Name Some Restaurants You Absolutely Refuse To Enter, Even If You Are Starving To Death
Here are my choices:
KFC.....Burger King......IHOP.........Cafe Cluny ( the one in the West Village. Owned by the ex-wife of that Jew-hating scum. Keith McNally)....i've had better food in a greasy spoon in Hell For Certain, Kentucky, than at her hot mess

Chick Fill A for their hateful, antigay politics. Never had it, never will.
Applebees because it is disgusting.

Those aren't restaurants. They are fast food places. The only fast food place I would eat at is El Pollo Loco simply because they are a tad healthier than the other crap. I go there maybe once a year.
The other places are cancer and obesity causing crap. I cook most of my meals at home and on the weekends maybe go to a sit down restaurant with table service. I would never go to Applebees or Chili's. Most chain restaurants are bad.

McDonald's. I haven't been in one (nor eaten from one) in more than 30 years. No great principal, I just think their food is disgusting and their advertising campaigns likewise. It was never a place I went to by choice and I think the daily smell of a restaurant next to my office building put me off them completely.
McDonald's international ubiquity puts me off, too, so likewise I avoid Subway and Pizza Hut, both of which have bad food.
I very rarely go to a fast food restaurant - once or twice a year - so it's not as though I'm making some sacrifice.
As for principal, I'd never go to a Chick-Fil-A, or to any other business that was anti-gay.

Popeye’s gave me indigestion the one time I had it and I won’t go back.
Chick-fil-A or however the fuck it’s spelled: obvious reasons.
Subway: I hate the smell of it.
IHOP: bad food, bad service.
Applebees, Chili’s, any restaurant like that: vile. (Cheesecake Factory is the exception but I don’t have one nearby and haven’t been in years.)

Most chain restaurants, because eating that cheaply cannot in any way shape or form consist of food of any quality. Most of what's been mentioned are hideous slop houses I would never visit.

McDonald’s burgers taste like shit- vile really. Not remotely like a hamburger made with chopped g by red. Their milk shakes barely taste like what they are. I don’t get it. BK is just a tad better, or not as vile.
Its a whole other standard if food, if you want to call it that.

Not a fan of MuckDonalds, it really is a desperate last resort for me if absolutely everything else is shut.
We dont have Chik fil A here but I wouldnt set foot in one of those places for reasons what have been mentioned above, would go to McDonalds first
Have done Burger King which is one level up from McDonalds for me, the desperate second to last resort along with Kentucky Fucked Duck as we call it out here
Subway actually isnt to bad, I've gone there willingly in the past, you can actually put together something pretty healthy from there if you make good choices. Would definitely pick that over McDonalds Burger King or KFC

I’ve only been to a Boston Market once because I thought home-style comfort food sounded nice.
I think that may be the worst restaurant ever created. I know Olive Garden gets a bad rap, but I’d eat an Olive Garden if it was the only option. If Boston Market was the only option, I’d just starve.
And I like IHOP 😝. (And I’ve posted about that and got a TON of shit for it).

I used to love IHOP. But man they went downhill starting about ten years ago or so. The last time I went (ten years ago) the water in the water glass tasted like mop water (undrinkable), and the pancakes they served me were raw in the middle. I was so disgusted I just left. Paid the bill, but zero tip.

I worked at both Applebee's and Chili's. Their food it usually fresh, not frozen, unless it's something like mozzarella sticks or potato skins. The steaks and burgers are grilled to order. I don't get the bashing.
I haven't been to KFC, since I have a Popeyes nearby, but it doesn't look appetizing. Ditto Domino's. That was my favorite in college 20 years ago, but it's at the bottom of the pizza chains now.

You have that weirdly backwards. A long while ago, Dominos was at teh bottom of the pizza chains (cardboard with ketchup, was the common description). It was awful. They changed their recipe about 20 years ago ish (2008?), and now it's pretty good. WAY better than Pizza Hut, which has gone way, way, way down hill over those same 20 years.
Of course, most independent pizza places are better, but Domino's is actually decent these days.

About once a year, I'll have an Arby's market sandwich. They're usually pretty tasty. I also like breakfast at Cracker Barrel, every year or two.

I'm in an area filled with chain restaurants, and fast food, but the list of ones I'll eat at is much shorter than the ones I won't.
Most fast food is off the list entirely for me due to dietary restrictions. But I would never eat at Chick-Fil-A or In & Out Burger because of their religious BS.
KFC would blow out my remaining organs, same with Long John Silver's, Taco Bell, and most pizza places.
I dislike McD's overall but about twice a year breakfast items and/or a burger hits the spot. Chipotle is OK. (I have to check out El Pollo Loco as recommended above).
I used to do Denny's every so often but a Moons over my Hammy sandwich went from $14 to $21 so....nah.
Every once in a very blue moon, I've joined friends or we've ordered in from Cheesecake Factory, PF Chang's or Red Robin. None of them are great but it's acceptable. I would never go to Applebee's and the like.

Chik-fil-A for, as others have pointed out, their politics.
I ate way too much McDonalds growing up (there was one in the parking lot of the store I worked through high school and college). Just the odor gives me stomach aches.
There are some specific restaurants that I won't partake of again, but not part of a chain and which mostly no longer exist. For instance, the coffee shop at the Sands in Las Vegas (long gone, thankfully). I had a Caesar salad and thought I'd never stop vomiting.
I'm curious about R30's experience at In-n-Out, who is actually a good employer (I have an attorney friend who represents them and they are quite reasonable). I've noticed the religious crap on the packaging but they aren't as outspoken and bigoted as CFA. If they've donated to or supported anti-LGB causes, I'd like to hear (although I only eat at InO when travelling, so not so much any more).

Yeah, Cracker Barrel had issues way back in the 90s with gay issues. They've cleaned up their act since then. To me, it's the food that is unacceptable. For a restaurant chain specializing in Southern comfort food, it sure is lousy. How do you fuck up biscuits and gravy? I can always find something decent to eat (grilled chicken tenderloins with pinto beans/chow-chow relish and fried okra) but it's mostly crap. The iced tea is good, I suppose.

Anywhere where the staff is expected to line dance.
Anywhere where the apostrophe crops up at the end of a word on the menu "sauces made fer dippin'"
Bullshit country-western affectation (see above).
Places where the rafters are jammed with "old timey" mass-produced Americana - pedal cars, airplane propellers, folk art flags, etc.
Places where large blue drinks are served in glasses the size of NASA helmets (but contain less alcohol than lemon scented furniture polish).
Anywhere where the special cocktail is served on fire.
Anywhere where the music/ambient noise level is equal to an 8.8 tremor.
Places popular with chubby fake blondes named Candy and the slope-browed bros who love them.
Places where the "tasting menu" consists of 45 courses, each one small enough to be inserted into the tear duct of your choice.
Places with cement floors, Edison bulbs and unwashed staff who serve you Huetres l'Arbat in a wooden bucket.
Steakhouses where the shitty creamed spinach costs $43.
Places only still open because Frank Sinatra beat up Eddie Fisher on clams night in 1956.
Anywhere on top of a famous skyscraper or adjacent to a famous view (less about the place and more about the Insta-tards posing in front of the windows).
Any airport cocktail lounge.

I once had dinner at a pleasant-looking Italian place near the Theater District in NYC.
It existed to give retired lawyers and their wives somewhere to gather before and after the theater.
I am fairly sure the pasta was sawn off loaves of congealed muck made earlier that decade.

Papa John's - shitty pizza and asshole Republican, lying owner.
In-n-Out. They only make 5 things and none of them well. Plus the creepy bible verses on the containers is bullshit. Californians are delusional about the taste of this food - it's truly inexplicable.
Chick-fil-A. I don't support people who actively wage war against me. It's not even that good.
Olive Garden - expensive, overly salty, BAD FOOD. Literally, ANY local Italian restaurant would have better options. Unbelievable.

Papa John’s ousted that asshole years ago. I started ordering there again, but rarely.
I agree about In-n-Out. The only time I go there is when rabid out of town visitors just have to have it. Funny I never noticed Bible verses. Are they on the bottoms of the drinks or what?

R117, the Bible Verses are in very small print, and yes, they're on the bottom of the cups.
In-n-Out fries are so bad, I can't imagine why or how anyone pays for them and eats them. Just awful. The burgers are okay, but they don't make up for the fries.

I ate at Chick Fil A at the airport when coming home from Thanksgiving and couldn’t believe how bland and lame the food was. Also expensive and small portions. It’s a total rip off and there are people lined up to give them their money. I don’t get it.

Any pizza chain although Pizza Hut was good in Europe
I avoid all chains except McDonald’s for breakfast only and Jersey Mike’s (I’m addicted to their turkey sandwich.)

Some American fast food chains serve edible food in their European operations because in some countries they are forced to buy local ingredients, which isn't frankenfied. Subway is still repulsive, natürlich.

I haven't been to an IHOP in twenty years since I found a long black hair in my omelet and they wanted me to pay for the entire platter because I "ate part of the omelet". Silly me, had I known the hair was in the middle, I wouldn't have started eating at the outer edge, I would have cut right into the middle! It turned into quite a standoff with the franchise owner and his beastly wife yelling and threatening to call the police if I didn't pay. Go ahead, call the police, I don't care, Anyway, I didn't pay but not due to any graciousness on their part.
A year later this awful franchise couple built a house on my street. A gaudy monstrosity of a house that was totally out of place in the neighborhood. They turned out to be vile people and were hated by all. I told my hair story to everyone and no one on the street went to their restaurant.

Years ago when Regis was still there, Kelly Ripa told a story from her AMC days. A bunch of the actors, including Susan Lucci, went to the upstate NY wedding of a crew member. There was a gap of several hours between the ceremony and the reception and they were in an unfamiliar town. One of the younger actors had spotted an Applebee's as they drove to the church and said "Let's go to Applebee's in the meantime" and Susan Lucci said "what's Applebees?". Susan was the Dowager Countess of Grantham before there even was a Dowager Countess and her "what's a weekend".

Chili's was my favorite chain restaurant UNTIL they stopped selling their "Original Chicken Crispers." This was my longtime go-to guilty pleasure. The tempura batter set them apart from every other restaurant's chicken fingers. I thought it was a PR move and they'd bring them back after a while but NOPE, still off the menu.

Applebees, TGIF, Ruby Tuesdays and similar eateries are so heavy on potatoes and cheese as sides. Fried beef, chicken , seafood and pork. And desserts are way too heavy.

Subway. Years ago I was ordering there, and they were running low on turkey in the sandwich bar. The server pulled out a column of turkey packaged in plastic with the lower third also filled with a pink juice. He sliced the bottom of the package open over the hole where the turkey went and let the pink juice and stack of turkey fall into the hole. He gave it all a slight push down into the hole and then continued making sandwiches. I haven't been to a Subway since.

The right wingers patronize CFA, R138, specifically because of their vile beliefs. Although, CFA themselves experienced a mini-boycott earlier this year for implementing a DEI program just like every other single corporation in the U.S.
I live in a right-wing state (FML), and these assholes line up around the block when there are better chicken tender drive-thrus just across the street. It's all about proving their bigoted cred.

While it is true, R148, that many right wingers patronize CFA for obvious reasons, they are not the only people who make up the long lines for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also hire LGBTQ people (I've seen queens behind the register there at times myself).

Sorry to have to be the one to inform you, princess, but within the millions of customers who patronize CFA, you can best believe that many of them are LGBTQ. They hire gay, and in 2019 they stopped donating to The Salvation Army and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, two Christian organizations that oppose same-sex marriage.

What do you mean, R156? Are doubting that the popularity of CFA is due in large part to right winger patronage? It absolutely is true in the South, particularly for white, churchy types. It is a THING. These dumbasses proudly support CFA because they think they are "owning the libs". Trust me, they will tell you just as surely as they brag about how "no one is going to take away their guns" and bitch about "pronouns" (even though absolutely no one in their circles asks them to use certain pronouns). Yeah, there are some others who go to CFA for their chicken minis or whatever, but down here the majority of these dumb fucks go there as an FU.
Bully for you if you live somewhere where that is not the case and shame on me for living so long in this godforsaken area of the country that I even know this.
