Former first lady Melania Trump is expected to join her contemporaries and other leaders at a memorial tribute service for the former first lady Rosalynn Carter.

Trump will be joined by other living former first ladies – including Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush – the Carter Center said Monday in a news release announcing the guest list for the Tuesday service at Emory University in Atlanta.

In addition to the former first ladies, President Biden, First Lady Jill Biden as well as Vice President Kamala Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff are all slated to attend the invitation-only service. Former President Donald Trump was not among the guests listed to attend the event.

The Atlanta funeral is to begin at 1:00.

The Bidens, Clintons, & Michelle Obama arrive in Atlanta for the funeral. I'm surprised Pres. Obama is not attending, nor is Pres. Bush, although Mrs. Bush will be attending.

Jonathan Alter on MSNBC reported today that the decision in February to go into hospice was to be present for his wife, not because his death then was imminent.

Watching both yesterday's service & today's funeral, I'm struck with the belief that the Carter children are estranged. Ironically, like the Reagan offspring. The always unfortunate looking Jeff, whose son spoke for him today, appears to have some neurological condition.

Bill Clinton presented both Carters with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, in 1999, and worked hard to improve his relationship with Jimmy. Jimmy was a pain in Bill Clinton's ass when he was POTUS those first 4 years. He'd always call Al Gore, not POTUS. And honestly I can see why, because Clinton had a shit foreign policy when you think of Kosovo, Bosnia, Rwanda, etc. And Carter stopped him from invading Haiti, but suddenly visiting Haiti. Bill was thwarted. LOL! But they had a mutual enemy in Teddy Kennedy. Hillary and Bill promoted the children's healthcare program CHIP and screwed Kennedy over by telling him they wouldn't be doing healthcare right now but if he waited it would be reintroduced and they'd support him. Then they didn't. And of course Jimmy had no love for Teddy either.

I offered to shoot peanuts out the poosey while sing Georgia On My Mind in tribute to old woman. The Lizzie daughter said no. Carters no class.

One thing occurs to me as I watched coverage of the funeral. There are a lot of men in the Carter family. Jimmy and Rosalynn had three boys and one girl, and their sons had boys.

In addition to Lynda Johnson Robb, her sister Luci Baines Johnson, and Susan Ford Bales were in attendance at her service in Atlanta. No other presidential family members were present.

I saw a video done by a hospice care worker yesterday and she spoke about why Pres. Carter's mouth was hanging open during the first funeral. She said that when people are as old as Pres. Carter is and in hospice care they are very weak, some days more than others, and simply don't have the strength to keep their mouths closed.

Yes, R149, and my grandmother's case she wasn't even aware her mouth hung open. Little by little everything slowly stopped working. At the end we had to monitor her urine output and then the hospice worker told us the kidneys were beginning to shut down. Once that happened it as over.

Jimmy clearly has extreme facial wasting. I would think the tendons in the face that enable him to open and close his jaws are pretty much worn out.

Talk about Death in 3's :Rosalynn Carter, Sandra Day O'Connor, and Henry Kissinger. All in one week.

When eldest grandson, Jason Carter, gave the main eulogy, he failed to include VP Kamala Harris and the First Gentleman in his acknowledgements of dignitaries present.
