I remember John Denver having a pretty good body in this. (I would admire it as a kid)

I forgot Teri Garr was in this.

Denver should have taken his acting career more seriously, because he was quite good in this. But I suppose it was more fun to just keep singing and hanging out with Muppets and being rich.

God no. Wasn't there a sequel?

Graham knew about the John Denver footage that got cut out, so he documented it for posterity

George Burns reminds me of Judge Judy

Same, r1. There’s a scene where God talks to him in the shower and it shows him getting and and getting a towel and I was convinced you could see some nudity. Watched it recently and it’s clear he’s wearing some kind of bathing suit or covering. But 10-year old me was thrilled at that reveal.

Wish I had paid $3 to see that instead of "Wholly Moses!"

When I was a kid, HBO played this on a continuous loop. And I watched it probably 47 times as a result. Guess I must have liked it!
The sequels, not so much.

R4 there were 2 sequels
Oh God book 2
Oh God You Devil

Is that David Ogden Stiers?

Oh God, Book II was a flop but for some reason, Oh God, You Devil did well.

I can’t believe I’ve never heard of this movie.

I like when it rains in his AMC Pacer.

The only time I saw John Denver act is in a Christmas movie with a young Jane Kaczmarek as his love interest. He was ok.

The two kids who played tge son and daughter were very good. Paul Sorvino went all hammy as a T.V. Swaggart-style preacher. Fun movie, if a little heavy-handed in the messaging about God doesn't like phonies.

Rachel Longaker played the daughter. She was very good.

At least Book II had Suzanne Pleshette

Denver did lots of one-offs on various TV shows, r15. Dennis Weaver's McCloud was one.

I was the reason for that, R12.

I remember Book II but not the others.
That annoying little girl who kept using the word "slogan" over and over. THINK GOD was it, I believe.

R14, here's a clip of the AMC Pacer rain scene.
Who knew G-d would have the cadence of a borscht belt comic. Since his only son was Jewish I guess it makes sense.

Did Burns ever appear nude on camera?

I loved John Denver music in Catholic grade school in the '70s. Our 4th & 5th grade teachers played him incessantly in the mid-70s. I even developed a little crush on him. I thought he was so cute and fun with our singalong music.
But even before his light aircraft crash, much started to come out about his violence towards his wife (the Annie from the eponymous title) including lunging at her with a operating CHAINSAW, but he missed, destroying their marital bed instead.

^Forgot to mention he would have continued with the chainsaw assault had the sheets not stuck in and disabled the mechanism as it powered down to dead.
