PEOPLE broke the news last August that Armstrong was joining RHOC. The mother of one, who was one the founding members of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills when it premiered in 2010, made history with her RHOC casting as the first Housewife ever to make the jump across franchises.

Earlier this month, she was with RHOC costars Tamra Judge, Heather Dubrow, Shannon Storms Beador, Gina Kirschenheiter, Emily Simpson and Jennifer Pedranti for the show's official panel at BravoCon 2023 in Las Vegas. Asked there about which franchise she preferred, Armstrong made it clear that while her roots were in Beverly Hills, she was having too much fun in Orange County to want to leave.

She made an impact in season 17, butting heads with Dubrow over remarks the Let's Talk with Heather Dubrow host made about a role in a movie Armstrong had been cast in. Though the drama surfaced a few times throughout the episodes, the two repaired their relationship by reunion's end.

Armstrong's return to the Housewives universe came after appearing on season 2 of Peacock's The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip Ex-Wives Club. She starred in the series alongside Judge as well as her one-time RHOBH costar Brandi Glanville, former Real Housewives of New York City Housewives Dorinda Medley and Jill Zarin, Real Housewives of Atlanta alums Phaedra Parks and Eva Marcille, and RHOC legend Vicki Gunvalson.

Prior to that, Armstrong was on RHOBH as a full-time Housewife for its first three seasons. She has appeared as a guest many times since.

Ahead of RHOBH's season 2 premiere, Armstrong made headlines when she filed for divorce from her husband of six years, Russell, citing physical and verbal abuse. Russell died by suicide on Aug. 15, 2011, exactly a month after their split was announced.

Since then, Armstrong has become an outspoken advocate for survivors of domestic violence, speaking about the topic in engagements across the country. She married attorney John Bluhe, 64, in 2014. They live in Orange County now with Kennedy, Armstrong's 17-year-old daughter from her marriage to Russell.

Meanwhile, pickup letters for season 18 of RHOC went out on Tuesday, a source close to production told PEOPLE Wednesday. All of the season 17 cast save for Armstrong are expected to return, with filming set to begin in January. No premiere date has been announced yet.

Bravo, who famously does not release statements on casting, did not immediately return PEOPLE's request for comment.

According to Alexis, the Bravo door is open but she’s not revealing her cards quite yet. “I would say, ‘Never say never.’ I just feel like I’m in such a good place right now. I think I’m good in my life right now.”

While the alum did a run on RHOC from Seasons 4 through 8, she was a different person, during a different time, married to a different man. So at least if she comes back, there will be a whole new Alexis to contend with. But she learned the hard way reality television isn’t very relaxing. “I don’t think any career is easy. So I think that we all have to take whatever we’re put in and what career we’re doing with a grain of salt,” she said.

“A CEO’s career is not easy. A reality star’s career is not easy. There’s nothing easy about any career, so you move forward and you do the best you can do,” she added. Plus, Alexis is currently navigating the end of one relationship while maneuvering the possible beginning of another. She also recently lost her mom.

“But now I’m trying to turn the corner and I’m definitely feeling more … I’m seeing happiness again, a little bit. I’m trying to grieve properly and not with other options and medications and things, so I feel like I’m doing better,” Alexis explained.

Good ol Lex was recently at Kathy Hilton’s holiday shindig and ran into none other than Heather Dubrow. Heather shared a photo of them on Instagram, which did nothing but fuel the Alexis returning to RHOC fires.

If Alexis came back it would certainly take the shine off of Tammy Sue’s day. Shannon would absolutely lose her mind. And maybe she could form a lovely little alliance with Heather and Jennifer Pedranti. Are the winds of change blowing in the OC? Stay tuned.

The first thing I read was that it was Taylor's choice not to return.

That said, John seems to have an affection for the camera.

If Alexis snatches Vicki Gunvalson’s hopes and dreams of being in the opening credits, Shannon will be facing the reality of her love life. Additionally, in Season 18 Shannon will be facing the reality of her alcohol issues. In all fairness, those should have been addressed a long time ago.

Currently, Tamra Judge appears to be Team Alexis because Shannon did something to piss her off, which is no surprise. In a December 2023 interview with E! News, Shannon shared that the relationship is especially hurtful because of the lawsuit Alexis’ ex-husband filed against her in 2018. “John is very well aware of a lawsuit that I was involved in with Jim Bellino,” the Real for Real founder said. “Alexis was involved in that lawsuit. I was financially and emotionally devastated for years … I won. But it devastated me financially … John’s aware of that.”

She also wondered why her ex would begin a romance with another Bravolebrity, let alone a former co-worker and one-time friend. She also claimed that John never liked being “in the public eye, and he’s thrust himself more into the public eye at this point. So, I’m quite confused about that.”

Though they’ve only been dating a short time, John reportedly gave Alexis a “promise ring” for Christmas (are they in high school?). Did John just trade in Shannon for a younger, hotter model? And why would he go back into the Bravo pond for his new girlfriend?
