Yes it's anachronistic that actors have fit gym bodies in period pieces but you just have to suspend disbelief. They're working on or auditioning for other projects and a fit body is a must. Not to mention that just being a young or youngish person in 2023 means you have to be fit, esp. in LA or NY.

Of course I realize that many DLers have never seen the inside of a gym and haven't left their hovels since Designing Women went off the air and they don't get what I'm saying, but that's not my problem.

As someone above posted, some young actors today seem to spend more time in the gym than they do in acting class, and that's reflected in the lousy quality of acting we are seeing in some shows today.
