When I was 28!I lived in Chicago and the recruiting company I worked for just laid off half the staff in my office. I survive the first round of layoffs but ended up losing my job 2 months later. Anyway the night of the first round we've decided to go to a bar in andersonville and get blotto. I ended up really not even drinking that much but somebody about one of my co-workers a shot and I took it and I'm pretty sure something was maybe in it or it could have been all the pot I'd smoke before I went out. Throughout the night I ended up taking a cab with somebody I was out smoking with to another bar so they could buy a t-shirt and then went back to the first bar. Due to having left my debit card at work though I ended up on quite the adventure with a cab ride downtown eventually kicking me out me wandering to my office to get my debit card getting security to let me in and then sleeping on the floor at work.

I once had a crazy night in New York City too where that was pretty buzzed and some guy on grinder hit me up to come over to his apartment. So I took the subway to some pretty sketchy stop where he picked me up and drove me to his apartment in Spanish Harlem. We smoked a ton of pot and f***** and then he wanted to stick Frozen grapes up my ass. Anyway much of my life is basically just a lot of Order episode but where is somehow didn't turn bad and I am forever grateful for that. Yeah probably still a stupid as ever given that that really wasn't all that long ago.

Yeah, I feel like this is NYC downplaying this murder -- like that Irish filmmaker whose head and torso were found on the beach last month after supposedly going swimming and accidentally drowning in the Hudson River. Sure, Jan.
NYC has seen a rise in crime against whites and people are scared, so downplaying is one way to ease the public's fears.

I saw this and am not a bit surprised to see this woman blotto off her ass.
Just last night, I worked a holiday party for a huge, well-known accounting firm, and I've never seen more people completely drunk off their asses and stumbling around just like this girl.
One guy got drunk and fell on the floor and we had to call the paramedics. Then he got combative when they were trying to help him, and he had to be restrained on a stretcher and taken out. A woman went stumbling by me and projectile vomited. As the party was closing down and we were sweeping the venue to make sure everyone was exiting, I found a couple in a bathroom stall making out. I told them the party was over and it was time to go, and the drunk guy of the pair told me to fuck off. We had to call security and have him escorted out.
I honestly worried whether some of the people at the party would even make it home - like this girl didn't.

Whatever. There is footage of a dreadful incident in Flatbush of a double homicide (the result of a dispute between unhinged neighbors). The footage was recorded from security cameras installed in the hallway. The footage is crystal clear,(no audio) and the murder weapon is clearly visible in the recording.
There are cameras installed in a hovel out in East Flatbush but none in "luxury buildings" in prime neighborhoods where units sell for well over a million dollars

I live near one of those endless brunch places (now closed.) Groups of girls used to stagger out of there completely sloshed. Guys (nowhere as drunk) would hover around then and jump into taxis with them. A very unpleasant scene. People that drunk can end up in very dangerous situations.

[quote] Maybe she threw something away down the trash chute and accidently dropped her phone, then dove in after it to get it back.
A woman who lived in my building dropped her gym bag on the subway track and jumped down to retrieve it. In front of schoolkids from the local middle school. She was cut in half with her head and torso visible until it could be freed by police or coroner’s office people. The subway riders had to walk past her when told to get off the train. It was harrowing for many people. There really wasn’t anything worth her life in that gym bag. She was a lawyer but I think she wasn’t able to work much because of psych problems. She was about 40 and lived with her mother.
I wonder though if this trash chute woman’s drink was spiked. Why did she get out of the cab in Chelsea? I can understand a doorman buzzing her in - that’s more likely than her getting into a building if there wasn’t a doorman. They’ll buzz anyone in. They ask, “You know where you’re going?” Or “Is everything ok?”
Oh yeah, sure, I’m fine. Dont worry about me (presses elevator button).
We may never find out what happened if the family doesn’t want anyone to know. Look at Bob Saget. Also, she’s white. If they get into covering her death for several days, media can be accused of making a white woman’s death more important than a family domestic murder in queens.
I wonder if her body was compacted because some of the reports say “a woman’s remains were found” as opposed to her “body” being found. That might make it difficult to get a blood alcohol level.

I remember when a military guy came home and went to a party in a hotel. He was drunk and called his father to pick him up. His father drove to the hotel…no son.
He went inside looked all around, told the person at the desk, asked for security to do a search. Everyone looked around. The guy wasn’t there. Father called police, then later went on tv begging for information about his son. It was a mystery.
Two weeks later, people started complaining of a bad smell. Maintenance followed the smell…and found the mangled, decaying body of the military guy. He’d opened a door and walked into a giant exhaust fan.
Drunks do weird shit.

Omg, here’s a recent story:
Tue, November 28, 2023 at 5:15 PM
The disappearance of a Michigan man who has not been seen since October took a mysterious and tragic turn when his body was found in a vent inside a community college.
Jason Anthony Thompson, 36, was reported missing by his family after he was last seen on 25 October.
Over a month later, a body identified as Thompson was found in a ventilation system in a Performing Arts facility at the Macomb Community College in Michigan on Sunday.
The discovery came after a foul smell started to come through the vents, the college campus police said in an initial news release.
"There is no reason to suspect foul play," Macomb College Police Chief William Leavens said.
The college police said they are awaiting a cause of death from the Macomb County medical examiner.
In Facebook posts made to her local community, Shelby Thompson, the sister of the deceased father-of-two, had made pleas throughout November to help find her brother.
She said in a post that showed CCTV footage of Thompson leaving her apartment at around 5.41pm on 25 October and was last heard from via text message at around 9.40pm.
Ms Thompson said she went to local hospitals, jails, and police departments to try and find her brother, but was met with no avail.
“Never in his life has he ever gone without contact with our family for more than 24 hours, not once,” she wrote in her appeal posts.

The building has several negative comments mostly to do with the sketchy neighborhood. Maybe it's gone by now but there is a Strip Club next door. It sounds like the the kind of place where the door attendant takes a lot of breaks.
An obviously drunk woman would be quite the target next to a strip club. Maybe she veered into the unattended lobby to and decided to hide in the trash chute. Or poop in it.
The link is another disturbing story of a trash chute death and a drunk woman.

I used to live in a rent subsidized housing project in Yorkville. A notorious case back then was a “real estate worker” (who was actually a drunk who couldn’t keep a job) was hanging out with teens and they killed him and dumped him in the lake. He sometimes stayed with his mother who lived in my building which was described as a “posh upper east side doorman building.”
It wasn’t a rathole by any means, but it sure wasn’t posh. Media deliberately feeds you lies to sex up their stories. .

[quote] Why did people let her leave the party alone - there is some blood on their hands
Bish….
How long did she work at the company? It’s possible her coworkers didn’t know her well. Also, most people in Manhattan - especially young people - don’t have cars. They can’t afford a parking garage and street parking is even more difficult after CitiBikes took up a lot of spaces.
She lived in Brooklyn. What part of Brooklyn? If I live in Manhattan, or the Bronx, or eastern queens, I’m not getting in a cab with a drunk person, going all the way to Brooklyn with them to make sure they’re safe, then having to pay to go all the way home. You’re talking possibly several hours of travel after a party.
From what I know of young people, they’ve been drinking too damn much for years in college. Instead of smoking a little weed and chillin, it’s now the thing to get blackout drunk multiple times a year, and add a few substances as well. Molly, edibles, ketamine, shrooms. How many times in college did people in that office have to pour a friend into a cab or an Uber, and the person *didn't* wind up in a trash compactor? Probably…. a lot.
They did what they thought was right. At least they got her a cab and poured her into it. She’s a big girl now, she needs to handle her life.
If someone said to me, when I was working in NYC and lived in midtown, “You should get in the cab with this new coworker and make sure she gets home safe to Brooklyn,” I’d say “And you? Why aren’t you doing it if you’re so concerned?”
I made my way home from plenty of work-related goodbye parties, weddings, engagement parties. I never got so wasted I had to be piloted home by a coworker.

I find it...strange that she'd get so wasted.I'm still wondering if someone put something in her drink, maybe as a practical joke. There's something about this that seems off to me. I will be interested in the ME report.

It's possible that someone could have tried to drug her r120, but also possible she just doesn't know how to handle her liquor. If you don't drink that often you can not understand your own limits.
But yes it does seem like they made sure she got into cab, so they did their due diligence. What happened after that no one else can control.

A missing person poster circulated by friends after her disappearance said Elmquist was last seen hailing a cab outside the Catch Steakhouse after departing around 10 p.m. A security camera later caught Elmquist apparently getting buzzed inside the + arts building on W. 28th St. building on Thursday night, with the victim’s body located there the next day.
Have they spoken to the cab driver?

This is new information for me. I assumed she just wandered in, but someone specifically buzzed her inside?
by Anonymous | reply 125 | December 4, 2023 5:52 PM |
Why would they say 'no criminality suspected' so quickly? Who buzzed her in? How compacted was she? This guy in Denver survived!
A Denver man is in critical condition after falling into a trash chute at a downtown apartment building and being crushed by the compactor for a couple of minutes before help arrived.
Scott Walsh, 22, was with a female friend Friday evening in an apartment building near Union Station when her phone fell down the trash chute on the building’s first floor, Walsh’s friend Matt Johnson said. While Walsh peered into the chute, he lost his balance and fell about 15 feet to the trash compactor beneath, Johnson said.
Johnson was leaving work at nearby Pizza Pedal’r when the female friend, whom he also knew, ran through the parking garage beneath the apartment yelling for someone to call 911. The compactor had started to operate while Walsh was inside, and the two could hear him screaming in pain.
Johnson, who also lives in the building, called 911 about 1 a.m. Saturday, and police and firefighters arrived within minutes, he said. He watched as the emergency responders took apart the machine to retrieve Walsh and whisk him away in an ambulance.
“When they brought him out he was still conscious,” Johnson said. “He kept saying that his leg was broken but he didn’t know how bad it really was.”
The compactor broke both of Walsh’s legs, cracked his skull on both sides and ruptured arteries in his neck, his friend Liz DiSalvo said. He’s been heavily sedated but is expected to survive, she said.
Denver police responded to the apartment complex and didn’t find anything suspicious about the incident, spokesman Sonny Jackson said.
by Anonymous | reply 126 | December 4, 2023 6:02 PM |
The difference being someone was with the guy in Denver and called 911 immediately.
Whereas police had to trace this girl from a call coming from the Midwest saying “she didn’t show up at work.”
They had to question people at the office, at the party, they had to view security footage, try to track down a cab, look at security footage in Chelsea, find the building, etc.
Seems she was missing over the weekend when maintenance was probably skeleton staffed at the Chelsea building and didn’t empty the trash compactor.
They come in Monday morning - she was missing since Thursday night/early Friday morning.
She gonna be dead by Monday.
Maintenance finds body, calls 911. “It’s just like in Goodfellas! This body was churned in the garbage!”
Lenny Briscoe says “Hey LT, we gotta call on a dead female at the bottom of a trash chute in Chelsea and we also gotta missing person report on a female from a steakhouse a cuppulla days ago. Ding, ding, ding…I think we got a winner here.”
LT sighs and says “Ok Lenny you and whoever is playing the hot young male cop this season better get down there ASAP before the media does.”

“Wuddaya tawkin about? I got six calls I gotta make in this building. We got stopped up toilets, flickering hall lights, and some people are complaining about bad smelling water in the shower and kitchen. I got a go up on the roof, climb the ladder and check the water tower. I ain’t got time for this compacted girl. Get somebody else to do it. Get José or Rashid”
“Hey buddy, this might be news to you, but we’re the police. You get your butt in the basement right now and show us why we’re here or you’ll be cooling your jets down at the station for the next 23 hours. We’ll grill you like a sirloin.”
“Ok, ok. It’s not my fault some chick got marinated at a party in a steakhouse and turned herself into chop meat”
“Waddaya mean ‘turned herself into chopped meat?’ Are you the detective now? Tell us how you know she wasn’t murdered, Sherlock.”

[quote].I'm still wondering if someone put something in her drink, maybe as a practical joke.
Well, at my very first professional job, 2 of my co-workers, both gay by the way wanted to go out for a drink. We went to a straight restaurant in town that was known for shitty food but really cheap drinks. They kept buying me drinks and got me wasted so they could hear what I really though of my boss. What was a bitch. I made it home somehow, they never put anything in my drink but I was so wrecked the next day I decided to call in sick on Monday.
Long story short, they though I was dead. They didn't know I had called in sick and my boss didn't bother to mention it to them. So by noon they went and told my boss they were worried about me because we went out drinking all night. UGHHHHH!. On top of that my cunty boss decided to call me after that and ask now my "sore throat" was doing so he should hear me lie about it again.

I’ve never seen a garbage chute, and they’re in a lobby? Does it open up like a dumb waiter and it’s more or less a slide that goes to a commercial garbage bin? If so, does it go outside or into a basement?
Do recyclables have a separate slot?
by Anonymous | reply 141 | December 6, 2023 3:42 AM |
Garbage chutes wouldn't be found in a lobby r141. They are are on the living floors of apartment buildings. You don't want to have to walk your trash all the way down stairs and outside to a dumpster. So on the floor there will be a garbage chute where you can just open it up and drop your bag of trash down the chute into a slide and gravity brings it down into some sort of dumpster. My building also has a recycling bin next to the garbage chute so you can depose of recycling, no chute for that, the building has to come collect it.
by Anonymous | reply 142 | December 6, 2023 3:48 AM |
I can't believe she would have been coordinated enough to get herself into a chute...they're not vacuums, are they?? it seems like it would have been difficult for her to fit her body into a square space, unless it's a full sized door. You're stumbling drunk and you end up falling into a (maybe) 3 foot square space?
by Anonymous | reply 143 | December 6, 2023 3:55 AM |
R143, I always wonder about this as well. Every garbage chute I've seen in a residential building has been fairly narrow and the cover doesn't usually open to more than a 90 degree angle.

It was MURDER
by Anonymous | reply 149 | December 6, 2023 10:01 AM |
R141, I live in a high-rise, every floor except the ground floor or garage have a garbage chute. It's in a tiny little room at the end of the hall. It's the size of a coat closet. The actual chute is about 18 inches wide by about 20 tall. It's a couple feet off the ground and the door only opens about 1/4 of the way, not even 90 degrees. It's big enough to stick your head in but not your shoulders. What others have not said is once you get past that metal door, if you could climb in the main chute is a lot bigger. It's the same chute for all the floors above it. Maybe 4 feet in diameter.
There's no way anyone would stick their head in a chute because trash from floors above you could suddenly hit you. It would be too dark with no lights to see the bottom. I am going with murder, unless it was an exceptionally large door on that. Those things drop straight down into a dumpster, it's not a slide.
by Anonymous | reply 150 | December 6, 2023 12:32 PM |
How on earth does a building keep its garbage chute clean. It seems like a tunnel for vermin to easily penetrate and spread through the entire building.
by Anonymous | reply 151 | December 6, 2023 12:41 PM |
Our garbage chutes are cleaned at least once a month, We have cleaning crew here every day to clean. R150 accurately describes the set up. IMO you'd have to very deliberately climb into the chute, or be placed in the chute. This whole situation makes absolutely no sense to me. All I can tell you is if I was falling down drunk, staggering and swaying around, stumbling into my apartment building, the only thing I would want to do is lay down. And you'd have to climb to get into a chute. I wouldn't be in any shape to climb. Now I wonder if the girl had to be sick? It's possible she put her head into the chute to throw up ? It makes no sense. How this happened without assistance to someone who was physically impaired makes no sense.
by Anonymous | reply 152 | December 6, 2023 12:53 PM |
Yep, even if I was NOT impaired, it would be very hard to get into the chute. I would have to find something to climb on, struggle to fit through the door. It's like climbing into the back seat side windows of a car, you could do it but it would take some turning and twisting. No one just falls into the back seat of a car from the side window, even if it was open.

I wonder what floor she was on when she entered the chute. If she was higher she might have died from the impact, but it's also possible the landing was somewhat soft and she suffocated from trash that piled up on top of her.
Is the compactor on the bottom? I assume so. Perhaps she was compacted to death.
In any event, it's a terrible way to die. I'm sorry for her. She looked like a sweet young person with so much life ahead. RIP.
by Anonymous | reply 157 | December 6, 2023 11:35 PM |
Even if she was f-ed up as all hell, dunks can hardly walk or open a door the right way, how would she stumble upon a relatively out of sight trash room door to begin with? Let alone throw herself down the tube? Mast trash chutes are hidden behind some door or a service hall because they are unsightly. Getting off some random floor in a strange building, most people would realize it's not where they live and go into auto pilot and return the the elevator.

And nlr161, the Denver guy had a friend watching it as it happened. He was looking to see if he could see her phone and he accidentally fell down it.
by Anonymous | reply 162 | December 7, 2023 12:46 AM |
Jesus H Christ, you would have to shove your body half way into the tube to "accidentally" fall in. Who dose that in the first place? I have known people in my building who accidentally and intentionally threw things down the tube they wanted back, everyone who lives in a building like that knows all you have to do is go to the trash room and fish it out of the large dumpster. Usually right on top.

Friend who would black out drunk has peed in a drawer, the closet, and the hallway. Ironic because when sober he keeps his house very neat and clean. He would end up dancing at the bar, somebody shot a video of him dancing and he was mortified. When sober he wouldn't be caught dead doing that. So when you black out you can do some out of the ordinary shit.

When I was a timid, gay young man, the first (only) time I did mushrooms I had too many tequilas. The next thing I knew I was in a biker bar, leaning over a pool table with a cue in my hand. I looked around and saw a friend who I learned had followed and kept an eye out. The straight-bear roughs and one in road-worn leather at the pool table all grinned and nodded a so long. I started to walk away and the leather biker said, "Don't forget your pot," and I saw money on the table. I'd been winning.
I had never been in a bar like that. I didn't and don't play pool.
My friend said I just took off like I knew what I was doing, walked a long way and went into the bar, and started talking and playing.
