This is embarrassing (and yes, real). This is her during her Ray of Light performance for her new tour. It’s so cringe.
Madonna really needs to just hang it up already

She can bend her knees so there's that.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | January 4, 2024 9:01 PM |
I saw this coming back in the 80s. She was addicted to the spotlight even then; it’s her drug of choice. I knew she would keep chasing that dragon into old age, thereby making a pathetic mess of herself. She’s a caricature of her former self.

Does it piss off Madge that Taylor Swift generates 20 times the publicity than Madge with a tiny fraction of the work Madge has to perform?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 4, 2024 9:57 PM |
It's really apparent now (if it wasn't already) that COADF was Madonna's Swan Song. And just a few years later, Taylor made her debut. I would never have guessed that Taylor would eventually overtake Madonna as the best selling female artist of all time but it's going to happen in the next 5-10 years. Her catalogue continues to perform incredibly well (number one aritst on Spotify last year) whereas Madonna's classic songs are ignored by the younger generation. It's a shame because I think Madonna's classic songs are much better than Taylor's most famous hits. But Madonna only has herself to blame for her catalogue performing poorly.

The ass looks ridiculous in some pics. It is large but less insane in the video above that shows her from a few angles. Still, why did she go for this big butt plastic surgery trend when clearly it was fleeting? It seems to be on its way out now after years of Kardashians dominating pop culture. I wonder if she already regrets it.

And this is why I have always appreciated an artist such as Diana Ross. There were times when she sang and performed material that was too old for her, but her audiences were being groomed for longevity. Not so much jumping up and down and twisting of the body into contortions. Artists such as Madonna, Janet Jackson, and maybe Beyonce, just to name a few have placed expiration dates on their careers.

What an astute observation r49.
Reading your post inspired me to go to youtube and re-watch her outdoors performance at Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee in June of 2022.
Yes, she moved like every inch the elderly lady she is now, but still, Ross looked and sounded (portions pre-recorded, I assume) FABULOUS.
Ger gown was divine. Her wig looked sensational.
And, if any performer has earned describing her appearance in capital letters, it's Ross.
Too bad Madonna didn't hang-it up after her 2012 Super Bowl appearance, and even then, the mileage was showing.

I've never understood why Madonna was so popular. She cannot sing and is annoying as fuck. She has always looked like a trailer park hooker to me and now that she's older, she reminds me of the hooker on My Name is Earl. "I showed him my good boob!"

We should remember that aging was the reason that the late GREAT Tina Turner retired. Also, the famous Grace Slick quote:
[quote]During a 1998 interview with VH1 on a Behind the Music documentary featuring Jefferson Airplane, Slick, who was never shy about the idea of getting old, said that the main reason she retired from the music business was, "All rock-and-rollers over the age of 50 look stupid and should retire."

by Anonymous | reply 65 | January 4, 2024 11:57 PM |
She needs to retire, she's too damn old to keep up the pace. But she'll probably end up like geriatric Vegas stripper Tempest Storm, or that 73 year old L.A. blonde billboard queen Angelyne.
Whatever happened to aging gracefully?

I don't think Taylor will sell as many physical units of music as Madonna. Taylor's sales figures are derived from "album equivalent" streaming.

All of this is true and it's a total mystery how things got this way. Her voice was never anything more than barely adequate but her songs her music videos her tours are so iconic and you can see Madonna's obvious influence on these young girls and female rappers today but no one thinks to mention her anymore. by Anonymous | reply 90 | January 5, 2024 2:58 AM |
R83, few artists still manage to sell physical units so Taylor is overtaking Madonna due purely to streaming and her previous digital singles sales (mainly from itunes). I do agree though, I think it's actually kind of pointless to even attempt to convert streaming numbers to EAS (equivalent album sales) since streaming acts as both a radio equivalent and digital singles equivalent.

The only songs of Madonna’s that I still like are “Live to Tell”, “Frozen” a couple of songs from the DL fave (j/k) Music and a couple from the Erotica album. I think the song written by Björk is on Erotica. I like that one if I’m in the mood.
I think Taylor is a really good lyricist, but her songs quickly become really boring or they are boring from the first listen. I don’t know why that is. I don’t hate her like a lot of DLers do, so I’m open to enjoying her music, but it’s just dull for the most part.

Madonna is a joke now in every way but Janbot is acting like Janet is so successful today. Even at her peak, Janet was not selling out the kind of stadiums Madonna was selling out as a 50+ year old woman.

R128, yes, Madonna's most devoted stans. I was obsessed with Madonna for a long time and there is no way in hell I could ever go to a concert where it is expected that the performer will be 2 to 3 hours late. That's some kind of Stockholm Syndrome regarding these stans that actually show up.

MDNA was amazing. It was. Truly. The concept. The concert. The style. The quality.
This is a Walgreen’s sponsored town fair type of show.
Ever since she grew a tree out of her poon, and kissed and gyrated with that Brazilian bull dyke, she’s been a complete and utter disaster.
Poor M.

You should really do your homework before opening your big fat mouth. The Velvet Rope tour’s closing date at the Aloha Stadium in Hawaii broke attendance records, exceeding its original capacity to accommodate additional ticket demands, making Janet the only artist in the venue's history to do so.

Meanwhile, for the MDNA tour, 53k attended in Milan, 62k attended Paris, 54k attended London, 52k attended Edinburgh, 70k attended Quebec, 84k attended Meixco City, etc. Not in the same league. Phones are not banned in this concert tour. Or correct me if I'm wrong. Surely they are not banned because there have been a zillion clips of this tour on the intertubes.

She just know she's verbally abusing staff and screaming at them before she gulps down an entire flask of vodka with more than half a bottle of opioids before she goes on stage each night.
