His looks really took a hit in the 60s. He was just one of those guys that look good in their early 20s because youth carried them, but once that wears off the hair went, the face went and the body went.

Brando in Streetcar could fuck me and kill me afterward. Not so much around 15 years later. Pretty much the cutoff for me with Brando was Reflections In A Golden Eye. After that, nope, unless there was money involved.

That's not a screen test, it's a costume test. Different animals. Screen tests are done to make sure an actor is good for the part. Costume tests are done when the art has been cast for the clothes, hair and make-up.

Also, screen tests are on film or video, not on photos.

I'm not surprised to see he suffered from Morton's Toe. Something had to balance out his beautiful face.

Is it a screen test of the costume or is it merely a photo for continuity purposes (gotta keep those folds the same in every shot!). Screen tests for costumes were usually done on film, not as stills, as everyone wanted to see how the costume moved. Especially a costume like this one that could easily go astray in movement..

I had the misfortune of catching Johnny Depp’s abysmal directing effort The Brave on TV. The single 5 minute period of note was Marlon Brando’s appearance. I always assumed he was at least partly Italian, but apparently he was mostly German and northern European. (His ancester was a German by the name of Brandau, which would have been pronounced Brahndow, but that was obviously changed through the centuries to Brando (Brandough). He was obviously sex on a stick throughout the 50s and early 60s, but clearly no one warned him to eat healthy foods and exercise daily. He would have turned 50 in 1974 and he looked every second of it if not even older. I've often thought that movie stars have it tough, because they are constantly confronted by pictures of them in their physical prime. The rest of us can put those albums in the bottom of the pile and just be the age we are instead of constantly comparing ourselves to what we once looked like.
