by Anonymous | reply 6 | November 18, 2023 1:00 PM |
The handwritten note reeks of PR, not grief or concern. Not the contents, which come off pretty well, but I’m pretty sure Taylor Swift has a phone and that is how she normally communicates. Pen and paper is a weird affectation that is obviously an intentional PR move.
I understand the impulse, but maybe she could have just weathered a little unfair criticism in this case. Doing this would make me feel dirty.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | November 18, 2023 1:00 PM |
Her handwriting surprised me. I thought it would be more feminine looking, with big flourishes.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | November 18, 2023 1:04 PM |
I always feel sad when I hear stories like this. When people go to concerts, they're usually excited and looking forward to it all week, they don't expect to die.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | November 18, 2023 1:26 PM |
It appears to be a “handwriting” font, not her handwriting.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | November 18, 2023 1:30 PM |
Sounds like she did everything responsibly, even pausing the show due to make sure the audience was getting water. I'd ask if that girl was with a guardian who neglected to keep her hydrated.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | November 18, 2023 1:30 PM |
Good catch, R10. The letters are absolutely identical.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | November 18, 2023 1:43 PM |
The “girl” was 23, R11. Agree that it doesn’t sound like Swift is to blame but if she paused the show to make sure the audience was getting water and there was no procedure in place to distribute water to a crowd of thousands (I’m assuming), then that’s just play-acting. I’m not even suggesting there should have been a procedure in place. I have no opinion. I’m just getting a vibe from how this is being presented. It feels very orchestrated.

by Anonymous | reply 15 | November 18, 2023 1:52 PM |
Well, she was a Taylor Swift fan, so she was braindead anyway... Sorry, I know that I'm an evil cunt, but it had to be said. 😂😂😂
Still, I am shocked that the event organizers didn't have any safety protocols in place in order to deal with the possible consequences of a tropical heatwave, and the wooden void of charisma herself had to stop tormenting people's eardrums to ask for her deaf fans to receive some water and medical assistance.
As much as I hate this talentless potato and the horrible noise she calls "music", this isn't her fault at all.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | November 18, 2023 2:01 PM |
Now I see that it’s a font and it’s obviously not an attempt to pass of a font as handwriting, I just didn’t recognize it. So maybe I am being too hard on her.

No drinks were allowed in the stadium including water. Whoever made that rule is the most responsible.

by Anonymous | reply 50 | November 19, 2023 4:27 PM |
Why on earth did they ban water bottles stadium during a tropical heatwave? I wonder if it's a holdover rule from the soccer matches normally played there. Water bottles can become missiles to throw on the pitch. A coach in Spain's Liga was knocked out cold by a water bottle thrown from the stands. But this is a flipping Taylor Swift concert attended by young women and teens, not soccer hooligans. 🙄
by Anonymous | reply 51 | November 19, 2023 5:02 PM |
She might get a few fans fired, too, because she canceled last night's concert one hour before it was supposed to start and rescheduled it to Monday, but a lot of the fans came from other states and even other South American countries and were supposed to return home today (Sunday) because of work and/or school.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | November 19, 2023 5:04 PM |
This article (in Portuguese) says the concert organizers were handing out room temperature water.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | November 19, 2023 5:09 PM |
The restricting of bringing any drinks and water into shows is so clearly a safety issue. In the US anyway one is forced to pay the kings ransom to concessionaires if one needs liquids. Squeezing the fans for very last penny is hardly unique to Brazil. What do you expect to happen on a sweltering day at a mass concert. They need to make water mandatorily available at these things. A death or two should not be acceptable but that is where we are at in the world now. I hope she uses her celebrity power to change this but celebrities have always been tools.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | November 19, 2023 5:17 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 55 | November 19, 2023 7:30 PM |
The sale of water was prohibited but there were taco stands as far as the eye could see.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | November 19, 2023 7:35 PM |
The thing about not bringing water into the stadium is the fault of the owners of the venue and the concessionaires. Clearly the concessionaires want the exclusive right to sell drinks (at inflated prices) and they were probably shivering in anticipation of hefty sales due to the record heat wave in Rio.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | November 19, 2023 7:46 PM |

"The family of the fan who passed out during Taylor’s concert is having financial difficulties to bring Ana’s body home (she isn’t from Rio) and that no one on Taylor’s team contacted them.
I know it wasn’t her fault to what happened but as a fan of hers I’m very disappointed the way she and her PR team are distancing themselves from the situation. Not a word to Ana’s family. Not any help. She’s literally a billionaire. Also, in the note she posted on her stories she said Ana passed BEFORE the concert, which is a LIE: Ana fainted during Cruel Summer. She is eximing herself from any responsibility. Previously we thought she was doing things for Ana’s family behind the scenes as she said she wouldnt talk about this on stage, but to know now the show simply went on and that’s it, it’s unbelievable coldness."

by Anonymous | reply 81 | November 21, 2023 10:21 AM |
100 degrees should not be a problem for a non really active young healthy person who has no other drugs in their system and who is well hydrated.
Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate and IMO wear a sun hat and don’t run a 10k and you should be fine at an outdoor concert. Let’s face it 100 degrees+ is going to be more and more the new normal. Toughen up and get ready.
You could not pay me to go but the rest of you should be fine.

I was young and healthy and took a 3 mile run with the temp over 100 degrees. Don’t make the run. I would have been ok just sitting or standing but running almost killed me.
And of course don’t do PnP or Molly in 100 degree heat then go for a 3 mile run while waiting for the concert to start,.
Hope this clarifies and is helpful for surviving your next concert in 100 degree temps.

These concerts are too big. The whole Taylor Swift phenomenon is crazy. And you no longer have sensible parents who would have probably forbidden their kids to go to these things in a previous era. Many of the people at them are too young and incapable of being unsupervised. Then you add 100 degree temps. God forbid Taylor didn't perform and had to refund the money.

by Anonymous | reply 110 | November 22, 2023 3:21 PM |
R110 And as a follow up... Woodstock was a music festival, the average age of the festival-goers was 22, and it wasn't like an artist being on tour and having huge concerts in every city.
by Anonymous | reply 111 | November 22, 2023 3:23 PM |
Also at Woodstock they could jump nude into the muddy ponds and streams. And it rained. That Rio stadium looks very shabby, though it is less than 20 years old and used in the Olympics. Perhaps a cheaply constructed place?
by Anonymous | reply 112 | November 22, 2023 5:39 PM |
R112 Perhaps, but what does the construction of the stadium have to do with what happened to that fan?
by Anonymous | reply 113 | November 23, 2023 3:22 PM |
R111
22 years old average at Woodstock.
Almost as old as the girl (23) who died at the Swift concert.
R110
Which means the girl who just died was hardly a pre teen. She was in fact a grown adult.
by Anonymous | reply 114 | November 23, 2023 3:36 PM |
R113 the current condition of the locale also speaks to the low attention paid to audience safety during a heatwave. Including the option of postponing or cancelling. Apparently there was not enough attention paid to the FACT that some audience would experience heat exhaustion. There wasn't enough water and it wasn't free, for one.
