I also love how Martha Wainwright sings The Traitor. She should have been bigger than her brother.

This is my favorite song of his, but I love to hear Julie and Perla sing it.

If It Be Your Will. To me he's like Bob Dylan. I can't listen to him but his songwriting is brilliant and his writing has brought out the best in many singers. Especially Jennifer Warnes.

R19 It’s both hilarious and heartbreaking. I especially love the moments at the very end where he’s screaming like a drunken man. Allegedly the song is about his unrequited love for Nico (of Velvet Underground and Warhol fame - and a helluva good, if not very accessible solo artist in her own right)

R22 What parts do you find hilarious? I think it's just a sad love song about someone you can't have or once had but are no longer interested in you. I actually prefer the cover by the band Harvey Milk. The guy has a very "unique" voice. Those horrendous screams at the end especially hit differently.
Another great sad song of his, that many people don't mention is Dress Rehearsal Rag

Either "Famous Blue Raincoat," or "Summertime."
I don't know if he actually ever sang "Summertime" or only wrote it, but it's a lovely song.

… I loved you in the morning, our kisses deep and warm
Your hair upon the pillow like a sleepy golden storm
Yes, many loved before us, I know that we are not new
In city and in forest they smiled like me and you
But now it's come to distances and both of us must try
Your eyes are soft with sorrow
Hey, that's no way to say goodbye...

He's like Bob Dylan. I love his songwriting but his singing is shit and can't enjoy it. However I have a lot of artists on phone that cover their material and I love it.
