Me: my mom’s sister is here early. She is watching Gaither videos. One of the songs is quite striking. She’ll probably smoke outside later. She really is down to 3 or 4 cigarettes a day and she never has that smell.

Visiting my family for the day. An hour and a half drive and a world away. I love spending time with them individually, but all together, in that house, is like entering a snake pit. To say nothing of the dog. To make matters worse, my parents' stove isn't working so the last weeks' conversations have been about how to make Thanksgiving dinner with a microwave, an air fryer, a toaster oven, and two countertop burners. Grateful I have the long weekend to recover.

I told everyone that asked me to dinner , that another couple had already asked me .....so i am free from an afternoon of screamin kids, people that would rather be anywhere else and i am So looking forward to it.

My ex/BFF, my husband, and me. We had plenty of other invites, but we're holding on to the core of dozens of Thanksgivings past when a host of us got together in NYC. We've been away from there for a decade or so.
