Neighbor’s House

Yesterday I heard a truck go into the driveway.next door. We have a lot of trees so I couldn’t see what kind of truck it was. I heard this noise that sounded like a garden house uncontrollably forcing water out at a high pressure. I thought maybe they’re getting something done to their sprinkler system. (I’m in northeast so it’s cold here)

Tonight I’m in my bedroom which has a window facing their house. I can’t see their house because of a privet hedge. I gradually became aware of a noise at recurring intervals. It’s an electronic sounding noise - like a pool filter. It happens every 6 minutes, goes for 10 seconds then abruptly stops.

What could it be? I know they have security cameras. Could it be a camera scanning their yard? They only live here from Memorial Day to Labor Day., so I understand the need to have cameras .A relative of theirs on our block had a house broken into over the winter one year. That relative’s house burned down in early May. (We think they did it on purpose because we know they scammed insurance company once before)

I don’t know, Gladys Kravitz.

Are you on well water? A pipe could have burst due to the cold and the well pump is constantly cycling on to fill the tank.

Jesus Gladys - just call the police and report there is something strange going on in the Stevens house!

Sounds like the house ghost turned into a robot with an appetite for murder!

Why don't you call your neighbor? What kind of pussy are you? If you don't know their number, find it.

Another thing I’ve noticed in summer is that when I go to my flower bed in my side yard facing their side yard, I hear cutlery clinking as if someone is putting cutlery in a basin to wash it - but I know there’s nobody home and their windows are closed.

They’re mafia, btw. In the restaurant supply business in Brooklyn.

Jesus R7, bury the lede.

Maybe call the police — anonymously — but that's it.

Have you had rain lately? They could have a sump pump and some sort of water issues in the basement. They probably did have their sprinkler system blown out - that would be normal I'm with the person above who said to track them down. Even if it's nothing, people would rather have neighbors keeping an eye on their vacant house than the opposite. You can find most people now if you know their first and last names. Just put their names, their location, and whitepages in google and then sift through the people that pop up - select the one whose name, location, and age match. Recently my neighbor fainted on her front lawn. Another neighbor contacted me by phone and asked me if I knew the number of anyone to call. I randomly googled her son's name and pretty quickly was able to get a phone number for him, although in his case, it wasn't through whitepages but some other people search.

I don’t hear it today, but I’ll keep my ears peeled tonight.

The first sounds like plumbing. The second sounds like sound is doing weird things around the flowerbed. Maybe the wind against the fence.

Ok found out what it is. A space heater my husband put in guest bathroom. Cat’s been pooping on shower rug so he closed the door ….which made the room cold…so he’d turned on the heater to maintain 60 degrees. So it seems the setting = turn on e dry 6 minutes for 10 seconds. Duh.
