Jacob Elordi is a MOVIE STAR in ‘Saltburn’

I went to see the film tonight and all I can think about 2 hours later is Felix, played by an amiable Jacob Elordi. Elordi is magnetic in this film, with a natural screen presence that can not be learned, but comes naturally. That is what separates the stars from the others, they have “IT”. Elordi has “IT”, and gives the most charming, endearing and charismatic performance in this film. It is not a shock to anyone that he is having such a massive moment right now, with the power duo of both Priscilla and Saltburn at the same time. He gives a brilliant performance in both and I would love to see him sneak in the Oscar race for his work in Saltburn, but I know his chances are better with Priscilla

A movie star is born.

And what about Barry? Do his unconventional facial features render him a thespian?

by Anonymousreply 1November 15, 2023 3:57 AM

R1 OP said a movie star. Not a thespian. They aren’t one and the same.

by Anonymousreply 2November 15, 2023 4:02 AM

Another American-funded and distributed production being passed off as a British film.

Don't the Brits have their own film industry anymore, or have they been incorporated into Hollywood?

by Anonymousreply 3November 15, 2023 4:19 AM

R3 you asked that stupid question already on another thread.

by Anonymousreply 4November 15, 2023 10:05 AM

R1 Barry's character is on the fug side of plain and uninteresting. I guess Joe Locke wasn't available for the role.

by Anonymousreply 5November 15, 2023 10:36 AM

That isn’t Barry’s character. That’s is Barry. He doesn’t have a face to be a movie star. Also, acting ability has nothing to do with being a movie star.

by Anonymousreply 6November 15, 2023 1:04 PM

Barry looks like an anteater.

by Anonymousreply 7November 15, 2023 5:34 PM

How's the movie, OP? I'm curious.

by Anonymousreply 8November 15, 2023 7:05 PM

I’m keen the see “Saltburn” based on the trailer, and I’m open to liking Elordi. But I have to say, while he was attractive in “Priscilla,” and was good (if nothing like Elvis) I didn’t get the idea from his work there that he was a star waiting for the right vehicle.

by Anonymousreply 9November 15, 2023 7:09 PM

Elordi is fine in Saltburn and that's it. His performance is nowhere near OP's hyperbolic praise. Keoghan is the stronger performer. I actually thought Rosamund Pike was the scene-stealer. She's excellent in the film. She deserves an Oscar nom.

The movie is dark, twisted, and fun. There are a few scenes that stunned the audience.

I agree.

by Anonymousreply 11November 15, 2023 7:34 PM

I'm not a fan of hers based on the vibe she gives off in general, but even in the trailer for this she really stood out.

by Anonymousreply 12November 15, 2023 7:38 PM

"he is having such a massive moment right now" -what a load of shit!

by Anonymousreply 13November 15, 2023 7:57 PM

Blanche: Who wrote this review? Dorthy: His mother.

by Anonymousreply 14November 15, 2023 11:00 PM

The reviews are mediocre.

by Anonymousreply 15November 16, 2023 12:03 AM

Is the director trans?

The reviews for the film are mediocre. Not for his performance.

Dear God. We aren’t gonna compare an actress who has been working since before Elordi was born to Elordi. This is about his performance. Not Rosamund. She was phenomenal and I stated on my thread that she should be in the Oscars conversation.

Elordi was enchanting.

by Anonymousreply 17November 16, 2023 12:17 AM

R13 clearly hasn’t been paying attention.

Don’t be an Asshole R16…you’re not talented enough to perform the role.

by Anonymousreply 20November 16, 2023 12:29 AM

Is the penis large?

by Anonymousreply 21November 16, 2023 1:43 AM

A movie star?! Who makes this shit up?

by Anonymousreply 22November 16, 2023 3:22 AM

He is phenomenal in his role. And gorgeous.

by Anonymousreply 23November 17, 2023 10:53 PM

This movie is a dud. It's a rip off of The Talented Mr. Ripley, but completely inept in its execution and storytelling. I saw it with an audience today and people were bored and annoyed by the end, although happy to go back into the real world.

by Anonymousreply 24November 27, 2023 12:45 AM

R24 must have seen Saltburn in a theater that caters exclusively to annoying cunts

by Anonymousreply 25November 27, 2023 12:53 AM

R24 it steals nothing from Ripley. It has similarities but many differences also.

by Anonymousreply 26November 27, 2023 12:59 AM

Ripley was a good movie.

Saltburn is a terrible movie.

by Anonymousreply 27November 27, 2023 1:14 AM

I love Emerald. Shes so honest and beautiful!!! She’s right, we’ve all met someone we had borderline obsessive feelings for.

This pretty much sums it up based on other comments I've read. Thank you early reviewers for saving ke a lot of time and money.

by Anonymousreply 33November 27, 2023 3:00 AM

Thank you Wikipedia, for killing any tiny chance that I would ever pay to see this movie.

by Anonymousreply 34November 27, 2023 4:14 AM

R30 Of course he doesn't.

by Anonymousreply 35November 27, 2023 4:35 AM

Of course he doesn’t because Felix isn’t gay. That’s the whole point. Longing and lusting for someone you can never have, with a last minute eat the rich twist. The longing and lusting and then growing obsessed with that person you want so badly but can’t does happen sometimes. Sadly.

by Anonymousreply 36November 27, 2023 4:38 AM

Maybe Jacob is a bottom, but people don't want to hear that because of his size.
