notable to me, but his football team’s season has sucked painfully and I don’t gaf if this singer wears a jacket like his into the suite at Arrowhead in which she proceeds to shriek with that freakishly large mouth covered in red lipstick that I’m seeing all the time.

I wish she’d fade out but that seems like too much to hope for as long as people keep clicking on the stuff their PR teams generate.

by Anonymousreply 47January 8, 2024 3:05 PM

[quote] I wish she’d fade out but that seems like too much to hope for as long as people keep clicking on the stuff their PR teams generate.

Which is why I'm glad she's coming under scrutiny, and not just being given a pass for her antics.

Hopefully, she'll think twice about all the attention seeking stunts, and just decide to go away on her own!

by Anonymousreply 48January 8, 2024 3:09 PM

We need examples of strong men like yourself.

[quote] How brave of you to have held up so well. It’s uplifting to see grown men not bend or break under the onslaught of Taylor news. Weaker men just don’t hold up.

Stop crying, R40.

You and Taylor really need to put on your big girl panties, if you're going to make it in the industry.

I thought Taylor Swift was a strong, independent woman? Don't tell me that she crumbles under a little bit of criticism.

Oh, and if she's so fucking strong, then why does she always need a man on her arm, and a relationship to flaunt?

Hint: IT'S ALL FAKE.

Oh, and she's a LESBIAN.

Dumb cunts. (You AND Taylor)

by Anonymousreply 51January 8, 2024 3:33 PM

R51

No she seems to be holding up well.

The strong I referenced was you not her. I don’t know her at all. You are an inspiration,

It’s the weak cunts that seem to melt because of her and her coverage.. When I see strong men like yourself refusing to cave under the pressure that is TS I am so glad we have tough mentally stable men like you who can resist her.

And as a side note when did grown adult men like we see on DL became obsessed with a female pop icon that caters to young girls?

by Anonymousreply 52January 8, 2024 5:09 PM

[quote] when did grown adult men like we see on DL became obsessed with a female pop icon that caters to young girls?

When she started flinging her DUMB FACE and her FAKE RELATIONSHIPS all over the news, videos, print media, social media and FOOTBALL GAMES in front of the entire world, for everyone to see!

We had no choice.

This attention whore bitch forced us all to look at her.

Now that we see her, THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES.

Most sane people can avoid her quite well if they choose. In fact I had never heard one of her songs that I knew was hers and I had never read an article bout her, nor did I ever watch a video with her performing u til I came to DL. And I had paid no attention to who she had been dating. Avoiding her , her stories, and her songs was quite easy.

Then I came to DL.

And the Swifty Queens of DL going on and on and on and on about her virtually every fucking day got the better of my curiosity.

I still have no idea why an adult man would be so consumed with her. But MAGA men and many gay men seem to have found common ground as far as their interest and hate for her.

Sane people can find ways to live a virtually Taylor Swift Free Life.

by Anonymousreply 56January 9, 2024 2:58 PM

[quote]Sane people can find ways to live a virtually Taylor Swift Free Life.

Only if you never read newspapers or news websites and never follow music and entertainment.

by Anonymousreply 57January 9, 2024 3:02 PM

R57

Try this it’s really not that hard.

Don’t fucking read the Taylor swift stories you see in the newspaper or on line. If you see her name in an article just skip over it like it does not exist. Don’t play her music. And here is a big one to help you. Quit starting or clicking on TS articles on DL. You show up every fucking time.

If you can’t manage that then the problem is not some female pop star whose main audience is girls and young woman.

by Anonymousreply 58January 9, 2024 3:12 PM

R6 do you know anything about this website at all?

Besides, it’s a fucking OPINION PIECE. And Shaun Mendes and other male entertainers have also had their sexuality questioned! Taylor is not special.

by Anonymousreply 59January 10, 2024 3:49 PM

An opinion piece in the NYT speculating on someone's sexuality, r59? And that is somehow ok?

by Anonymousreply 60January 10, 2024 4:05 PM

Yes it is okay. If Taylor doesn’t like it then she should not be a celebrity. They speculate on her heterosexuality but they can’t allude to her possibly being gay?

Fucking Swifty Frauen invading the site with their fake umbrage and pearl clutching. Psycho heifers. Be OUT!

by Anonymousreply 61January 10, 2024 4:28 PM

No one speculates on her heterosexuality, r61 - she dates men.

by Anonymousreply 62January 11, 2024 6:26 PM

Well, they report her endless relationships with famous men but at some point some critical thinking isn't warranted? I am tired of these obviously fake relationships being promoted as real. There's a very long tradition of it, going back to the golden days of Hollywood - 'smoke and mirrors' - but pretending to be straight these days means that you still buy into that there's something bad about being gay.

by Anonymousreply 63January 11, 2024 6:30 PM

R63

“ I am tired of…”

This is the thing she does not understand , her sex life has an adverse impact on on others on innocent people like you.

The Greatest Generation never had to live thru this kind of shit.

by Anonymousreply 64January 11, 2024 6:39 PM

Do we have a pesticide for Swifties?

by Anonymousreply 65January 11, 2024 6:42 PM

R63, if you really think Taylor Swift's a lesbian then you're a bit dim.

by Anonymousreply 66January 11, 2024 6:48 PM

R66 Frankly, my assumption is that the NYT knows something which is why they agreed to run that piece. They are trying to tell us without telling us which could get them sued if they don't have an actual video of her fucking a woman.

by Anonymousreply 67January 11, 2024 6:55 PM

[quote]No one speculates on her heterosexuality, [R61] - she dates men.

Are you seriously this fucking dense? Swift has made her entire career off of speculation on her Heterosexuality thanks her drippy pop lyrics that resemble a teenage girl's diary. She's exploited all of the men in her "relationships" but never reveals her own faults or how she contributes to it's failure. So why not speculate on her alleged homosexuality? She's a celebrity it's par for the course , every single one of them is gossiped about. Why don't you just admit your own homophbia on a gay website and then skip back over to People.com you silly frau.

by Anonymousreply 68January 11, 2024 7:08 PM

Swifties are in the room…get the glue traps and some matches…poppa wants to play…

by Anonymousreply 69January 11, 2024 7:31 PM

R67, the NYT doesn't know anything. They employed a "queer" woman so they could have a "queer" hire, and the only shit she could come up with is "Taylor Swift" is signalling to us that she's queer" without explaining just what these signals are, aside from the usual "woke" crap. Don't forget, "queer" can mean a million different things, it's not limited to being attracted to your own sex.

And since when has the NYT been in the business of outing people or speculating about celebrities' sexuality?

Oh fuck off twit at r68. The issue in question is the NYT speculating on a public figure's sexuality, which is pretty appalling, and all because they got themselves a "queer" hire who's incapable of writing anything of substance on issues of sexuality. The NYT speculating is not the same same thing as the DL speculating, where no facts, evidence or ethics are required.

by Anonymousreply 70January 11, 2024 7:47 PM

Taylor's PRs have paid the DL subscription!

by Anonymousreply 71January 11, 2024 7:48 PM

Searching for the Opinion Piece about any Male performer being gay.....hmmm nothing in the NYT archives.

by Anonymousreply 72January 11, 2024 7:56 PM

You fuck off you homophobic cunt R70. Celebrity gossip has no morals or ethics you fool it's pure speculation not academic writing, so what are you going on about? I have a feeling you wouldn't care if it was anyone else but Swift which shows your pathetic bias. Like I said skip on over to celebrity friendly People.com or maybe create a Taylor Swift fansite where you'll more likely find agreement.

I admire Taylor for taking a stand and supporting the Dem candidate in Tennessee. That took balls. I do admire her for that.

by Anonymousreply 81January 12, 2024 10:34 AM

I have it on good authority that Taylor Swift is completely smooth down there, like a Barbie Doll, and is made up of a fluid metal substance like the most recent Terminators.

by Anonymousreply 82January 12, 2024 10:38 AM

R82 Like she's a machine and almost not human? This isn't a criticism, it's what I think people like Taylor Swift are like. They are like machines, they mechanically do what is expected of them.

Correct it does not mean you share all your views and everything else with MAGA. But in this you have reached across the divide and found common ground with MAGA men. How inspiring and sweet. Donald certainly approves.

by Anonymousreply 89January 12, 2024 11:49 AM

by Anonymousreply 90January 12, 2024 12:48 PM

Don’t be ashamed that you share common ground with MAGA men .The country could stand more not less of that.

I bet there are many other areas where you and maga men share common ground not just on a shared hate for a liberal female pop star whose main audience is young girls but in other real life issues..

by Anonymousreply 91January 12, 2024 1:06 PM

My dislike of her and her stupid stans is quite different from the MAGATS…I AM BLACK AND GAY AND A DISABLED VETERAN. I’m sure I have nothing in common with them.

And by the way…PLONK!

by Anonymousreply 92January 12, 2024 1:09 PM

I dislike her *and* the MAGAts. The two don't go together that well, even. One is a singer, one is about authoritarian politics. Pretty different. I can dislike both without being aligned with the MAGAts. You sound crazy and your logic is wack.

by Anonymousreply 93January 12, 2024 6:03 PM

R93

It’s a fact not logic. Many Gay men based on 1000s of comments on DL hate her and MAGA men based on public comments also hate her.

If people deny that they are either stupid clueless or don’t read on DL.

by Anonymousreply 94January 12, 2024 6:14 PM

It was nothing but a hit piece. The conservatives (yeah I know NYT is supposed to be liberal but has at times run with very conservative stories) have been after Taylor because of her support of Biden. Fox ran a whole half hour about how the FBI recruited her to help Biden win lol. They figure if they can paint her as a secret lesbo she will lose her fan base.

by Anonymousreply 95January 13, 2024 3:26 PM

R95 So you're buying Fox's stupid conspiracy theory? Good to know.

by Anonymousreply 96January 13, 2024 3:37 PM

r95 no I am not buying it, simply pointing out that the NYT OP-Ed is along the same lines. I can't remember any time when a mainstream Newspaper questioned a celebrities sexuality as an Op-Ed.

by Anonymousreply 97January 13, 2024 3:41 PM

I cannot understand why Taylor Shit and her sell-out shows are so popular? Her so-called music is just so mediocre and forgettable. She's no Erykah Badu or Angie Stone. It speaks volumes about the vacuous nature of GenZ.

by Anonymousreply 98January 13, 2024 3:41 PM

[quote]no I am not buying it, simply pointing out that the NYT OP-Ed is along the same lines. I can't remember any time when a mainstream Newspaper questioned a celebrities sexuality as an Op-Ed.

My first contention would be that there is NO evidence that Taylor Swift has any effect on voting. The candidate she supported in Tennessee lost. People like and are entertained by celebrities but they also know that celebrities don't live in the same world as they do. There isn't much evidence that celebrity endorsements move votes, however unintuitive you find that to be.

Secondly, why do you discount that maybe they are running this op-ed because they know something but outside of an actual sex tape can't prove it? I would bet on that, personally.

by Anonymousreply 99January 13, 2024 3:44 PM

R99

It’s an op ed not a NYT editorial. In fact it’s the exact opposite of an editorial. I know you keep repeating this—-they must know something—-but you must understand that an op ed unlike an editorial is not speaking for the paper.

An op ed is an opinion piece written by someone not affiliated with the newspaper that the paper decides to publish. In this case the NYT got lots of mentions by others , lots of publicity, and lots of clicks for an op ed people saw as as a hot take opinion piece and not a NYT editorial... ,

by Anonymousreply 100January 13, 2024 4:16 PM

R100 There is still an editorial decision over what op-eds to run.

by Anonymousreply 101January 13, 2024 4:17 PM

R101

And the NYT hit it out of the park with this one. Like what they did or not it was a great PR business decision.

How many op eds in any newspaper gets talked about days and weeks later?

by Anonymousreply 102January 13, 2024 6:03 PM

Agree with r102.

And I don't assume Swift objects to that op-ed, no matter what her sexuality is, or, lack thereof.

Of the billions of words and dollars expended on Swift, if I get only one thing about her, it's that the woman loves to be talked about.

I don't think for one moment that Swift wishes it hadn't been published.

by Anonymousreply 103January 13, 2024 9:10 PM

How old are you, OP?

by Anonymousreply 104January 13, 2024 9:12 PM

R103

You have much better insight as to how she feels about things than I do.

by Anonymousreply 105January 13, 2024 9:18 PM
