“Last Call for Istanbul” on Netflix

If you’re a romance flick kind of gurlie like myself, you’ll like this one.

It’s a foreign film that takes place in NYC. It’s a Rom-Dramedy, as I call it. It’s too serious at times to be a straight up rom-com but also is a rom-com, so it’s a rom-dramedy.

I liked this movie! It was fun and sweet and engaging and not overlong. Never boring. Not super cheesy like some. It was good.

It’s about a Turkish man and Turkish woman who come to NYC and while waiting for their luggage at the airport they both notice one another because they’re both so attractive. Her luggage is taken by someone else who has the same exact luggage as her so he helps her to find the man who accidentally took her luggage based on what’s inside his luggage. They spend the night in NYC getting to know one another, eating dinner and going to a club to dance etc. he lets her know he is married out of the gate and he doesn’t cheat on his wife. She has different plans.

It was actually so good. The only gripe I have is that the version I had was with dubbed voiceovers in English. I don’t know if you can turn that off in the settings and just stick with subtitles. The good thing is it wasn’t distracting in this movie like it can be in some. Probably because some of what they say is actually in English as it takes place in NYC, so when they speak to anyone who isn’t each other they speak in English anyway. However, the dubbed voice is used for those lines also.
