by Anonymousreply 14December 3, 2023 2:35 PM

Oh, R10, I thought you meant “fun” pills.

by Anonymousreply 15December 3, 2023 6:07 PM

French toast with honey, bacon, strawberry yogurt, apple juice, and coffee.

by Anonymousreply 16December 3, 2023 6:16 PM

I’m never very hungry in the morning. The egg and the Bloody Mary are enough to hold me over until lunch.

by Anonymousreply 17December 3, 2023 6:18 PM

OP, I'm with you. I'm up around 4:45am 7 days a week (I'm long retired) and I almost always make an egg sandwich of 1 egg fried in butter on an english muffin with a slice of cheddar cheese, and I have one cup of coffee. Once in a while I'll have a bowl of oatmeal and coffee instead.

by Anonymousreply 18December 3, 2023 6:24 PM

Steel-cut oats, raisins, and peanut butter.

My old self: can of Diet Coke and a Marlboro.

by Anonymousreply 19December 3, 2023 6:25 PM

95% it's oatmeal with peanut butter and protein powder. Greek yogurt once in a blue moon.

by Anonymousreply 20December 3, 2023 6:27 PM

Coffee, pastry/bread, citrus fruit.

Sometimes an egg or oatmeal in lieu of bread or pastry.

by Anonymousreply 21December 3, 2023 6:46 PM

The fun part is the wake and bake! Ease into the day.

by Anonymousreply 22December 3, 2023 6:46 PM

A chocolate sheet cake, plus a Diet Coke.

by Anonymousreply 23December 3, 2023 7:06 PM

by Anonymousreply 30December 3, 2023 9:04 PM

by Anonymousreply 31December 3, 2023 9:06 PM

A couple of orgasms then coffee and food.

by Anonymousreply 32December 3, 2023 9:13 PM

It’s Sunday so lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes 🥞 with black coffee and some OJ. Real maple 🍁 syrup on the side. A probiotic gummy and some vitamins. Weekdays usually coffee maybe some oatmeal or toast.

by Anonymousreply 33December 3, 2023 9:25 PM

A whole-wheat English muffin with cherry jam (made from the fruit of our very own tree!), half a banana, a hard-boiled egg, and black coffee.

It was delicious!

by Anonymousreply 34December 3, 2023 9:30 PM

Cinnamon Toast Crunch

by Anonymousreply 35December 3, 2023 9:33 PM

R5, it's okay to eat something other than fruit.

by Anonymousreply 36December 3, 2023 9:35 PM

In the before times, black coffee and cigarettes. I practically lived on black coffee and cigarettes.

Up until about 7-8 pm, when I usually got home from work.. Then it was vodka or wine and cigarettes.

Ah, those were the days.

by Anonymousreply 37December 3, 2023 9:40 PM

R33 is insufferable

by Anonymousreply 38December 3, 2023 9:50 PM

I cook some sort of whole grain every morning. Quinoa, millet, buckwheat, oats, bulgur, 10 grain cereal. I sprinkle a little psyllium on it, some frozen blueberries or strawberries, a little dab of butter, and some honey. I chase it down with about 6 oz of soy milk. I find this sort of breakfast gets my day off right. It's a bit complicated to do it when traveling, but I manage by microwaving in a hotel room.

by Anonymousreply 39December 3, 2023 9:53 PM

Scrambled eggs and a protein shake.

by Anonymousreply 40December 3, 2023 9:55 PM

Nothing, OP. I fast until dinner.

Cereal, either oatmeal or some whole grain.

A fruit, if I have any, eaten at work mid-morning. I hate being famished at lunch as it contributes to bad choices.

by Anonymousreply 45December 3, 2023 10:07 PM

R18 has about three more years to live.

by Anonymousreply 46December 3, 2023 10:09 PM

Large glass of water. a vitamin. two eggs and two slices of wheat toast.

by Anonymousreply 47December 3, 2023 10:12 PM

Oat and chia pudding with protein powder, almond butter, frozen raspberries and fresh blueberries or pineapple & a few walnuts and coffee with soy.

by Anonymousreply 48December 3, 2023 10:13 PM

Christmas breakfast trifle.

by Anonymousreply 49December 3, 2023 10:55 PM

Nothing, absolutely nothing and I lost 17 pounds last month now down to 200 now, my goal is 185 pounds. I eat my first meal anywhere from 11AM to 4PM, it is often some oatmeal with raisins sometimes other things. I normally have a very small snack around 9 PM and then I am done. I use to never be able to go that long without eating but something changed and now I can, I have no idea what changed just glad it did. Most days are oatmeal first, spinach salad second meal and rice cakes for the snack or a small bowl of Honey nut Cheerios.

by Anonymousreply 50December 3, 2023 10:56 PM

Candy

by Anonymousreply 51December 3, 2023 10:56 PM

If we have breakfast for supper then we go hardcore, it's bacon or sausage and eggs and hash browns or potato and egg tacos on corn tortillas with lots of pico de gallo or salsa verde. Or bacon egg tacos. This is also brunch sometimes.

by Anonymousreply 52December 4, 2023 11:51 AM

That woman at R44 seems to have enough food in her house to do a "zero spend season".

by Anonymousreply 53December 4, 2023 11:57 AM

Weekdays: Berries with plain non-fat Greek yoghurt (Chobani), quick one-minute oatmeal with a tsp of peanut butter, cinnamon, and sliced banana, coffee.

Sunday mornings: Berries with plain non-fat Greek yoghurt (Chobani), two poached eggs on toasted whole wheat or rye bread (w/ sliced avocado spread, sliced tomato, and cheese underneath), sausage or bacon, muffin, danish, or pastry from local bakery, coffee.

by Anonymousreply 54December 4, 2023 11:58 AM

R36- That's why my breakfast today is-

Everything organic-

Sprouted Oatmeal

Chia Seeds

Hemp Seeds

Ground Flax Seeds

Fair Trade Cacao Powder

and

2 Vital eggs medium boiled

by Anonymousreply 55December 4, 2023 2:04 PM

Oatmeal and coffee.

by Anonymousreply 56December 4, 2023 2:06 PM

Some people enjoy having 5 senses, others make do with only 3, I guess.

by Anonymousreply 57December 4, 2023 10:25 PM

Depends on how my stomach is doing. I have GERD and at times it's bad.

Coffee, Diet Coke, or Hot or Iced Tea (the tea being mild in order of stomach issues) - worst case scenario: diet 7 up or just hot water.

Some protein - either turkey sausage patties, vegetarian ones, occasionally sausage links or bacon, sometimes 1 or 2 hard boiled eggs, sometimes chopped with Earth balance, others plain. No carbs usually

If stomach is really iffy, a shrimp cup noodles.

by Anonymousreply 58December 4, 2023 10:32 PM

R58-That's not a healthful diet.

You should be eating lots of fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds and legumes.

by Anonymousreply 59December 4, 2023 10:35 PM

R59 I can't eat fruit due to my IBS. I eat a lot of vegetables for lunch and dinner, except for broccoli, cauliflower and brussels sprouts/cabbage. Those are no-nos. Nuts, seeds and legumes are not good for people who have a family or personal history of diverticulitis and I have it on both sides of the family. I start the day with protein as a rule, keeps hunger down. My cholesterol is great without medication.

by Anonymousreply 60December 4, 2023 10:43 PM

by Anonymousreply 65December 5, 2023 12:06 AM

Op, just some unsolicited advise. Waiting 90 minutes after waking up allows adenosine levels to rise slightly, making caffeine more effective at blocking receptors and keeping us alert throughout the day.

My typical workday morning breakfast is low carb and sugar:

1 Three Wishes cereal, with organic blueberries and unsweetened Malk almond milk.

2 Mushroom coffee with Laird non-dairy coffee creamer

3 Handful of macadamia nuts and/or pecans.

4 One small square of Hu dark chocolate

by Anonymousreply 67December 5, 2023 12:52 AM

A martini is an afternoon beverage, for sure. I have a Bloody Mary because tomato is very good for you. Sometimes I’ll have a mimosa if I need a little Vitamin C.

by Anonymousreply 68December 5, 2023 1:07 AM

1 cup of egg whites made into an omelet and 6 slices of non cured Canadian Bacon.

by Anonymousreply 72December 5, 2023 1:30 AM

A hard-boiled egg, homemade tomato slices with dry seed and leek jam, and my choice of German muffin.

by Anonymousreply 75December 5, 2023 1:45 AM

Dinner! Seriously. I have an extremely strong espresso (okay, a giant latte) in the morning, then head out and don't eat a damn thing the early evening. It's not a deprivation thing-- I just have absolutely zero hunger. I guess we all get used to our own biorhythms. I'm aware that this doesn't align with the usual eleventy-tiny-meals-a-day recommendations, but I seem to be thriving -- at least from the outside.

Mushroom coffee, R66? Sounds disgusting.

by Anonymousreply 79December 5, 2023 3:28 AM

I don’t believe that I’m an alcoholic just because it seems to be going out of fashion. I’ve always enjoyed it and it’s never caused me any problems. People seemed much happier in the past when everyone drank and smoked.

Mother would have a martini ready to hand to Daddy when he walked in the door every day. It relaxed him after a long day and he would play and talk with us kids while Mother finished making dinner.

Oatmeal and raspberries

Two egg whites and one Applegate organic maple-chicken sausage

Almond butter on an English muffin

Trader Joe’s coffee with 2 tablespoons of half n half every day

by Anonymousreply 96December 13, 2023 4:04 PM

R96 Sounds great. Just be sure the oatmeal is organic. Conventional oatmeal is very high in glyphosates.

by Anonymousreply 97December 13, 2023 4:08 PM

Black coffee and a syringe of Wegovy.

by Anonymousreply 98December 13, 2023 6:51 PM

That’s a very personal question. No, I won’t tell you.

by Anonymousreply 99December 13, 2023 7:19 PM

by Anonymousreply 100December 13, 2023 7:36 PM

Why hot water? Why two huge glasses of it?

by Anonymousreply 101December 13, 2023 7:37 PM

Why lemon juice? Do you have scurvy?

by Anonymousreply 102December 13, 2023 7:38 PM

Hot water with lemon juice first thing in the morning helps your body get rid of toxins. Some people drink it with fresh grated ginger and Turmeric too. It's a health measure. It's especially a good thing during flue season.

by Anonymousreply 103December 13, 2023 7:45 PM

by Anonymousreply 105December 13, 2023 7:49 PM

Three days out of the week, it's cold cereal; the other 3 days it's some kind of carb, like a toasted bagel, English or blueberry muffin. I will have eggs maybe 2x a month, but in the last 6 months, eggs have started to make me feel nauseous after eating them so they don't make it on the menu as often. It's puzzling this is happening at this age. Maybe 6 times a year I will make grits or cream of wheat, for a change of pace. I impulsively bought a waffle iron (classic-style, not Belgian) about 2 months ago, but they just don't tase the same as the ones I remember as a kid. I think it's that non-stick coating that makes the outside hard. Oh well

Sunday is always pancakes and sausage while I do the Times crossword puzzle.

R107 It is incredibly beneficial. I do something similar to this. I use a whole organic lemon, wash it, cut it in half, put the two halves in the blender with a glass of cold water and two Stevia packets and blend it for 1 minute, pour into a large glass and drink it as is. The benefits of ingesting an entire lemon with the skin, pulp, seeds and juice are amazing. I do this twice a week.

R117, I have no problem with your ritual and how it makes you feel and the health benefits of vitamin C and water; however, lemon juice cannot rid you of toxins. Chelation therapy can remove metals from your body.

by Anonymousreply 123December 14, 2023 4:25 AM

Huge glass of water, double espresso and juice of a lemon, sometimes on weekends or when traveling an orange or seasonal fruit as well. Add me to the lemon brigade.

by Anonymousreply 124December 14, 2023 4:40 AM

Coffee with frothed oat milk (full fat) and a Kind breakfast protein bar.

by Anonymousreply 125December 14, 2023 5:24 AM

It really varies. I have never been a fan of breakfast, and usually just had a strong coffee drink along with a small OJ and a muffin or croissant. Or I just had coffee and skipped breakfast. Now that I've retired, I usually make myself an egg. And I have one meal in the middle of the day -- brunch -- instead of breakfast or lunch. So basically I make myself something that looks like an Egg McMuffin. Or I make a sandwich.

by Anonymousreply 126December 14, 2023 5:38 AM

by Anonymousreply 135December 14, 2023 5:06 PM

Steel cut oats are the same as Irish oats or Scotch oats. Steel-cut just refers to the types of machine blades that cut the raw oats into tiny dices. They tend to cook up with more chewy texture than rolled oats, which are steamed and then flattened. Instead of cooking steel cut oats, which can take a long long time to cook and variable in texture after that, I actually cook bulgur wheat (which has a very similar texture but cooks much faster) and mix it with quick oats. I get the nice oat flavor, I get the chewy texture, but I don't have to cook it for 1 hour.

Mimosas, brandied egg nog, cookies, espresso martinis, margaritas, the entire panoply of starches sugars and alcohol. I will indulge myself for 7 days. Then I have to strap down and get serious about diet and exercise.

I usually eat between 10 AM and 110 AM. I bought some honey smoked salmon at Costco, slightly less than a pound, and I've had three servings of it on various days, along with high fiber, multi grain bread, toasted and slathered with cream cheese, sliced red onions, and Campari tomatoes. It was delicious, and I washed it down with Green tea.

First thing in the morning, Drink Water. If possible, with lemon. We've been dry all night. Don't shock your body with coffee first.

by Anonymousreply 153December 16, 2023 4:30 PM

R153 I drink my iced Evian with my coffee. Please don’t tell me what to do. Thx.

by Anonymousreply 154December 16, 2023 4:52 PM

I drink water to take my morning medications, but I don't count it as part of breakfast.

by Anonymousreply 155December 16, 2023 5:14 PM

R139, why the whole week? I'm bad Christmas Eve (after 6pm), Christmas Day and New Year's Eve. Anything goes! On health track the rest of the time.

This morning i made a batch of my "doctored" bacon: on a parchment covered baking sheet, lay pieces side by side, sprinkle liberally with fresh ground pepper, garlic powder and dehydrated onion bits (i was out, so opted for onion powder instead. Bake at 400 degrees for about 18 minutes or until desired crispness is achieved.

I toasted some homemade bread to have with said bacon and began to prepare an egg...cracked it and (i've NEVER had this happen before in all my 54 years), it came out fucking black and rotten and stinking into the pan. Ugh, what a shock and i was so disgusted, i lost my appetite for anything other than the buttered toast and coffee.

I put the bacon away for another time and threw out all the eggs in my fridge (bought a new dozen later in the day).

I eat food!

by Anonymousreply 158December 18, 2023 6:02 AM

I have a cup of hot oatmeal every day. I’ve been doing this for a few months to see if I can get my cholesterol down without having to go on a statin. In the rare instance that I don’t have the oatmeal for breakfast, I will have it for dinner or right before bed.

I could care less

Steel cut oats with fruit, usually a banana and a dab of agave syrup.

by Anonymousreply 163December 20, 2023 9:41 PM

Today, I had a bowl of old fashioned rolled oats and one slice of Costco's cranberry-walnut bread. And tea.

by Anonymousreply 164December 20, 2023 9:55 PM

Wine and/or orange juice with vodka. If I'm feeling a little down, some whisky.

by Anonymousreply 165December 23, 2023 2:54 PM

Lately I have been making savory oatmeal using unsalted chicken or vegetable stock. Often with a hard boiled egg chopped up in it.
