Must we bring up all these negative subjects? Why can't you talk about the Costa Rica movie, or the Marlon Brando movie, which I was wonderful in? This is all very upsetting to me!

I saw this in the theater as a teenager. I do remember Hart Bochner quite distinctly - and with continued appreciation.
Is this streaming for free anywhere? They should pay viewers to sit through it.

Nothing. Perfect movie. 10/10.

The only mistake made was not casting Faye Dunaway as "Supergirl". Helen Slater's performance lacks gravitas.

I've been trying to forget this piece of shit for nearly forty years. But noooo, OP you have to remind us.
Once again FD starring as a piece of decaying ham.

It's a camp classic! Dunaway should be proud of her participation!
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 16, 2023 10:35 PM |
As always, Faye is the problem with the movie.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 16, 2023 11:02 PM |
Brenda Vaccaro kind of dragged Faye in this interview when asked about working with her.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 16, 2023 11:06 PM |
Brenda Vaccaro seems like such a mensch in interviews.
Love Gilbert Gottfried’s podcast!!!

Brenda and Barbra Streisand are besties which is why Barbra frequently casts her in her films, sadly, Barbra hasn't made a film in twenty years or so...and only made a total of 4...

I enjoy this movie, but the visual effects look shockingly bad in some key scenes.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 17, 2023 12:51 AM |
But Dunaway looks fabulous in every scene, R12!

CGI almost as bad as that new Netflix shit starring Julia Roberts.

I couldn't resist the lure of this thread! I'm watching it now (streaming on MAX). Haven't seen it in decades...

BIANCA!!!
Power of shadow!

Grew up LOVING this movie and I still do. I was obsessed with Helen Slater's long golden locks and was aghast when she lopped it all off in her next film, the equally maligned The Legend of Billie Jean.

R15, I found it on Max as well. It’s about as I remember it, but I M admittedly struck by how extraordinarily pretty Helen Slater is this time around. I think her casting is good. The script and direction, however…

R15 reporting in... Just to the point where Hart Bochner is chained to Faye Dunaway's bed. Every Datalounger's dream!
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 17, 2023 3:59 AM |
R15 again... Okay. The script is pathetically bad, and not even coherent in places -though much of that could be to editing out half an hour from the director's original cut. Still the leads are strong and Hart captured my heart.

This shattered film remains a mystery…
Was this before or after “The Wicked Lady”, the film that ejected Marina Sirtis into stardom?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 17, 2023 4:52 AM |
Faye at 1:59 looks suspiciously a lot like Blanchett in FotR when she is being tested by her own lust for power. I wonder if Peter Jackson took that scene as an inspiration.

Better to ask what went right.
Total trainwreck from start to finish.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 17, 2023 3:20 PM |
R11, what are you talking about? Brenda Vaccaro only appears in THE MIRROR HAS TWO FACES -- and that's including the films Streisand made but didn't direct.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 17, 2023 4:10 PM |
Someone posted here about a running commentary between Brenda Vaccaro and Lee Grant regarding Airport ‘77. It was quite funny. Does anybody else remember this - and where it is on DL? (Probably part of the pre-2015 thread purge.)
