Why is it that someone who’s been struggling in the industry for two decades suddenly gets what he wants and then does this

OP, I have no idea.
I first saw him with passable singing on American Idol tryouts where he flirted with Paula and she -- and audiences -- swooned.
I watched him pop up as Aquaman on Smallville and then couldn't believe they passed him over for Mercy Reef (The Aquaman pilot -- Justin Hartley's hotness notwithstanding). But surprise he comes back as Aquaman after Justin gets the Green Arrow role.
I didn't catch much of Blue Mountain State; his testosterone driven football player hottie pushed too many painful buttons.
Then, he gets Reacher and nails it. All that success. It leads to other roles and now, an extra shift for the makeup artist who will have to cover up his body art. He's a LOT intense on his posts; deep into religion and I recall being open about mental health issues.
I fear for him and his family for some reason.
I hate tatts.
