Name Some Restaurants You Absolutely Refuse To Enter, Even If You Are Starving To Death

Here are my choices:

KFC.....Burger King......IHOP.........Cafe Cluny ( the one in the West Village. Owned by the ex-wife of that Jew-hating scum. Keith McNally)....i've had better food in a greasy spoon in Hell For Certain, Kentucky, than at her hot mess

Sorry?

by Anonymousreply 1November 26, 2023 11:36 PM

None. I can find something good anywhere.

by Anonymousreply 3November 26, 2023 11:42 PM

Chick Fill A for their hateful, antigay politics. Never had it, never will.

Applebees because it is disgusting.

by Anonymousreply 4November 26, 2023 11:42 PM

Those aren't restaurants. They are fast food places. The only fast food place I would eat at is El Pollo Loco simply because they are a tad healthier than the other crap. I go there maybe once a year.

The other places are cancer and obesity causing crap. I cook most of my meals at home and on the weekends maybe go to a sit down restaurant with table service. I would never go to Applebees or Chili's. Most chain restaurants are bad.

by Anonymousreply 5November 27, 2023 12:02 AM

McDonald's. I haven't been in one (nor eaten from one) in more than 30 years. No great principal, I just think their food is disgusting and their advertising campaigns likewise. It was never a place I went to by choice and I think the daily smell of a restaurant next to my office building put me off them completely.

McDonald's international ubiquity puts me off, too, so likewise I avoid Subway and Pizza Hut, both of which have bad food.

I very rarely go to a fast food restaurant - once or twice a year - so it's not as though I'm making some sacrifice.

As for principal, I'd never go to a Chick-Fil-A, or to any other business that was anti-gay.

by Anonymousreply 6November 27, 2023 12:03 AM

Burger King - always gives me indigestion.

KFC always ends in disappointment.

by Anonymousreply 7November 27, 2023 12:04 AM

Popeye’s gave me indigestion the one time I had it and I won’t go back.

Chick-fil-A or however the fuck it’s spelled: obvious reasons.

Subway: I hate the smell of it.

IHOP: bad food, bad service.

Applebees, Chili’s, any restaurant like that: vile. (Cheesecake Factory is the exception but I don’t have one nearby and haven’t been in years.)

by Anonymousreply 8November 27, 2023 1:49 AM

Most chain restaurants, because eating that cheaply cannot in any way shape or form consist of food of any quality. Most of what's been mentioned are hideous slop houses I would never visit.

by Anonymousreply 9November 27, 2023 1:51 AM

Arbys, burger king.

by Anonymousreply 10November 27, 2023 2:22 AM

McDonald’s burgers taste like shit- vile really. Not remotely like a hamburger made with chopped g by red. Their milk shakes barely taste like what they are. I don’t get it. BK is just a tad better, or not as vile.

Its a whole other standard if food, if you want to call it that.

by Anonymousreply 11November 27, 2023 3:23 AM

Not a fan of MuckDonalds, it really is a desperate last resort for me if absolutely everything else is shut.

We dont have Chik fil A here but I wouldnt set foot in one of those places for reasons what have been mentioned above, would go to McDonalds first

Have done Burger King which is one level up from McDonalds for me, the desperate second to last resort along with Kentucky Fucked Duck as we call it out here

Subway actually isnt to bad, I've gone there willingly in the past, you can actually put together something pretty healthy from there if you make good choices. Would definitely pick that over McDonalds Burger King or KFC

by Anonymousreply 12November 27, 2023 5:57 AM

R6, if you're going to use big words like ubiquity, you should learn the difference between "principal" and "principle."

by Anonymousreply 13November 27, 2023 5:58 AM

Carl’s Junior is pretty horrible.

by Anonymousreply 14November 27, 2023 5:59 AM

I’ve only been to a Boston Market once because I thought home-style comfort food sounded nice.

I think that may be the worst restaurant ever created. I know Olive Garden gets a bad rap, but I’d eat an Olive Garden if it was the only option. If Boston Market was the only option, I’d just starve.

And I like IHOP 😝. (And I’ve posted about that and got a TON of shit for it).

by Anonymousreply 15November 27, 2023 6:18 AM

I like Boston Market, dislike IHOP.

by Anonymousreply 16November 27, 2023 6:21 AM

I used to love IHOP. But man they went downhill starting about ten years ago or so. The last time I went (ten years ago) the water in the water glass tasted like mop water (undrinkable), and the pancakes they served me were raw in the middle. I was so disgusted I just left. Paid the bill, but zero tip.

by Anonymousreply 17November 27, 2023 6:24 AM

I won't go to Chick-Fil-A or Cracker Barrel.

by Anonymousreply 18November 27, 2023 6:25 AM

I worked at both Applebee's and Chili's. Their food it usually fresh, not frozen, unless it's something like mozzarella sticks or potato skins. The steaks and burgers are grilled to order. I don't get the bashing.

I haven't been to KFC, since I have a Popeyes nearby, but it doesn't look appetizing. Ditto Domino's. That was my favorite in college 20 years ago, but it's at the bottom of the pizza chains now.

by Anonymousreply 19November 27, 2023 6:42 AM

Any chain restaurant I avoid. I'd rather hit a local diner if I want something inexpensive and simple.

by Anonymousreply 20November 27, 2023 7:01 AM

Olive Garden

by Anonymousreply 21November 27, 2023 7:41 AM

Ruby Tuesday

by Anonymousreply 22November 27, 2023 8:11 AM

Schrafft's, because my fiancée made fun of me speaking French to the counterman.

by Anonymousreply 23November 27, 2023 2:21 PM

You'd be surprised what people will put in their mouths when they're desperate.

by Anonymousreply 24November 27, 2023 2:34 PM

I'll pee anywhere I have to.

by Anonymousreply 25November 27, 2023 2:42 PM

[quote]Ditto Domino's. That was my favorite in college 20 years ago, but it's at the bottom of the pizza chains now.

You have that weirdly backwards. A long while ago, Dominos was at teh bottom of the pizza chains (cardboard with ketchup, was the common description). It was awful. They changed their recipe about 20 years ago ish (2008?), and now it's pretty good. WAY better than Pizza Hut, which has gone way, way, way down hill over those same 20 years.

Of course, most independent pizza places are better, but Domino's is actually decent these days.

by Anonymousreply 26November 27, 2023 2:43 PM

Anything fastfood.

by Anonymousreply 27November 27, 2023 2:44 PM

I will not eat at:

Kenny Rogers Roasters

Howard Johnson’s

Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour

Burger Chef

Sambo’s

Red Barn

Because the food is NOT fresh.

by Anonymousreply 28November 27, 2023 2:59 PM

About once a year, I'll have an Arby's market sandwich. They're usually pretty tasty. I also like breakfast at Cracker Barrel, every year or two.

If I'm eating out, my preference is Asian or Greek/Mediterranean. Order online, pick it up, it's my version of fast food.

by Anonymousreply 29November 27, 2023 2:59 PM

I'm in an area filled with chain restaurants, and fast food, but the list of ones I'll eat at is much shorter than the ones I won't.

Most fast food is off the list entirely for me due to dietary restrictions. But I would never eat at Chick-Fil-A or In & Out Burger because of their religious BS.

KFC would blow out my remaining organs, same with Long John Silver's, Taco Bell, and most pizza places.

I dislike McD's overall but about twice a year breakfast items and/or a burger hits the spot. Chipotle is OK. (I have to check out El Pollo Loco as recommended above).

I used to do Denny's every so often but a Moons over my Hammy sandwich went from $14 to $21 so....nah.

Every once in a very blue moon, I've joined friends or we've ordered in from Cheesecake Factory, PF Chang's or Red Robin. None of them are great but it's acceptable. I would never go to Applebee's and the like.

by Anonymousreply 30November 27, 2023 3:04 PM

All the fast-food places with the exception of Culver's.

Applebee's.

Chain pizza joints.

Old Country Buffet and its ilk.

by Anonymousreply 31November 27, 2023 3:07 PM

R31 yes Culver's is decent. Portillos is OK though again, not for the health conscious.......

by Anonymousreply 32November 27, 2023 3:08 PM

Another for Subway.

by Anonymousreply 33November 27, 2023 3:10 PM

HAGS

by Anonymousreply 34November 27, 2023 3:23 PM

[quote]All the fast-food places with the exception of Culver's.

I really like Culver's. Eat there 2-3 times a month.

by Anonymousreply 35November 27, 2023 3:23 PM

Chik-fil-A for, as others have pointed out, their politics.

I ate way too much McDonalds growing up (there was one in the parking lot of the store I worked through high school and college). Just the odor gives me stomach aches.

There are some specific restaurants that I won't partake of again, but not part of a chain and which mostly no longer exist. For instance, the coffee shop at the Sands in Las Vegas (long gone, thankfully). I had a Caesar salad and thought I'd never stop vomiting.

I'm curious about R30's experience at In-n-Out, who is actually a good employer (I have an attorney friend who represents them and they are quite reasonable). I've noticed the religious crap on the packaging but they aren't as outspoken and bigoted as CFA. If they've donated to or supported anti-LGB causes, I'd like to hear (although I only eat at InO when travelling, so not so much any more).

by Anonymousreply 36November 27, 2023 3:30 PM

Martín Berasategui. I don't like molecular cuisine, even when someone else is paying, and Berasategui snubbed me and my Saudi friends at a party on the Al Salamah yacht.

by Anonymousreply 37November 27, 2023 3:55 PM

McDonald's. Just the smell of their food makes me feel ill. It's absolute garbage.

I've only had Taco Bell twice in my life and both times it gave me a case of the shits that lasted for hours.

by Anonymousreply 38November 27, 2023 4:34 PM

Burger King. I can't believe it's still in business.... is it a giant money laundering operation? Last time I ate there, I was repeating that fake liquid smoke they put on their burgers. Also I hate raw onions on a burger (expect for McDonalds, as I enjoy the tiny diced onions on their McDouble).

by Anonymousreply 39November 27, 2023 4:43 PM

I've got a friend who uses Taco Bell to cure his chronic constipation.

by Anonymousreply 40November 27, 2023 4:43 PM

Domino's is always a last resort for me, when it's late and nothing else is open except McDonald's which I can't stand. Domino's isn't the greatest, but it's tolerable if I'm desperately hungry.

by Anonymousreply 41November 27, 2023 4:47 PM

Chic Fil A, Domino's, Zaxby's, Taco Bell, and Olive Garden.

by Anonymousreply 42November 27, 2023 4:51 PM

Not a food snob but I'm permanently done with McDonalds'.

The food was cheap and fun. Now it's just expensive and shitty.

by Anonymousreply 43November 27, 2023 4:56 PM

Chick-Fil-A and Taco Bell for their anti-gay politics. In-N-Out for their conservative politics, anti-vax blatant disregard for public health, and not even try to be subtle Christian propaganda.

Arby's is gross and doesn't have anything I like ("I'm so hungry I could eat at Arby's!")

KFC isn't what it once was years ago, no thanks. I like Popeyes but it doesn't agree with me unless I get the plain and not the spicy one.

by Anonymousreply 44November 27, 2023 5:02 PM

Is this a poliltical statement or a culinary one?

by Anonymousreply 45November 27, 2023 5:02 PM

I had a BK breakfast not long ago and was surprised that it was decent. But I haven't had their regular items in years. I loved their chicken sandwiches back in the day but as with most fast food places, they started to cheap out on the quality.

by Anonymousreply 46November 27, 2023 5:06 PM

I used to indulge bacon, egg and cheese from MacDonald's once in a while when I woke up early to run errands, and they were good. Haven't been to Mickey D's since before the pandemic.

by Anonymousreply 47November 27, 2023 5:08 PM

You lying fat whores, you know your big fat faces fill up Chrissy Metz in these places, then you talk Ozempic! A fat whore is a fat whore I guess.

by Anonymousreply 48November 27, 2023 5:15 PM

r44 Taco Bell is owned by PepsiCo. Please elaborate on their "anti-gay politics."

by Anonymousreply 49November 27, 2023 5:28 PM

Subway.

by Anonymousreply 50November 27, 2023 5:31 PM

[quote]Is this a poliltical statement or a culinary one?

Everything is a political statement once the eateries rolled out their messages.

by Anonymousreply 51November 27, 2023 5:40 PM

I won't enter them... I go in the drive thru

by Anonymousreply 52November 27, 2023 5:43 PM

La Grenouille ever since Charles Masson left due to his ongoing feud with brother Philippe.

Any NOBU, anywhere in the world. Yes they’re always dependably good, but why go to what’s become a chain restaurant when you can support a top notch independently owned local Japanese restaurant.

Balthazar, as despite the still great people watching, the food is no longer very good and ranges from mediocre to down right shitty.

by Anonymousreply 53November 27, 2023 5:53 PM

KFC used to have the best damned biscuits! I haven't been there in years, but when I was a teenager I'd get a box of extra crispy and some slaw and biscuits.

by Anonymousreply 54November 27, 2023 5:54 PM

Cracker Barrel. If there was a way to make every location disappear along with their patrons, this world would be a slightly better place.

by Anonymousreply 55November 27, 2023 7:06 PM

I avoid chains entirely. but when you're stuck in an airport for hours, you might have little choice.

by Anonymousreply 56November 27, 2023 7:21 PM

Mildred's. Chickens and pies and kitchens and everything that smells of grease.

by Anonymousreply 57November 27, 2023 7:53 PM

Got food poisoning twice from Dom’s in Los Feliz. So probably there.

by Anonymousreply 58November 27, 2023 7:54 PM

If you can find a Popeyes with quality control, they're pretty good although far from healthy. I get the biscuits and red beans and rice every couple of months.

by Anonymousreply 59November 27, 2023 8:13 PM

White Castle is a no-no for me. Not for snobby reasons but because those steamed onions destroy me. If I eat one slider I will burp them up for a day later.

by Anonymousreply 60November 27, 2023 8:26 PM

Subway. The smell is disgusting. Plus, there are so many other decent options - whether local or chain.

Arby's. Does anyone actually eat at these? I laughed at the poster upthread who mentioned money laundering operations because that is the thought that pops in my head every time I drive past an Arby's. Nihilist Arby's, however, was hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 63November 27, 2023 9:29 PM

R18, Cracker Barrel has turned around and is a strong supporter of LGBTQ causes.

It is good to keep current on how businesses change with the times and learn from previous errors in assumptions and policies.

In fact, Cracker Barrel has been attacked for its support of gays, as this story shows.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 64November 27, 2023 9:34 PM

Yeah, Cracker Barrel had issues way back in the 90s with gay issues. They've cleaned up their act since then. To me, it's the food that is unacceptable. For a restaurant chain specializing in Southern comfort food, it sure is lousy. How do you fuck up biscuits and gravy? I can always find something decent to eat (grilled chicken tenderloins with pinto beans/chow-chow relish and fried okra) but it's mostly crap. The iced tea is good, I suppose.

by Anonymousreply 65November 27, 2023 9:44 PM

R 49 there's Taco Bell's long track record of voting Republican and unfair labor practices. Then, there's this:

[quote]Also I hate raw onions on a burger (expect for McDonalds, as I enjoy the tiny diced onions on their McDouble).

Those are dehydrated onions. They come in big paper bags, that are dumped into a container and water is added. They sit in the walk-in fridge for a day in order to "rehydrate" before use. Just FYI.

by Anonymousreply 67November 27, 2023 9:47 PM

I kinda have to smirk at you tender hot-house flowers with your delicate constitutions where eating at Taco Bell just "wrecks" you. Are you serious?

I can eat there three times a week without any issues. At all. Ever.

(not that I do... at MOST once a week, and to be honest, it's more like at most twice a month lately... it's very close, relatively cheap, and convenient).

by Anonymousreply 68November 27, 2023 9:52 PM

Chick Fill A unless I'm literally starving to death. For the same reason, Wendy's and Carl's Jr.

by Anonymousreply 69November 27, 2023 9:59 PM

Five Guys. Not into burgers.

by Anonymousreply 70November 27, 2023 10:01 PM

Tad's Steakhouse.....when they were $1.19 back in '64.......What do they cost now?.......Oh, shit. I'm dating myself

Bad food most of which is flash frozen and cooked in convection ovens also Olive Garden: a gluten and carb factory

by Anonymousreply 76November 27, 2023 10:44 PM

GOLDEN CORRAL = pigs at a filthy trough.

by Anonymousreply 77November 27, 2023 10:46 PM

R56, you can always find a yogurt, a banana and protein bars at an airport. And most gas station convenience stores.

Fast food is hit or miss with my digestive system. I would never chance it before getting on a plane or on a road trip. I actually got food poisoning from Burger King two hours into an 8 hour road trip. I ended up checking into a motel off the highway because I was so sick and couldn’t continue driving. Lesson learned.

by Anonymousreply 78November 27, 2023 10:51 PM

R73 is quite the pretentiously elitist snob.

by Anonymousreply 79November 27, 2023 11:46 PM

Five Guys is OK, but overpriced. Plus, if you cut you burger in half and save some for later, it turns into a soggy mess in the microwave.

by Anonymousreply 80November 27, 2023 11:51 PM

White Castle

by Anonymousreply 81November 27, 2023 11:53 PM

You're right, R65. When traveling in areas where a Cracker Barrel seemed like a possible go-to for not-quite fast food, I was not happy. Terrible food for three dinners (over weeks) and one breakfast. Chicken and dumplings had splinters of bone, no chicken to speak of and soapy "gravy." Even a salad I tried last was not good.

The shop, however, had its good points.

by Anonymousreply 82November 28, 2023 12:03 AM

Big Dick’s

by Anonymousreply 83November 28, 2023 12:10 AM

[quote] I actually got food poisoning from Burger King two hours into an 8 hour road trip.

I'm not going to say anything complimentary about fast food places, but you can get food poisoning at high end places. I once got a virulent case of food poisoning that almost put me in the hospital, from a high end restaurant. Fast food places wreak havoc on your digestive system because it's all deep fried, transfat garbage.

by Anonymousreply 84November 28, 2023 12:11 AM

Why, R79? Because I choose not to poison my body or dine amongst criminals and trashy truckers?

by Anonymousreply 85November 28, 2023 12:13 AM

R85 is R73

by Anonymousreply 86November 28, 2023 12:13 AM

Olive Garden. Just no.

by Anonymousreply 87November 28, 2023 12:15 AM

Itchy’s

by Anonymousreply 88November 28, 2023 12:17 AM

R85 why do you think truckers are trashy? Honest question.

by Anonymousreply 89November 28, 2023 12:25 AM

Because I'm Canadian, R89, and saw them in action during the pandemic and what they did in Ottawa a couple of Februarys ago. I'm not talking about the Punjabi truckers btw, just the stereotypical white-trash, conservative ones.

by Anonymousreply 90November 28, 2023 12:29 AM

The other day I had Burger King at the airport (the AMEX lounge had a waiting list!). I was starving and it was the first place I could find. It was perfectly bland (whopper with cheese no onions no pickles), but the fries were okay. The problem is that I never feel well after eating at these places.

by Anonymousreply 91November 28, 2023 12:34 AM

I miss the old Sizzler’s salad bars. Those were good, IMO. The Ruby Tuesday salad bar is not nearly as good as the Sizzler’s was.

by Anonymousreply 92November 28, 2023 1:11 AM

[quote]Why, [R79]? Because I choose not to poison my body or dine amongst criminals and trashy truckers?

Criminals! Trashy truckers! Ooh, get her!

by Anonymousreply 94November 28, 2023 1:30 AM

Anywhere where the staff is expected to line dance.

Anywhere where the apostrophe crops up at the end of a word on the menu "sauces made fer dippin'"

Bullshit country-western affectation (see above).

Places where the rafters are jammed with "old timey" mass-produced Americana - pedal cars, airplane propellers, folk art flags, etc.

Places where large blue drinks are served in glasses the size of NASA helmets (but contain less alcohol than lemon scented furniture polish).

Anywhere where the special cocktail is served on fire.

Anywhere where the music/ambient noise level is equal to an 8.8 tremor.

Places popular with chubby fake blondes named Candy and the slope-browed bros who love them.

Places where the "tasting menu" consists of 45 courses, each one small enough to be inserted into the tear duct of your choice.

Places with cement floors, Edison bulbs and unwashed staff who serve you Huetres l'Arbat in a wooden bucket.

Steakhouses where the shitty creamed spinach costs $43.

Places only still open because Frank Sinatra beat up Eddie Fisher on clams night in 1956.

Anywhere on top of a famous skyscraper or adjacent to a famous view (less about the place and more about the Insta-tards posing in front of the windows).

Any airport cocktail lounge.

by Anonymousreply 95November 28, 2023 1:44 AM

Chili's. I also detest fast food. Disgusting crap.

by Anonymousreply 96November 28, 2023 1:46 AM

I am sure I will get an Oh Mary for this, don't care, but I haven't been in any restaurant since Covid hit and haven't gotten any takeout except for the one time I was really wanting an Arby's Fish Sandwich, it wasn't nearly as good as I remembered won't do that again. I just don't like eating food that I don't know how it was prepared any more. Don't miss it one bit, I would prefer to make what I eat, it isn't that difficult. Plus I am off bread, pasta and sugar, that doesn't leave many options in restaurants.

I was watching an old stand up routine of Chappelle's where he was explaining the concept of a pimp's "bottom bitch" to the audience.

He said: "She's even the bitch that helps him keep the other bitches in line. If the pimp was McDonald's, then the bottom bitch is his French fries."

Which seems correct to me

by Anonymousreply 100November 28, 2023 1:56 AM

I don’t hold it against you r97. I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve been out to eat since 3/20. My bf and I went to a place that we loved on Sunday, it’s a bit far but I think we romanticized it because after finally getting back, the ambiance and vibe were the same but the food was just meh. I think we got used to eating better food that we cooked, better than what we can get out.

by Anonymousreply 101November 28, 2023 1:56 AM

Chick-Fil-A

Cracker Barrel

IHOP

by Anonymousreply 102November 28, 2023 2:06 AM

Sometimes I'm amazed at all the various fast food franchises in the US, and I wonder who's eating there. I guess that sounds and probably is snobby, but each franchise must have its own diehard adherents, and I can't think of more than a few I've ever been to

by Anonymousreply 103November 28, 2023 2:07 AM

Burger King. The smell is nauseating.

by Anonymousreply 104November 28, 2023 2:08 AM

Most Chinese restaurants. Bad hygiene.

by Anonymousreply 105November 28, 2023 2:15 AM

Chick-Fil-A is the only "restaurant" I refuse to patronize on principle.

Cracker Barrel until a decade or so ago. When it decided to enter Modern Times, I stopped there while on a road trip. I might go again, but I doubt it. The coffee was not terrible.

Red Lobster: I have eaten there maybe three times in my life. During my last visit – probably 20 years ago – I found worms in a breaded shrimp. There is zero chance I will ever go again. I know this can happen at any place that serves frozen seafood that they pop until a fryer, but I'm about to thrown up just remembering it now.

I had a pretty good airport breakfast at a Baja Fresh in LAX, IIRC. Black beans, scrambled eggs, salsa, home fries, guacamole, sour cream.

by Anonymousreply 109November 28, 2023 2:51 AM

Any restaurant owned by the Bastianich clan. Cheap, stupid peasant family.

by Anonymousreply 110November 28, 2023 2:55 AM

I had a bad meal at a Wolfgang Puck restaurant in Orlando. I ordered seared tuna and it was full of sinew (thick sheets of fish gristle). It was inedible. I showed my waiter / waitress what I thought was wrong with it. I did send it back. The staff didn’t seem fazed at what the kitchen was pushing out.

I think that was the only time I have ever sent something back.

I once had dinner at a pleasant-looking Italian place near the Theater District in NYC.

It existed to give retired lawyers and their wives somewhere to gather before and after the theater.

I am fairly sure the pasta was sawn off loaves of congealed muck made earlier that decade.

Papa John's - shitty pizza and asshole Republican, lying owner.

In-n-Out. They only make 5 things and none of them well. Plus the creepy bible verses on the containers is bullshit. Californians are delusional about the taste of this food - it's truly inexplicable.

Chick-fil-A. I don't support people who actively wage war against me. It's not even that good.

Olive Garden - expensive, overly salty, BAD FOOD. Literally, ANY local Italian restaurant would have better options. Unbelievable.

by Anonymousreply 116November 28, 2023 4:30 AM

Papa John’s ousted that asshole years ago. I started ordering there again, but rarely.

I agree about In-n-Out. The only time I go there is when rabid out of town visitors just have to have it. Funny I never noticed Bible verses. Are they on the bottoms of the drinks or what?

by Anonymousreply 117November 28, 2023 5:00 AM

And R85 comes along to cement the fact that R73 is quite the pretentiously elitist snob.

Jesus Christ, listen to yourself, you pretentiously arrogant twat.

You're not all that.

by Anonymousreply 118November 28, 2023 6:51 AM

R117, the Bible Verses are in very small print, and yes, they're on the bottom of the cups.

In-n-Out fries are so bad, I can't imagine why or how anyone pays for them and eats them. Just awful. The burgers are okay, but they don't make up for the fries.

I ate at Chick Fil A at the airport when coming home from Thanksgiving and couldn’t believe how bland and lame the food was. Also expensive and small portions. It’s a total rip off and there are people lined up to give them their money. I don’t get it.

by Anonymousreply 122November 28, 2023 9:08 AM

r66 Now please explain why you think Taco Bell is allowed to vote.

by Anonymousreply 123November 28, 2023 12:01 PM

Olive Garden, Subway,…were good years ago. Now terrible.

Any pizza chain although Pizza Hut was good in Europe

I avoid all chains except McDonald’s for breakfast only and Jersey Mike’s (I’m addicted to their turkey sandwich.)

by Anonymousreply 124November 28, 2023 12:17 PM

I've never been to a Waffle House, they look very trashy but I see some celebs go there

by Anonymousreply 125November 28, 2023 12:33 PM

Some American fast food chains serve edible food in their European operations because in some countries they are forced to buy local ingredients, which isn't frankenfied. Subway is still repulsive, natürlich.

by Anonymousreply 126November 28, 2023 12:45 PM

I haven't been to an IHOP in twenty years since I found a long black hair in my omelet and they wanted me to pay for the entire platter because I "ate part of the omelet". Silly me, had I known the hair was in the middle, I wouldn't have started eating at the outer edge, I would have cut right into the middle! It turned into quite a standoff with the franchise owner and his beastly wife yelling and threatening to call the police if I didn't pay. Go ahead, call the police, I don't care, Anyway, I didn't pay but not due to any graciousness on their part.

A year later this awful franchise couple built a house on my street. A gaudy monstrosity of a house that was totally out of place in the neighborhood. They turned out to be vile people and were hated by all. I told my hair story to everyone and no one on the street went to their restaurant.

Years ago when Regis was still there, Kelly Ripa told a story from her AMC days. A bunch of the actors, including Susan Lucci, went to the upstate NY wedding of a crew member. There was a gap of several hours between the ceremony and the reception and they were in an unfamiliar town. One of the younger actors had spotted an Applebee's as they drove to the church and said "Let's go to Applebee's in the meantime" and Susan Lucci said "what's Applebees?". Susan was the Dowager Countess of Grantham before there even was a Dowager Countess and her "what's a weekend".

by Anonymousreply 130November 28, 2023 2:17 PM

When I used to drink, Taco Bell was great hangover food.

I hate Subway.

by Anonymousreply 131November 28, 2023 3:47 PM

Chili's was my favorite chain restaurant UNTIL they stopped selling their "Original Chicken Crispers." This was my longtime go-to guilty pleasure. The tempura batter set them apart from every other restaurant's chicken fingers. I thought it was a PR move and they'd bring them back after a while but NOPE, still off the menu.

by Anonymousreply 132November 28, 2023 3:51 PM

Applebees, TGIF, Ruby Tuesdays and similar eateries are so heavy on potatoes and cheese as sides. Fried beef, chicken , seafood and pork. And desserts are way too heavy.

by Anonymousreply 134November 29, 2023 1:36 AM

R134, it's weird how you say that like it's a bad thing...

by Anonymousreply 135November 29, 2023 3:44 AM

Subway. Years ago I was ordering there, and they were running low on turkey in the sandwich bar. The server pulled out a column of turkey packaged in plastic with the lower third also filled with a pink juice. He sliced the bottom of the package open over the hole where the turkey went and let the pink juice and stack of turkey fall into the hole. He gave it all a slight push down into the hole and then continued making sandwiches. I haven't been to a Subway since.

by Anonymousreply 136November 29, 2023 9:14 AM

Jollibee. I'm sure there are lovely dishes in Fillipino cuisine, but even aside from the fact that it's fast food, it's some of the most disgusting shit I've ever seen.

by Anonymousreply 137November 29, 2023 10:05 AM

For all the never Chick-Fil-A-ers in this thread, there are about a gazillion people who patronize them on a daily basis. It’s the #1 chicken chain in America.

KFC is the most sickening fast food chain in the world. They buy from horrifically abusive and nasty farms. PETA has busted them over and over and nothing changes. I would starve before eating there.

McD's only for breakfast. I really like their coffee and biscuits.

by Anonymousreply 146November 29, 2023 5:30 PM

R146 my mom likes McDonalds coffee. I think it’s gag inducing.

KFC - I choose not to go there for the same reasons.

The right wingers patronize CFA, R138, specifically because of their vile beliefs. Although, CFA themselves experienced a mini-boycott earlier this year for implementing a DEI program just like every other single corporation in the U.S.

I live in a right-wing state (FML), and these assholes line up around the block when there are better chicken tender drive-thrus just across the street. It's all about proving their bigoted cred.

We used to live around the block from IHOP. Went once. After, we created the “50 cent special — all you can eat off the floor”

by Anonymousreply 149November 29, 2023 5:39 PM

While it is true, R148, that many right wingers patronize CFA for obvious reasons, they are not the only people who make up the long lines for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also hire LGBTQ people (I've seen queens behind the register there at times myself).

by Anonymousreply 150November 29, 2023 5:58 PM

I lived in Orlando in the late mid-late 90s and I don't remember Chick Fil A being as popular as it is now. I remember going there once in a while because a friend liked it but never thought of it as anything special.

[quote]At least [R150] owns the fact s/he is a fat whore with no principles or self respect.

Sorry to have to be the one to inform you, princess, but within the millions of customers who patronize CFA, you can best believe that many of them are LGBTQ. They hire gay, and in 2019 they stopped donating to The Salvation Army and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, two Christian organizations that oppose same-sex marriage.

by Anonymousreply 153November 29, 2023 8:33 PM

I was on a road trip this past summer and stopped at a KFC for the first time in ages. I was STARVING and I didn't see anywhere else to go in the immediate vicinity. I had the basic chicken sandwich and it was disgusting, like chewing on rubber. Never again, no matter how hungry I am.

by Anonymousreply 154November 29, 2023 8:39 PM

Jollibee's looks kind of weird, we don't have on here

by Anonymousreply 155November 29, 2023 8:45 PM

R148 what are you on about?

by Anonymousreply 156November 29, 2023 8:48 PM

What do you mean, R156? Are doubting that the popularity of CFA is due in large part to right winger patronage? It absolutely is true in the South, particularly for white, churchy types. It is a THING. These dumbasses proudly support CFA because they think they are "owning the libs". Trust me, they will tell you just as surely as they brag about how "no one is going to take away their guns" and bitch about "pronouns" (even though absolutely no one in their circles asks them to use certain pronouns). Yeah, there are some others who go to CFA for their chicken minis or whatever, but down here the majority of these dumb fucks go there as an FU.

Bully for you if you live somewhere where that is not the case and shame on me for living so long in this godforsaken area of the country that I even know this.

by Anonymousreply 157November 29, 2023 9:46 PM

Yeah I've had a CFA worker hit me up on Grindr minutes after I left the drive-thru, and another friend me on Facebook.

by Anonymousreply 158November 29, 2023 11:10 PM

Same as gay people who voted for Trump.
