This screams flop. Hiding the fact it's a musical just makes it look like a cheap direct to streaming remake of the original. There has been no buzz about it, and it's being released in early January.

The original is a classic. No need for an update. Stop fucking remaking everything!

True story: there's an Australian fashion boutique called That's So Fetch.

Apart from everything else, the way it is shot looks so cheap.

I was about to scream "Fire your agent, Amy!! You can't afford another flop!!" until I realized it was Jenna Fischer, not Amy Adams.

Jonathan Bennett was hot. The guy they have playing Aaron Samuels in this movie is not hot at all. Are the girls in school are supposed to be fighting over this guy? What was casting thinking.

So the ad seems like it is word for word, the exact same movie. Right down to that smug bitch Tina Fey being in it. Busy Phillips as the mom looks good, otherwise, it looks dumb.

Amy Poehler had the good sense to not be in this. Shame on you, Tina, for producing this turd.

This was originally being developed for streaming, so I assumed getting a theatrical release spoke well of its quality. But this trailer and the January release date are both big red flags. Why are they hiding that it's a musical? What's the selling point here if it's not the music? The Broadway show was well reviewed, so it's not like the music is atrocious.

Also, while some of the casting looks questionable, it was reported back in 2019 that less than half of kids in the US under 15 were white. So lots of the kids being POC is actually an accurate depiction of high schools today.

They’re putting it in theaters not so much because of quality but because “girl movies” are the some of the only movies that do well these days. Barbie. Taylor. They’re hoping to capitalize on that and make this a “girls night out” event.

Legally Blonde is a much better musical with older source material. Would be a better choice, IMHO.

Looks like there's plenty not to like here, but I'm focused on how creepy it is to see both Tina Fey and Tim Meadows reprising their roles. Google tells me that five actors have played the same part in both a remake and the original of the same movie, but I can't think of one with two returners in the same remake. Very off-putting.

Because the music was like cotton candy, it lasted for a few seconds and was forgotten almost immediately thereafter. I saw the musical in 2022 and thought the music was energetic in the moment, but quite unremarkable and certainly not memorable — so, not unlike a great deal of musical theatre from the last few decades.

The original is basic,overrated and not that funny. Also, utterly unrealistic to the point it could be animated with superheroes. Tiny Fey must have really needed the money to do this remake

That's the way you market musicals, they never want to show people singing because they think it will turn off audiences r33. Wonka just did the same thing.

It looks like absolute shit. I honestly hate musical adaptations/remakes in general—it's fast food entertainment for lowbrow theater queens and autistic teen girls.
