Carry on...
Native Americans are the only oppressed minority group large numbers of people incorrectly claim to be a part of. It’s strange. Not many people lie about being gay, Jewish, or African-American.

King Charles needs to invite her to Buckingham Palace so that Lady Susan Hussey can ask her repeatedly, “But where are you really from?” when she starts to go on about her native ”identity”.

I think Melanie is better, R10. She wrote some really great songs and her voice isn’t screechy. Buffy sounds like she’s a crying beached whale half the time. Bluffy is discount store Joan Baez.

After seeing that picture on my DL feed everyday, Buffy really does look Italian. I can see her serving me Lasagna and asking my about Uncle Guido.

Buffy pushes back:
""I've heard from countless people with similar stories who do not know where they are from and feel victimized by these allegations," she said. "Most importantly, this is my life — I am not a piece of paper."

I still strongly wonder if she is a case of a product of an extramarital affair (she looks -nothing- like her blonder siblings), and latched onto the native descent story as a way to make deal with it, while also building a folk entertainment career.

"Being an 'Indian' has little to do with sperm tracking and colonial record keeping: it has to do with community, culture, knowledge, teachings, who claims you, who you love, who loves you and who's your family," said Sainte-Marie, 82, in a written statement to The Canadian Press
She's really pathetic and quite stupid. Does she take everyone for fools?

Family members in the U.S., including Sainte-Marie's younger sister, also told CBC that Sainte-Marie was not adopted and does not have Indigenous ancestry.
Sainte-Marie said she "will not stoop to respond to every false allegation."
However, she said it was common for birth certificates to be "created" after Indigenous children were adopted or taken away from their families. She said she used a birth certificate throughout her life that was the only document she had.
She has never known if it was real, she said.
"I've heard from countless people with similar stories who do not know where they are from and feel victimized by these allegations," she said. "Most importantly, this is my life — I am not a piece of paper."
Thompson said CBC was assured by a town clerk in Stoneham, Mass., that its document on file is an original live birth certificate and it's not possible another was inserted after the fact.
Sainte-Marie also said CBC interviewed two estranged family members whom she doesn't know. She accused them of perpetuating a story fabricated by her alleged childhood abuser.

She doubles down with the same fantasy stories, and displacement and diversion tactics. Pathetic.

I think Buff is a liar, but isn’t it true that adoptive parents can sometimes be named as actual parents on birth certificates?

R24 It depends on the state. The CBC documentary covers this well. Her birth certificate was signed by an attending physician present at her birth which wouldn't have happened if she were adopted.

She used the 1941 Massachusetts birth certificate as ID to get married in the 1980’s. She knew where and to whom she was born then, long after becoming Liawatha in the 1960’s.

I've been reading some commentary on Facebook by native people and found some interesting stories about Buffy:
Someone who has family living on the Priapot reservation says they attend many feasts and festivals but never see her.
Someone else mentioned that she seen Buffy backstage and she seemed much more comfortable hanging out and chatting with the white performers then the indigenous ones.
There were stories of people finding pillowcases and sheets stained brown aby makeup after she'd spent the night.

Who is this person and why should I care?
The only Buffy I ever known was on TV, Buffy Summers; I do not care about fake Indian buffy, we stole their land& they got casinos.
Isn't that enough for these meth-out drunken Indians?

There’s screenshots of her son pretty much confirming Buffy’s ancestry years before this report aired.
Before Buffy’s brother was contacted by the Sesame Street producers, her uncle wrote to a local paper to say Buffy wasn’t Native American.

Her sister and son took DNA tests and they showed she was his maternal aunt. It also showed she had zero indigenous blood. So the adoption/mom slept with a Native American man and got her pregnant story gets more and more ridiculous.

The best thing she could do is ask the CBC for air time for a rebuttal and spend the whole time speaking in what she can claim is a dying indigenous language of which she is the last surviving speaker. Then she can dare the racists to claim it’s gibberish.
